I forget the exact numbers now, but Georgia’s hand recount netted Trump just under 500 more votes. So it’s looking good for Trump – if every recount nets him an additional 500 votes, then after 25 recounts he’ll be just a few votes ahead of Biden! Winner!! It’s a solid strategy. What could possibly go wrong? Repeat with a few hundred more successive recounts – or however many are necessary for him to win – in 3 or 4 more states, and he gets a second term and stays out of jail!
And on that note, Brianna Keilar explains why CNN isn’t even wasting time following Rudy’s ridiculous ranting pressers any more – it’s all just become a total farce. Instead of covering Rudy’s presser, Keiler explains what a bunch of ass-clowns Trump’s remaining lawyers are, the good ones having long since deserted, hoping they left soon enough to save their reputations.
Hopefully, because this will end very, very badly for him.
As mentioned several times upthread, our entire political and socioeconomic system depends on a basic sense of honesty and integrity, and following laws and norms without having to be legally coerced at every turn. Flouting those basic foundations of democracy is nothing short of treachery. Trump’s only real defense is that his egregious exhibit of pathological narcissism has rendered him functionally insane, which is hardly a commendation for a bright future either in politics or in anything else.
It was probably illegal of him to obstruct justice and withhold funding for Ukraine as a favor to Russia - zero fucks were given.
The GOP and 73 millions of voters voted for this. Some of them might now be asking some questions, but too late: they were too fucking stupid to rub enough brain cells together to figure out that when you allow someone to behave like a criminal and then vote for him, you’re voting to have your government run like an organized crime business, and that’s what we might end up with now.
As someone who worked for the Government, the motto “no job is finished until the paperwork is done” is true at all bureaucratic levels. It’ll get done by 5pm Eastern as required.
What I’m more interested in is what Governor Kemp says at his news conference due at 5pm Eastern. He has until 5pm Saturday to certify the results/electors.
I know what he should be saying–I am wondering what he will be saying…
