Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

There really is no justification for our current electoral system where we ended up with a relatively close election, decided by thousands of votes in a few states, despite the fact that the winning candidate is currently ahead in the tally by over 7 million votes and counting.

The election was both shocking close, and not remotely close.

Right. It’s become a super-targeted effort focused almost entirely on those that (a) may donate money and (b) have turned off any and all critical thinking. Even the President only released his “massive fraud” speech on Facebook. Rudy is only showing up at fake hearings, not in an actual courtroom.

If any part of it started as a legitimate attempt to challenge improper voting it has devolved into a pure con at this point.

I guess what I meant is that the caller I.D. feature is standard on cell phones, but it wasn’t on land lines.

I doubt if the FCC gives a crap about this.

It would probably help if the pollster could have their name pop up on caller id. That might skew the results some, like Republicans more likely to answer Rasmussen, but that could be accounted for in aggregation.

It’s pretty standard on land lines too, by now; though some people using landlines are still using old phones on them that aren’t capable of showing it.

MN Supreme court rejects GOP suit to do a recount

Basically: 1) some of the complaints should have brought up BEFORE the election (some were, and were rejected. and 2) The one compliant that was post election was against county officials, but none were given the petition.

I’m probably the last person here to figure this out… Donnie knows he doesn’t have an ice cube’s chance in hell of overturning the election. He’s dragging this out for one reason (well for a reason and a half).

The main reason is: MONEY.

He’s raising boatloads of money from his stupid supporters, which he can either use to kick off his 2024 campaign or (more likely) just keep, ‘cause now he knows that presidentin’ is no fun.

The half reason is for the attention. He can’t give up being in the headlines every day, and the scorched earth exit is keeping him in the limelight. We should take Rachel Maddow’s advice:

“Ignore the president,” Rachel Maddow implored Americans on her MSNBC show.

“Ignore whatever is going on with that circus,” she urged during a segment Thursday analyzing how the coronavirus is again surging across the United States while outgoing President Donald Trump continues his futile attempts to steal the 2020 election.

Doesn’t Maddow realize, not one person that is dumb enough to send Trump money is listening to her anyway?

The GOP now officially has a worse losing record in court than Hamilton Burger.

Trump has now lost three times in Georgia after the latest recount requested by the Trump campaign. Shouldn’t that count for 48 electoral votes?

Remember the “overwhelming evidence” of fraud in Nevada? The judge disagrees:

Also lost in Arizona

All that this means to his imbecile acolytes is that the nefarious Deep State™ is preventing the Orange Menace from being rightfully crowned as Dictator for Life. If it seems a bit much to say that this is what US democracy has become, it is patently obvious that this is what the Orange Menace is rapidly turning it into.

Quite a few people have said this, but I don’t buy it. Remember that he started making his claims of fraud 2:30 AM of the 4th. He would have had to come up with the plan in such a short time, and really he isn’t that devious.

He’s a narcissist. He is simply incapable of believing that he lost. He really thinks he won. He really thinks that the election was stolen by fraud. He totally believes that he can sue to get it back. Every defeat just reinforces his belief in the size of the conspiracy.

And he is going to be in serious legal trouble starting Jan 21st. Only hanging onto the Presidency will protect him.

It’s much more serious with Trump. He thinks things are true that he believes to be true. He thinks things are morally right if they are good for him. Truth and morality do not exist in any concrete way for him. Privilege has kind of made him this way.

Terry Pratchett had Trump down 20 years ago when he wasn’t even writing about him.

Doesn’t mean she shouldn’t get the word out. Plus I definitely show videos to my friends online, and they’re more likely to look since they know me as a person.

Can we have the thread re-named: “Election Day [Week] [Month] 2020 follow-along thread”?

:grinning:

Especially when he has Rudy telling him about all the evidence he has. If you were as dumb as Trump, you would believe it. It sounds convincing to the brainless. 800k extra votes in Georgia!

Turns out that Trump can give a dignified concession speech after all:

Who would have thought?
Parody added tag by What Exit?

And so far his experience has been that they haven’t touched him.

I think it’s both. He has a grifter’s nature, and seeing all the rubes pulling their hair out over the election presented a clear opportunity for him to fleece the sheep even more. But you’re right that the bedrock that Trump has built his entire personality on is that there are winners and losers, and the worst thing in the world is to be seen as a loser. He can thank Fred for that.
