I never thought I’d be saying this about this election, but c’mon Nevada! Who knew that state could be the tipping point?
There seem to be differing opinions how many and where outstanding ballots are coming from in Arizona, so I hope someone hasn’t made a Dewey-level fuckup.
I think that’s actually the product of having a weak and vague platform to begin with. I think the strategy all along was to not be Trump, which I’ve been critical, but perhaps it might have been his best path to victory after all.
Biden clearly didn’t want to commit to a position on that issue or any other. He wanted to hide in his basement, select Kamala Harris, and let, well, Trump be Trump. That approach had its hazards, as we have seen with mixed results in terms of black and brown enthusiasm for his campaign. OTOH, it might have made him a little less threatening to white moderates who were sick of Trump.
To be fair to Biden, it was one - maybe a handful - of comments to that effect. It’s not like he made anti-fracking the centerpiece of his campaign. He didn’t campaign on being a radical environmentalist; he campaigned on being a normal president.
That said, I agree with you that there are some warning signs going forward. I think the Democrats need an identity based on economics for the working class, but they have to do that in a way that doesn’t come across as being the party that wipes someone’s ass every time he shits in his pants.
On the Good Morning Britain TV show this morning, Sarah Palin, believe it or not, actually supported Arizona Republicans who voted against Trump based on loyalty to McCain.
I’ve heard her say nice things about Biden. The Vice Presidential Debate she had with him got higher ratings than any of the Obama-McCain debates which is a bit strange.
Wonder what the trio of facists on FOX will say tonight? Talk about the “illegal” 125k votes in PA, say it is illegal to keep counting today, claim massive fraud, say they are sure Trump will win AZ and PA, or switch to “we must fight against the coming of socialism”
Some analysis revealed that several of the house democrats who were elected in 2018 but lost their seats in this election ran behind Biden in their districts. Some as much as 10 points. So from that it looks like in 2018 there were independents or registered Republicans who voted to put a check on Trump by supporting downballot Dems but once the presidency was on the ballot and they could vote against Trump they were happy to support downballot Republicans again. Republicans are going to be happy to have cut into Pelosi’s majority.
