Donald Trump is hereby claiming on twitter that Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina electoral votes are his. Who knew it was that easy?
Here’s the clip of that press conference. I forgot that Eric Trump was the kick-off speaker, I guess Daddy wanted someone experienced at losing.
And I was partly wrong about the masks, the 4 speakers did not wear masks when they weren’t speaking. Everyone else was masked though, and I saw some of the biggest masks I’ve ever seen.
Damn, why didn’t Biden think of that?
He should have thrown Michigan and/or Nevada in there too since he’s going to need at least one of them…
Heh. Twitter has flagged about half the Trump Tweets of the past 24 hours as being disputed and/or misleading, including that one.

Someone tell me that this isn’t Trump’s crossing the Rubicon moment.
Thank you Folly and Jas09. That was my original understanding, but I was reading an article that explicitly said ballots could be counted until Friday. It was either poorly written, or the reporter didn’t know the difference themselves.
I especially hate horror movies that are Priceless!
Oh wait, I actually looked at the tweet and he does throw Michigan in at the end. And something ridiculous about secretly dumped ballots?
“Widely reported” secretly dumped ballots. Why, he’s been reporting widely on it for weeks!
The “hereby” is my favorite part of that declaration. I hereby declare that the only people who use the word “hereby” are trying to sound legally official about something that they don’t understand in the slightest.
Not much of a secret then…
Maybe misremembering those missing 300K which DeJoy refuses to look for?
Decriminalized (meaning it’s a ticket, not a misdemeanor) possession of small amounts. Manufacturing and distributing are still crimes.
Ballots postmarked by election day that come in by Nov. 6 will be counted, is my understanding. My understanding is that, by law, they are only supposed to count ballots that arrive by election day. The PA Supreme Court extended the deadline due to the present circumstances. The US Supreme Court let that ruling stand, for now, but hinted that they might look at it after the election. Based on my understanding of precedents, it would not be surprising if they overturned the extension by PA’s Supreme Court.
PA voters were told to not chance it and get their ballots in by election day to be safe. The “late” ballots are being segregated. It remains to be seen how many will come in after Nov. 3, and before Nov. 6. As far as I know, states just have to certify their results (to be safe) by the safe harbor deadline of Dec. 8.
Upon what do you base that understanding? Can you cite the law?
My understanding of that is based on the fact that, as widely reported, the PA Supreme Court extended the deadline. By implication, there was a deadline that had to be extended. No, I don’t have a cite to the law at the moment.
“Ballots must be delivered by 8pm on Election Day but the sooner the better.” From here: https://www.votespa.com/Voting-in-PA/Pages/Mail-and-Absentee-Ballot.aspx
OK, I found this:
Mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania have previously been due by the time polls close on Election Day. But the court’s order adds a three-day extension to receive ballots that are postmarked by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots with a preelection postmark will now be counted as long as they are received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 6, three days after the polls close.
It seems odd to me that ballots would have to be received by the time polls close on Election Day, as voters have no control over the Postal Service. If a voter mails a ballot in good faith before the polls close, then he or she should expect it to be delivered on time – but expectations are problematic when dealing with such a large logistics operation, especially when efforts were made to prevent delivery of mail.
Here, ballots postmarked before the polls close are accepted up to 21 days after Election Day. ISTM that under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment that PA voters should enjoy the same rights and privileges as voters in other states.
Ugh, I am dying just waiting for one more state to announce Biden has won it. Please!
Nevada! Arizona!
OR JUST PENNSYLVANIA!!!
What would happen if he suddenly stops Tweeting? Are any underlings standing by to check on his health?
