In the first place, think of a discussion you may have read or participated in on the Straight Dope a few hours ago. Try and accurately reproduce who said what from memory without going back to reread. I’ll bet you can’t. Even though you recall the general gist of the discussion, you can’t accurately quote it from memory.
And second, a plausible sounding conversation doesn’t prove anything. You personally might be unable to make one up, and neither could I, but many people can. It would be impossible to write works of fiction otherwise.

MSNBC carried it live, until Trump turned the podium over to someone from the virus task force, and cut away when it was apparent that he wasn’t going to be making a concession speech.
To recap: it was classic Trump. I wondered if his tone would change when he wasn’t running for anything, but I needn’t have worried. It was a long litany of praise for himself; how wonderful Operation Warp Speed is. That Pfizer was wrong when they said they weren’t a participant in O.W.S. That New York won’t be getting the vaccine unless they beg for it.
And incredibly, he continues to downplay the virus: it only affects the elderly, it’ll go away as soon as the vaccine gets here which will be really soon; the economy is rebounding spectacularly and a lockdown would be terrible and that “this administration” would never do that … and that’s where he started to stumble and mention the next administration but recovered with a limp “we’ll see what happens”.
I am watching it now - talking about “Operation Warp-Speed”. Pence just stepped up to the podium. Butt-snorkeling never looked so grey. They are reaching-around pretty hard to pat themselves on the back, none of this would have happened without Trump, and only Trump at the tiller. 
It would be a lot easier if they just gave each other a goddamned reach-around.
The 9/11 commission’s report stated that the delay in Bush Jr.'s transition left us more unprepared for the Sept. 11 attacks. So, lots of people in addition to Bush were hurt. And worse.
This is true. Anybody competent (i.e.: not Trump) wouldn’t have dismantled the overseas offices watching for impending pandemics and the domestic offices intended to handle said pandemics.
He only did it because Obama started it.

If I recall from reading Woodward’s book, the reality is that we could have been prepared for 9/11 had Bush’s handpicked team focused more on Bin Laden and less on Hussein. There are inevitably going to be ‘caught with pants down’ moments as the new president learns the ropes, but policy matters as much as anything.
