Just pointing out that volunteering at an animal shelter may introduce you to some nice girls, while simultaneously providing you with a large supply of bored puppies. I’m seriouslies, puppies are like mind control devices where chicks are concerned.
Game in WoW?
Just remember: a female night elf is most likely not a female in real life. A female human, handle with care. A female gnome may be female, as well as a female tauren. A female dwarf is highly likely to be female. At least in the Euro servers.
Join the youth group in your parish? That’s how my bro met his wife, she was from another parish and the youth groups from several parishes get together every year for Easter.
Oh, and do not instantly examine every woman of eligible age as “possible wife” and discard her completely if she doesn’t match the woman of your dreams exactly. That bro was the “escorting knight” of several of his classmates (and the mother of one of them) for a while before meeting his Lady; this gave him a lot of practice with the troubles of females his own age.
Oh, I’m not looking for a wife tommorow. But I do want to get married someday, and sadly, all of my female friends more or less cleared of years ago, moving away and so on. I guess it left me feeling rather lnely, especially because I see my other (male) friends on a somewhat aukward schedule. I wind up staying home alone an awful lot, as I’m not a bar owner.
Quit your job and go to work for some non-profit instead, preferably one that has something to do with children in some way. I’ve worked at three, and the current one is the only one I’ve had any male coworkers at all.
OK, promise you won’t laugh. Give Mensa a try. (**Nava, I can hear you laughing from here!;)) I wouldn’t have believed it a few years ago, but I know several people who’ve gotten married to other Mensans, and it’s one place where intelligence is considered sexy. It’s where I met the fellow I’ve been dating for the past couple of years, and, smiling bandit, from what I’ve seen of you, you’d certainly do well there, as would a bunch of Dopers. By the way, Phase42, I met him when he was about 40, so don’t give up yet.
You might also want to give ballroom dancing a try. The class I’m in is about half men, half women, but if either sex is going to be in the majority, it’s more likely to be women. You have a built-in excuse to talk to them and a subject to talk to them about. It’s also more popular with women than men overall, so the odds are in your favor. If nothing else, it’s good exercise, and, in my opinion, there’s something classy and stylish about a man who can dance.
Other than that, I’ll echo what others have said. Do things you think are interesting and see who you meet. I never was much good at the bar scene, but I like talking to people who are at the same odd events I am. You’ve also got the same advantage dancing gives you – a built-in topic of conversation.
I wish you luck. Everything I’ve seen of you here tells me you’d be quite attractive and, if you were a bit closer and I weren’t spoken for, I’d offer to throw my hat in the ring.
I should have known. Mention Mensa and my coding goes to hell.
