Enterprise Vanishing Point thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Spellnig is fore chumps! It is higly Illogicle

Hey, it’s on this week! I’m actually glad that I made a mistake. I tend to get UPN and FOX confused because I watch so many shows on both. And they were both running movies on Friday nights for a while there, but FOX is back to first runs for the time being on FF.
Do be sure to continue posting your chock-full-o’-spoilers threads for the Trek movies, please. We need something to do between now and whenever they start showing new episodes of Enterprise.

I’ll start a new thread for STIII:TSFS, but I doubt it’ll get as much response.

I’m looking through my

to see what else just might spark some interest. Be sure to pick up your copy of

at your local book store. If they don’t have it in stock, ask them to order it. That’s

(His wife is an old friend of my cousin ((pre-marraige(((actually, I met her when she was with her 1st husband((((Who ended up macking on my cousin after he and she split)))) ))) ))and was working as a script consultant at UPN the last time they visited here. Maybe I can fill them in on what we all think, no? Yeah, now if I could only find that e-mail address…)

Um, what was I doing here…?

Well, I watched on Wednesday night, but ended up falling asleep for the last 15 minutes of the show. So I planned on watching the rerun, which usually plays on Saturday night at 8 pm. Except my local UPN station decided they’d rather show a local college basketball game! (Granted, it was the Terps, the National Champions, but still!!!) Instead, they reran the episode tonight (Sunday) at 8 pm. Great, that’s when I’m watching American Dreams. Argh, I could have taped it, but after reading this thread, I decided not to.

I am becoming very disillusioned with the show–it’s not that I don’t love Star Trek or even the characters on Enterprise; rather, it’s Berman & Braga and the direction they seem to be going with the show. I was hyped to see a show featuring Hoshi and thought that there would be some great potential. Now I’m almost glad that I missed the last 15 minutes, to find out it was all a dream. I kept thinking during the 45 minutes that I was watching that there was something off, but couldn’t exactly figure out what it was; though there were a lot of things that seemed unresolvable. I’m not going to stop watching Enterprise but I’ll definitely watch it with a jaundiced eye now, unfortunately.

Mrs. Plant also hates the it-was-only-a-dream plot device, so you are in good company, but I think it was good here. Of course, they can only use it once. Sort of self satire of the much complained of reset button. What we thought would be flaws were hints of reality.

Now what would be outstanding is meeting up with those aliens under different circumstances…naw, that’s too Babylon 5 or Andromeda.

I recall a voyager episode with aliens in dreams, but it was all a trap, until Chakotay de-dreamed and threatened to shoot the sleeping aliens. I think all of them going to sleep was the flaw in their plan.

[Groucho Marx]“And the flaw in Berman’s plan is that everyone might fall asleep watching Enterprise”[/Groucho Marx]
Sorry.

I missed this one on Wednesday and stumbled across it last night. Boy, was that ending lame. I mean…lame.

And am I the only one beginning to be embarassed for the cast? I really like the show but I have visions of script meetings that begin with one of them saying, “Who gets naked this week? Sigh.”

Not that I mind nakedness, per se…but the show would be better served to produce better stories to hold my attention.

It is strange that Andromeda, where Sorbo says we are supposed to “want to sleep with” the characters, doesn’t resort to nudity.

But my kids like to sing along with the theme song, so that makes up for everything else, right?

I used to sing along with TOS theme song.

There’s NO WAY I can get those words to fit that melody!

Call me a loon for saying this, but it seems to me that every Star Trek series ever took 2-3 years to really find its legs (except TOS, of course–every episode of that show was pure, unadulterated genius). I’m still in “be patient; it’ll get better” mode.

And besides, IMHO, weak new Star Trek episodes are better than no new Star Trek at all.

NOT OUT OF THIS WORLD
As Enterprise hits ratings turbulence, UPN seeks ways to fire up its sex appeal

By J. Max Robins

A scant season ago, the latest Star Trek series, starring Scott Bakula, was a Top 20 show with 18- to 49-year-old male viewers. But Enterprise’s ratings have plunged, and critics say the series doesn’t have the same creative juice as its predecessors. “Enterprise started out strong,” says Stacey Lynn Koerner, senior vice president and director of broadcast research at Initiative Media, a media-buying firm. “But this season it seems lost in space.” UPN president Dawn Ostroff says that the Enterprise crew is ready to explore new directions and that trailers for the series shown in theaters in conjunction with the release of the movie Star Trek Nemesis should recharge interest. “We’ve been working on the show,” Ostroff says. “It’s getting sexier. We’re exploring relationships more and pushing the dramatic elements of the show. You’ll see a lot more sides to the characters.”

Great more pandering and “A-team” plots-- you watch. The reason the ratings suck is that the scripts have sucked. No real mystery there. Sigh. Enterprise is in real trouble. . .
:frowning:

Save Enterprise!

How about Hoshi’s five sisters join the crew, and they spend time giving each other massages and bubble baths. We can worry about plots later. (except Mr. T the Klingon needs to show up!)

“I pity the fool that is not honorable!”

No, no, please, no.

Was that T’Pol talking? I get so confused - who’s s’posed to be honorable these days?

next season: T’Pol and Klingon Mr. T have a baby boy. They call him Mr. T’Pol.

I have to take a nap now…
