Election Results

GOP +4 in Senate.

Well, not only is the Kirk/Giannoulias race looking like a nailbiter but Quinn is holding a decent lead over Brady for Governor in Illinois. I thought both of those would be done and over in the Repubs favor at this point. With 75% of the vote in I’m just gonna keep my fingers crossed.

How pathetic. What happened to the bloodbath?

lol

That’s so far, Dio. Does not include possible IL, CO, NV pickups.

Oh, no? Just watch 'em.

Even if they get all of those, it still won’t be enough.

It might not be enough but, losing IL and NV will just be embarrassing.

There is no real way to spin tonight as anything but negative for progressive politics. Time to suck it up and see how things can be done differently next time.

The Republican debacle for the governorship of Colorado does not appear to be affecting the down-ticket races. Betsy Markey and John Salazar both are poised to lose their House seats, and Perlmutter is in a tight race. (All Democrats)

It’s in the House where the expected GOP gains are twice the average for a mid-term election. You are a true believer if you can spin tonight’s results as a positive for the Democrats.

Not enough to win control the of the Senate, but more than enough to make it a great night for the GOP, even given the sky-high expectations.

The real question is how is this setting up 2012? I don’t see much changing from tonight unfortunately.

Not to mention the Reps have taken over 8 state Governor’s houses, so far

Like I said in 2005: Embrace economic populism, downplay cultural liberalism. No other way to woo the white working class.

They’ve already proven that they place a higher priority on opposing Obama at all costs than on stopping abortion. Remember the health care bill? When they found they couldn’t kill the whole thing, they settled for just killing the Sestack amendment instead.

Well, the Republicans have a lot to sing about tonight. (Thank you Patton Oswalt.)

Corbett and Toomey in PA. The Toomey-Sestak race was much closer than I thought it would be, but with 97% reporting Toomey’s up by 49,000 votes. Toomey got devastated in Philadelphia (a whopping 16%), but in the end Fast Eddie’s sleaze killed the Democrats here in Pennsylvania. Good riddance to him, and suck it, Philadelphia.

Too bad the Republicans ran Lynn Swann last time, I would have voted for almost anybody but Rendell in 2006 but Swann had no business running, and we paid for it the last 4 years (and for a long time to come). Still, no more Governor of Philadelphia and Screw Everyone Else Rendell.

Pro tip for the Democrats: Cut Fast Eddie loose, he’ll only drag you down. Make him DNC Chairman and you’re screwed. I promise you.

Patty Murray was losing early on in Washington by 55-45. Now she’s leading. Kurt Schrader in Oregon had a large lead on the Pubie, now it’s close. But Schrader will win it. Kitzhaber is leading for Oregon gov, but Dudley is gaining.

It’s been called for Perlmutter and he’s already given his victory speech. Something seems messed up in the Colorado vote totals vs. the % of precints reporting, unless the precints not reporting are the tiniest ones in the state. Markey has lost, but Salazar is still close and closing the gap.
