They were chickenshits. this is good for them. The only good thing about the Dems is that they aren’t Republicans.
Reid up one in CNN exit polling… very interesting… if these polls are off by a few points in either way all of PA, NV, WI, and IL could swing.
Um, the teabaggers would consider a government shutdown a success…and they can stop all legislation with a House majority.
Darrell Issa is typing up subpoenas as we speak. I’m betting this will be a replay of the Clinton impeachment. They may not having anything that sticks, but debating Obama’s citizenship, ACORN, and the Black Panthers will allow them to distract the populace from the economic issues and claim that they’re fighting “corruption.”
I think both of thses strategies would backfire on them badly.
Now I see a 167 vote lead for the Dems with 91% reported.
I get what you’re saying Dio but I don’t think I agree.
You think that a rational electorate will expect the Republican majority in the House to work and produce results.
I on the other hand no longer expect the electorate to behave rationally. The same voters that re-elected GW Bush in 2004 switched to his polar opposite in 2008.
The exit polls say the economy is the most important issue for voters, yet they’re putting the party that created the disaster back in charge, partially at least.
90% of everything is crap and at least that percentage of voters are ignorant, lazy and easily led.
I expect the Republican majority in the house to continue the anti-everything-Obama strategy that has worked so well for them in the last two years. Whether that gets them re-elected we’ll know in in two more.
But it doesn’t have to be that way, Mr Rand.
No way 40 others are.
But it only takes one. He can put a hold on the legislation that would raise the debt ceiling.
He can’t filibuster alone, but he can stop all Senate business by refusing hotlining, like Demint did.
Well, then, I hope he tries. Let’s see if that spurs a rules change.
Well, It’s hard to believe John Dingell might actually be out. He has been there since Julius Caesar, I figured the seat was his till he died in it.
Feingold loses in Wisconsin.
That’s too bad. One might have thought his independent streak would have insulated him from the wave. Maybe if the Dems pick up PA, CO, IL, and NV (huge if, of course), we can trade 2-3 of those for Feingold? It would be a fair deal in my book.
John Hickenlooper is the next governor of Colorado. From the owner of a bar and grill on Larimer Street to the Governor’s Mansion. What a long, strange trip it’s been.
Maes is at 9% at last count. But if you add him and Tancredo together, Hick is still winning 53-46.
Somehow I don’t expect Feingold to lose his seat in the final result.
Mark Dayton is waxing the Tea Party candidate Tom Emmer in the Minnesota Governor’s race. That was supposed to close but it’s not turning out to be. That’s really interesting because Dayton went completely against conventional wisdom in the current climate by running campaign ads vowing to raise taxes on rich people and saying, “it’s time to make the rich pay their fair share.” An utterly counterintuitive thing to do right now, but it worked. You have to like the chutzpah. Dare I say it’s reminiscent of Wellstone?
The Republicans just pulled into a slight lead in IL and PA. Living in Massachusetts, I have difficulty understanding these things. I recall reading that in my neighborhood, the Dem to Rep ratio is 16:1. I don’t understand the rest of the country sometimes.
Looks like a done deal to me. Looks like pkbites in his OP over in the Wisconsin thread has pretty much nailed the results. That one is a major gain for the Tea Party.
This is exactly the reason why I told my friends that Obama is the key person with his veto power. Tyranny of the majority will always dominate the Congress. The people didnt look at bigger picture but look at petty self-interests such as tax and abortion. I get sick of conservatives crying about abortion while they didn’t nothing to outright ban it and they are hypocrites. Republicans will never save the country like FDR but take opporunity to destroy it.
Don’t forget an oil and gas geologist BEFORE owning a bar and grill BEFORE the governor’s mansion.
