Election Results

Update on VA11 - now a 300 vote lead for the GOP with 70% reported… this one might take awhile.

Yay! O’Donnell speech on CNN! I love me the crazy concessions speeches (JOEMENTUM!)

That’s an awfully low bar.

Manchin may be a Dem, but the projections I’m hearing are that on policies such as Cap & Trade and Obamacare, he’ll be siding with the Rep’s

Results that have or would make me feel better:

Cuomo, Schumer, and Gillibrand winning in NY
Tonko and Murphy winning in NY
Denish, Heinreich, and Teague winning in NM
Sestak winning in PA
The results in DE and CT
Bennett and Hickenlooper winning in CO; bonus points if Maes comes in under 10%

I think it would actually be rather a remarkable accomplishment considering the shit Obama inherited. Clinton lost both Houses during his first mid-term and cleaned the Republicans’ clock for reelction. The way I see it, Obama is doing better than either Clinton or Reagan did at this same point in their Presidencies.

I’m astonished at O’Donnell’s gall: I asked him to adopt all my positions. I hope Coons didn’t sprain his eyeballs.

On the bright side, “We’ve got a lot of food, we’ve got the room all night, so let’s party!” Can’t argue with that, Christine.

Their directive is to halt and further Obama initiatives.

Maybe the 1st order of business will be to actually pass a budget, which is their primary job (a fact lost on the last House)

Yup, and I’m A-OK with that, as long as he votes for Schumer for Majority Leader.

Oh my…the Republicans are leading **in Detroit. ** in the race for governor.

Geez, setting the bar high, aren’t we?

I’m rooting for the “Rent Is 2 Damn High” guy to get at least 1%.

Shush, you. You’ll scare those results away - they’re like a frightened little deer you have to coax out from hiding.

Well, I had to start somewhere. The higher bars were a bit further down. Nice to live in a state that, with all its problems, at least isn’t completely crazy.

Sestak is looking surprisingly good. So is Giannoulias, but from what I understand the early results are heavily weighted toward the Chicago area. Still, both have a good few points to spare and a good percentage of the vote counted. The Republicans’ hopes for the Senate might be dead before Nevada comes into play.

The House, on the other hand, well, let’s not talk about that.

Rand Paul brings out the Balanced Budget Amendment on CNN. Good luck with that, Rand.

Also says:
Clinton-era tax rates == Second American Depression

“We all either work for rich people, or we sell stuff to rich people, so let’s keep rich peoples’ taxes low!”

Maybe he is crazy enough to filibuster us into default…

She was due.

That was their objective for the last two years, but now they actually have to initiate something themselves.

I’m sure their first order of business will be to try to pass a bill giving giant tax give-aways to billionaires, but after that gets shot down in teh Senate, they’ll be kind of stuck. They do HAVE to pass a budget, though and they have to pass one that will stand up in the Senate. They can’t try another government shutdown like Gingrich in '95 because they don’t have the Senate. They are going to have no choice but to work with Obama.

Michele Batshit says they’re going to start a bunch of investigations against Obama, but that will backfire on them too. It will annoy independents that they’re wasting time and momey on it, and it will annoy the teabaggers that there isn’t anything to find. There isn’t going to be any come-stained dress this time. This is really probably the best thing that could have happened to Obama (and to a lot of chickenshit Democrats as well). Let the comedy begin. it’s not like they can actually do any damage as long as Dems still have the Senate and the White House.

I’m not sure the Tea Party is doing as well as they’d hoped. They’re losing the blue states and winning the red states, pretty much what I would have expected from Republicans who weren’t Tea Partiers. It looks like Wisconsin will be a big pick-up for them. Colorado looks like a nail-biter, and, of course, Nevada is yet to come.

Too bad that fact was completely discarded by the last Congress

I’m just taking some solace in knowing that the Teabaggers will be the lowest on the totem pole, power-wise. They’ll get the crap committee assignments and lousy office space.

With any luck, they’ll get bored and shut up.
