Ever since I heard Garland is the pick for AG, I’ve had this delicious little fantasy where he investigates the circumstances surrounding McConnell’s arrangement with Oleg Deripaska to build his aluminum plant in Kentucky for 200 million, finds serious campaign finance violations and sending Mitch on his way to Club Fed for a few well-deserved years.

He released a video already. Condemned violence, said they would pay. Confirmed a new administration is coming in. He kind of sounded like he will stop legal options at this point. Said he would work to transition to Biden.
Whatever. I think he will make it the final 12 or so days and get out of this thing without being removed.
However, I do think it is possible article of impeachment will pass again.
They probably thought that if the certification wasn’t done on the specific day mandated by the Constitution the results were “illegal”. Never mind that they caused the interruption on the specified day.

It obvious they couldn’t even trust him to speak live. This will be like every other half-assed apology he’s ever made. I think they’ll be able to keep him quiet over the weekend (largely because of the Twitter / Facebook ban).
But I predict he gets his hands on a phone and calls into Fox and Friends on Monday, preaching that Joe Biden must not be allowed to steal the election and calling for further action, leading to his removal. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. But he won’t make it 13 days, no way.
Or not. The wild card is that removing him will only rev up his cult, one of his rallying cries is “They’re not coming for me, they’re coming for you and I’m in the way. They are probably furious that he was forced to make the hostage video.
His idiocy is making me slightly nervous for Inauguration Day. I know that there are all kinds of safeguards in place, but it really wouldn’t be a surprise if Trump’s crackpot followers actually try something.

It seems I read something somewhere, maybe in one for the many threads here, that a person who has been impeached can’t be pardoned. Not sure if that means during the process or on conviction. So yeah, this makes me think passing an article of impeachment or two as quickly as possible is a very good move.
