Yes, that’s completely plausible.
Interesting article in Forbes:
Particularly this quote:
Boils down to : “If the President wants to destroy people’s faith in our democratic elections, well, that’s his choice and we won’t speak out, but if he starts jeopardising our party’s electoral chances, whoa! Can’t have that!”
Good. Trump trashing and burning everything in his path may just give Senate control to the Dems, or very close to it, making it difficult for McTurtle to cripple the Biden administration.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump WANTS the GOP to lose. He’s all hurt because they wouldn’t back his coup so he’s acting like the toddler.
I still think Fox News asked a great question in early 2016 when they asked him, “Mr. Trump, when exactly did you become a Republican?”
Still valid.
Now, they should ask him again. And add: "…and for God’s sake, when will you stop?"
Breaking News: I just spotted a headline that Trump signed the budget/stimulus bill. I didn’t read the story yet, but I’m sure it’s already discussed in another thread here. It’s relevance in this thread is just that, in light of several posts above, it brings the Georgia runoffs more into question again.
He did, and this presumably will mitigate the damage that could have been done to the GA Republican Senate candidates if Trump had let the federal government shut down, enhanced unemployment benefits expire, etc. The GA runoffs were the entire reason why McConnell allowed any stimulus bill to pass the Senate at all, recognizing that Purdue and Loeffler were getting killed on the issue. This should get them back on track to bitch about Joe Biden’s “socialism” while taking credit for voting for trillions of dollars in government spending.
He still caused a tremendous amount of damage. A lot of people had their unemployment expire and now they have to open a new claim. This will cause delays of who knows how long.
And Trump made us all want $2000.00 instead of a measly $600.00, but he couldn’t close the deal.
I hope that will be the takeaway.
While it doesn’t justify Republicans’ groundless objections to electors, I do think that Boxer is being pretty disingenuous regarding the differences between her 2004 objection and this year.
sob
The Trump campaign says its petition will present claims that ballots were counted by voters without identification, incomplete absentee ballots were counted, and ballots were collected by hand at events held before the election.
When will it end? Why won’t he just go away?
For twenty large per day I bet I could come up with lots of reasons my services would be needed too.
So it sounds like Trump was right we are indeed getting tired of winning, or at least getting tired of our opponent losing (59-1 as of Dec 14 not sure what it is now)
You might want to send him this link to an article by Fox News commentator John Fund. It’s actually fairly balanced in explaining how this issue unfolded:
McConnell has poison-pilled the $2000 stimulus check with a Section 230 repeal and a commission on voter fraud.
Trump tweets this morning that Republican Governor Brian Kemp should resign for not playing along with his attempt to overturn the Presidential election results in Georgia. This is quite a turnaround – Trump’s support helped Kemp come out on top in a tough Republican primary for Governor and Kemp has reciprocated by lavishly praising Trump and following his lead on things like coronavirus response.
Can’t really feel bad for him, though. If you’re going to jump on board the Trump train, he expects nothing less than total subservience in all things – up to and including illegal and unconscionable actions to keep him in office.
I get $2000 and Facebook is destroyed and I’m cured of my Twitter addiction? All for some bullshit commission being run by the Dems during a Democratic administration?
Where do I sign up?!?
In trumpworld, loyalty only flows one way.
You have to expect to be thrown under the train at a moment’s notice.
How about when some banned schmuck sues the SDMB?
