Scott (Jennings, I think?), conservative commentator on CNN this morning, argued basically the same thing: Democrats should jump on this proposal from Mitch. He said that the repeal of Section 230 would remove entities such as QAnon, and the election fraud commission would be just as ineffective as the last one put in place by the current administration.
It will be interesting to see how many other Senate Republicans fall all over themselves to object as well now that Hawley has opened this door. No more sitting on the sidelines for them!
Testifying, right now, before Georgia Senate. Told them that they have the Zapbruder (sic) film. This film, according to Rudy, proves “the inadequacy of the Warren Commission”, which “lives in infamy.”
Yeah, turn out he’s a JFK conspiracy nut too. Or maybe people already knew this, and I’m late to the party.
In my fantasy version of a democratic America, every congressperson or Senator who objects, plus every congressperson who signed on to that idiotic Texas lawsuit, needs to be beat over the head with that from now until Election Day 2022. “My opponent has revealed himself to be anti-democratic, pro-authoritarian, and a slave to former president Trump”. The trick is, how to say that without the implied “And you suckers voted for him last time.”
There are a lot of Democrats who want to repeal Section 230 (though they want to create something else as well as opposed to just getting rid of it). A lot of hate speech and harassment lawsuits would be able to be filed, as well as suing Twitter for allowing libel… like, you know, from Trump.
Pretty sure the first time the Zapruder film was shown to the public was on Geraldo Rivera’s show in the 1970s. Geraldo who is now pleading with Trump (long time friend) to stop being a sore loser.
I don’t think there is an agreement of a replacement, but there is an idea that something should take its place as opposed to just a repudiation (amend rather than repeal). Which is likely one of the reasons Democrats haven’t jumped on Trump saying he wants Section 230 repealed (which Biden himself said he wanted at some point during the summer, but hasn’t weighed in recently about it).
“The Senate is not going to be bullied into rushing out more borrowed money into the hands of Democrats’ rich friends who don’t need the help,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.
“If there’s going to be any bullying, I’M going to be the one doing it.”
I think I saw it on the Lou Gordon show. I don’t think Geraldo had a show then. Back then IIRC he was known as “the hip reporter who knows Lennon.” He had different masters then to say the least.
You could almost sort of feel bad for him if he took the opportunity of this constant humiliation from Trump to rethink his approach to life. But his lips are still firmly attached to Trump’s ass. It’s so hard to comprehend what kind of pathetic person can behave that way. See also, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. Hopefully, Kemp will end up in the dustbin of history with him.
The first US network showing of the Zapruder film was on March 6, 1975, on Good Night America, hosted by Geraldo Rivera. It had been shown on local stations before that.
Lou was an early tabloid type host who was syndicated on the Kaiser System, UHF stations. He died early on of a heart attack. He must have jumped on this.
If the the Democrats did decide to call his bluff, I actually wouldn’t be surprised he ended up filibustering his own bill like he did back in 2012. I can’t imagine that Republicans really want to open up big business to crippling law suits by consuners, and the election fraud investigation is going to look just as ridiculous on the senate floor as it did in court.
Trump has decided to make a sudden return to DC, cancelling his New Year’s Eve celebrations in Florida. Any idea what’s going on in that rat’s nest he calls a mind?
