Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Try WGN. We had them on during the debates.

So there is far less nefarious shit going down than I predicted. I thought Trump would make a call for his goons to go attack voting sites and intimidate people. He wasn’t just hinting at it before, he openly called for it at the debates, so I figured he would very clearly call for it today.

But I guess the plan is going to be invalidating votes after the fact, casting doubt, and just generally declaring himself to be president sometime tonight.

All the early voting may have dictated the plan. You could call your goon squads out to intimidate and destroy on election day, but that doesn’t undo the 100m votes cast before election day. For that, you need legal and political coups.

Does everyone agree that the biggest shit-show possible is if in a couple of weeks the election is called, but its within a few faithless electors of changing the outcome??

I think he wanted the goon squads, they just didn’t show up.

It’s so hard to get goon squads that aren’t full of goons.

I choose to believe we’re going to smear him.

I’m going to start drinking now.

Here’s a unique way to suppress Democratic votes: an election official and her staff in Texas are refusing to wear masks. If you want to vote, you need to risk your health.

Montana, Idaho, New Mexico & Wyoming almost form a Forbidden Zone where nobody lives.

They should post a sign out front: You must be at least this stupid to ride this ride. With a line labeled IQ set about 3 feet above the floor with downwards pointing arrows above it.

My apologies; here’s the website.

What’s the best non-cable/antenna video news coverage of the election? CNNgo – Watch CNN TV live is free, ABC news is streaming on hulu, but I have no idea if their news coverage is any good. Any suggestions?

Good on ya, Phil!

But please, think really hard about supporting positions or people that put you in a position where it’s hard for you to think of putting the nation before the party, Phil. Think really fuckin’ hard about that.

What the what? The USPS can just “turn down” a federal judge’s order to sweep 12 postal districts in the search for 300,000 lost ballots?

The U.S. Postal Service turned down a federal judge’s order late Tuesday afternoon to sweep mail processing facilities serving 15 states, saying instead it would stick to its own inspection schedule. The judge’s order came after the agency disclosed that more than 300,000 ballots nationwide could not be traced.

What’s the consequence for ignoring it? Nothing? Then why not ignore it?

I remember when “contempt of court” used to be a real thing. Apparently not anymore.

Seriously, Judge Sullivan, start issuing some f***ing bench warrants. Then see how fast Joe PostOffice gets making with a broom.

See? Trump warned us that mail in votes are not secure. They could, for example, fall victim to the fact that the person in charge of the post office was appointed by one of the candidates.

If the election is something like 275-263, or worse yet, a 269-269 tie, all electors for both sides will need Secret-Service like protection for weeks.

This is helpful. Most of the votes will be counted today in FL, AZ, NC and GA. Biden only needs one, again assuming he gets WI and MI, which will also be mostly counted.

Come on NC! Make us all feel a lot better early

Cool, thanks. I’ll give them a look.

The two things I keep repeating to my wife are the critical role of DeJoy in this election and the backstop that the Trump SCOTUS provides.

It’s not who votes. It’s who counts the votes …

Yeah. I may as well start drinking, too. Would somebody let my dog out to pee before bedtime ??

Don’t know about today’s lines, because I voted by mail almost a month ago, but the feedback I’m seeing on Facebook has said that at least in Iowa, they usually aren’t very long. Not many people are waiting in line, and they’re getting in and out quickly.

Considering the number of people who voted in advance, this doesn’t surprise me. I just heard on the news that as of now, 63% of registered voters in my county have cast their ballots, but we’re open for 4 more hours and the record was 71% in 2008.
