I agree. It’s funny, refreshing and frequently surprising. Unfortunately, here in Milwaukee it’s on at 6pm. . . and I don’t get home from work until 6:30pm, so I only get to see the second half of the show. I know, I know. . . I could tape it. But then I’d have to find time to watch. . . and you know how that is!
I’ve not seen any evidence that she’s not “over” the cancellation of either of her previous shows. (Yes, she had another sitcom after the original “Ellen” that CBS botched from jumpstreet.) She’s still extremely funny, but moreover, she’s a good interviewer. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, she doesn’t going overboard with the fawning fan thing like some people we could name (Rosie, Caroline and Oprah, are your ears burning?) and she’s got a good rapport with people in general, more Letterman-like than anything.

Why oh why can’t we have more Ellen and Wayne and less Montel and Ricki and Jenny? Why are those shows still hanging on? Why are we deluged with Dr. Phil and his crap pop psychologizing? Give us celebrities and music and special interest guests! Give us humor! Give us people with personality!
