But according to the AP live results, if you halted all counting now and gave leaning blue to Biden and leaning red to trump, it gives Biden 270. Not to say the AP tally is 100% correct.

Both you and Trump are understanding how the EC works. Having a state “called” is just is a media event, not a legal one. The vote totals are not binding (unless state law says it is), and they’re not legally submitted officially for some weeks yet, as I understand it. The electors of each state (of the electoral college) are supposed to follow the will of the people by voting for the candidate who got the most votes, but they don’t have to.
But… in any case, it doesn’t matter that Biden doesn’t have 270 worth of “called” states yet, because “called” states are just a media event. Presumably, if Trump got his way, and the vote totals as they were last night at 1am pacific (or whenever Trump called for them to stop counting), then the eventual official vote counts would be highest in enough states that, if their electors voted based on those vote totals as of last night, he’d win.
I think since MI slightly flipped into Biden (by about 10,000 votes) I think if everything was shut down now, Biden will still win.
If a state doesn’t flip back, Trump’s only way to win would be to convince a legislature or court to go against the counted votes for some reason.
From what I’ve read the Trump campaign believed they would carry Minnesota. It was very reassuring when it was called for Biden who visited the state over the penultimate weekend.
Looking at the latest tallies it does seem Biden would win if counting stopped now.
Of course, that probably was not the case when Trump said he wanted counting to stop.

When Trump made the statement about stopping the counting, it was around 02:30 Eastern US time. At that point, he had the electoral college lead based on votes counted. It’s moved to Biden since then.
Unless he’s made some statement since then? I don’t pay attention to his Twitter feed.

Okay - that doesn’t actually answer the question. Those are only counting the races that the AP has “called” for a particular candidate. Since you are asking why DJT would want to stop the voting, you have to then look at who is leading right now in states that haven’t been called yet, and assign those votes to Biden or Trump. Currently, that puts Biden in the lead 270-268. When Trump was calling for the vote to stop, he was likely ahead in MI or NV - which would give him the lead. THAT’S why he would want the vote stopped. The overall national vote total is completely irrelevant.
Why do the Democrats have to do this, but Republicans can get away with going all out crazy?
