Damn, I thought it started next week. Will there be repeats?
Then I take it you have never enjoyed the brilliance that is The Guild.
I’ve seen a number of episodes, but the only ones I’ve enjoyed are the few that feature Venom.
Well, tastes vary, I guess, though I’ll grant you Venom was fun. Wish she and Zabu’s former GF had had a longer story arc after they hooked up. Interesting pair.
Last night’s episode was fantastic, if only for the cameo. Sure, all the lines were low-hanging fruit, but it was awesome low-hanging fruit. I know he’s quite old, but I hope Generalissimo returns for more cameos.
They seem to be backing away from the whole “Henry saves the day” cliche they had been milking previously, which is good. I would watch Felicia Day read a phone book, so having her on the show is Really Good.
My non-geek wife actually got the *Generalissimo’*s lines, so there is hope.
Henry may not be building his deus ex machinae*, but it still is always Carter figuring things out. The brains still don’t have common sense; only Zane shows any. As for Wheaton not evacuating, he should be fired over that. Besides, he’s already been to space too.
Day is cute, but not watch her read a phone book level. She can be quite fetching when done up properly.
The lines, the images on his powerpoint screen, the music, that cameo was top notch all around. Only way it could’ve been better is if that guy standing behind him that didn’t get any lines had been played by Lou Ferrigno.
I was more disturbed by the revamp of Fargo’s character as the can-do guy. I know he’s been developing as a person, but that was just weird.
Here is the Eureka panel from Comic Con. They all seem like fun people who really enjoy working together.
I am really digging this (half) season. I was worried the quality would go back down after dealing with the whole “new reality” last season, but it’s been even better. I loved Carter’s reaction to there being a bank robbery, and the callback to the opening with the floating cars. And Wil Wheaton has been a great addition. We haven’t had just a real dick character since Stark.
Wil’s take on the season so far.
The floating cars were cool, and the love triangle is getting snarky, which is good. Looks like they discover what the Consortium is up to next week.
The characters have - mostly - been made more boring. Allison’s no longer in charge of GD and has been demoted to sickbay (more or less). Isn’t this the woman who said in an earlier episode she hadn’t practiced medicine in any way since before Kevin had been born? It just isn’t believable that she walks back into the doctor role.
And Kevin has been made a hundred times less interesting. He’s now the generic teen character; there’s nothing particularly special about him. The young actor is fairly competent, but the characterization is boring me to tears. Why is he even there? Zoe was interesting because of the emotional connection and tug back and forth between her and Carter, the family struggle and relationship. Kevin, there’s nothing there.
Wil Wheaton - he’s OK as a ‘now and then’ appearance, but he isn’t cutting it as the rather transparent and clumsy attempt to replace some of the Stark dynamic. He’s not projecting any depth and the depth in addition to the snark was what made Stark interesting…and why fans, even now, keep asking about bringing him back. Wheaton has got to be capable of more, but it seems like every role he does lately is pretty much the same character.
What I have seen in the scripts so far for Season 4.0 and 4.5 is also an issue of dept. They seem to have forgotten that living in Eureka is supposed to be dangerous. It’s like the cartoons where no one gets hurt, not really, not anymore…
The show is still great and I’m still watching. But it’s a lot less in some ways than it used to be. There are several episodes from seasons 1 and 2 that still leave me sniffling when I watch them; not so lately.
My bride and I lub Eureka. We watch it on Amazon Video.
We both miss Nathan Stark. I keep hoping he returns from his time warp trip.
I don’t like this week’s twist with the Alison Blake arc.
Having her under control was good. Having her be a bio-bot, and her real body be at the control site, that’s Not Good.
Look again.
That’s not Allison on the table, it’s Beverly. She’s all hooked up with sensors so she can take over Allison’s mind whenever she wants. That’s why Allison keeps having blackouts.
Yeah, that would have been a little too Doctor Who.
Thanks silenus. I will look again tonight.
Gah, I totally didn’t know this was coming up! A lot of shows on syfy tend to be discontinued midrun and I thought this was going to be one of them so I ended up giving up on it. sigh Guess I’ll just have to catch up on it tonight after work.
