One reason why I Pitted Elvis rather than try to resolve the matter in the GD thread was that I wanted to discuss the poster as well as the post.
But a second reason was that Elvis’ and my back-and-forth was on its way to becoming a personal squabble of the I-said-this, no, you-said-that variety. Kinda like what QED and I were having here. 
There’s nothing in the rules that says that such a squabble can’t play out in GD, and I’ve been in more than a few like that there. But I’m not particularly proud of that, it’s certainly not what GD is for, and if it’s a live thread, it just gets in the way of the debate proper.
So what I’m saying is that opening this thread got the squabble out of the GD thread, and IMHO that’s a good thing, regardless of the lameness of this thread.
I wouldn’t fret over it, RT. On the scale of Useless Pit Threads, yours is nowhere near the top.
Even if it was, it wouldn’t trouble me, for the reasons I just gave.
The link provided in the OP is just one of many examples of the pattern of behavior that’s gotten to be so tiresome from EL1. Kinda like how any of Clinton’s gaffes would be looked over, if there weren’t more than one can count on both hands.

Hmmm, who has been more of an asshole lately, Elvis or QED? I’ve seen a lot more of Elvis’s asshattery than **QED[/]‘s but at least Elvis’ has a motive behind his. QED has turned into an asshole just for the sake of being an asshole.
I guess it’s a question of quality over quantity.

You know what? You’re absolutely right. I still think this could–and should–have been dealt with in the GD thread, but having read a few of Elvis’s political posts, I must say I completely understand the desire to take it here. So, RT and everyone else who got dragged into this side argument, you have my sincere apologies. Not to excuse myself, but I’ve always been impressed with his posts in GQ as a jet engine designer; I mistakely assumed the same would extend to the rest of his posts, as well. Sorry.
