Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I remember that! This story is from Dec 2018, but The Event in Question happened in Feb 2013.

The content of the tweet @RealDonaldTrump posted on the night of Feb. 5, 2013, was bland: a simple thank you to the actress Sherri Shepherd for flattering comments she’d made about Trump on television.

Thanks @SherriEShepherd 4 your nice comments today on The View. U were terrific!

But its implications were historic.

When Trump’s young social media manager saw the tweet, he was perplexed. He typically typed and sent Trump’s tweets for the boss, but in this case he hadn’t. He did recall that Trump had been spending a lot of time in his office lately playing around with a new Android smartphone.

The next morning, the handful of staffers with access to the boss’ account told the social media manager, Justin McConney, that they had not sent it either.

That’s when it dawned on him: Donald Trump had tweeted on his own for the first time.

“The moment I found out Trump could tweet himself was comparable to the moment in ‘Jurassic Park’ when Dr. Grant realized that velociraptors could open doors,” recalled McConney, who was the Trump Organization’s director of social media from 2011 to 2017. “I was like, ‘Oh no.’”

At the time, no one — not even McConney himself — could grasp what was to come. Now, in rare on-the-record interviews with POLITICO, McConney, who left the Trump Organization last year, has laid out the story of Trump’s journey from an old-school Luddite to a social media maven.

Related just a bit. Spielberg had very fancy stop-motion animators in to show that if the CGI stuff doesn’t prove to be good enough, they would use the stop-motion animators as well.

Once they saw a sample video of a CGI T-Rex, the stop motion animator looked at Spielberg and said, “Looks like I’m extinct.”

Spielberg liked it so much he included it in movie from Sam Neil’s character who realizes he and his partner’s job isn’t really needed now there are real dinosaurs.

Maybe the family Trump won’t be living in Florida…

Neighbors of Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Fla., that he has called his Winter White House, have a message for the outgoing commander in chief: We don’t want you to be our neighbor.

For years, neighbors have raised concerns about disruptions, such as clogged traffic and blocked streets, caused by the president’s frequent trips to the club. Even before he was president, Trump created ill will in the town by refusing to comply with even basic local requirements, such as adhering to height limits for a massive flagpole he installed, and frequently attempting to get out of the promises he had made when he converted Mar-a-Lago into a private club.

Surprise, surprise. :smirk:

Trump: I really don’t care do u?

Since when has he given a flying fuck what the neighbors think of him?

Never, but suing The Donald and not letting him wriggle free with ‘donations’ from his charity is going to be the hot new hobby once he leaves office.

Maybe a question for GQ, but what happens if a person is so bombarded with lawsuits in multiple states that he can’t effectively respond to them all? Are courts required to give him time? Can he just slow walk a few cases to avoid the rest?

Steve Schmidt has registered as a Democrat.

That’s it! Thanks for the link.

So what is the deal with that “dominion audit” or whatever it is? Anyone have any idea what flavor of BS it is, and what to point out about it if I end up discussing it with a Trump supporter?

The Dominion voting machines were made in the Gamma Quadrant by the shape-shifting “founders”. They were transported through the worm-hole by the Jem’Hadar, and then taken to various locations, under the watchful eye of Hugo Chavez.

The slaves that Hillary was keeping in Comet Ping Pong Pizza were then unleashed to use these machines to lock in votes for Biden.

It’s really quite clear if you listen to Republicans these days.

IANAL (and never regretted it). I don’t think Trump has to respond to every suit personally, or show up in court in person. Doesn’t it suffice for his lawyer to do that? If Trump gets bombarded with a hundred lawsuits, I think all he needs to do is hire a hundred lawyers to handle them all, including making personal appearances in courts in his behalf. Is that right?

For quite a few actions, yes, just his lawyers could handle it, but some judges want the person there in court.

He cant just send in his layers for depositions, he would have to attend in person.

The day Trump first has to testify under oath will be the first day of the perjury case against him. Should be fun.

Did someone order a clown car?
Get ready for 4 years of the new and improved BENGHAZI! Republicans are professional trolls, trolling their base.

“(CNN)One day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said plainly that Joe Biden was the President-elect, Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson is holding a controversial hearing Wednesday to probe the 2020 election.
Johnson, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, has invited two Trump campaign lawyers who tried to overturn the election results in Nevada and Wisconsin and a Republican Pennsylvania state representative, as well as former independent counsel Kenneth Starr, who was part of President Donald Trump’s impeachment defense.
Christopher Krebs, the former top administration official for cybersecurity who was fired by Trump for saying there wasn’t widespread fraud in the election, is testifying as the Democratic witness.
Senators in both parties have raised concerns that the hearing is promoting debunked conspiracy theories about the election, and one Republican senator is not participating. It comes as Trump has continued to spread baseless and false claims about fraud in the election and ignored Monday’s Electoral College vote that affirmed Biden as the winner of the presidential election, 306 electoral votes to 232.”

[Also posted in Clusterfuck II thread.]

Marshall McConnell is back in charge, you renegades, and he’s gunning for you. Be afraid.

I just point out that Georgia used Dominion. The hand recount in Georgia matched the machine results. Conspiracy theory squashed.

It was the Vorta, not the Jem’Hadar :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

I assume you are referring to the audit done in Antrim County, Michigan? Here is a response from the office of the Michigan Attorney General: SOM - 404 - Page Not Found

As noted therein, this audit for the plaintiffs was performed by the same guy in Texax, Russell Ramsland, who submitted affidavits in court cases which claimed that certain townships in Wayne County, MI had more votes than registered voters. The only problem was that the places he listed were not places that exist in Michigan…but rather were in Minnesota (MN) and, in fact, in rural Trump-leaning places in Minnesota. So, if anything, it was evidence of fraud in Trumpland (although, in actuality, apparently it was not really clear where his numbers came from since they didn’t seem to match official numbers from MN either). To say that the guy is not credible is an understatement.

On its surface it seems like an utterly insane thing to say, but what it really represents is a call for political violence, to take down an opponent by force.

It’s another way of saying, “I won’t debate you or discuss your ideas; I’ll just have my men surround you and kidnap you. What happens after that…happens.”
