Ever been to Pisgah? A place names MMP

Rebo bummer indeed! :frowning:

I’ve been to French Lick, Indiana. Even stayed there.

I once went to Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux Center, IA and Sioux City, IA all in one week. That’s the week I also got a tour of the Blue Bunny ice cream factory in LeMars, IA.

I live near the Swamp of Toa, which is the second largest swamp in Jawja.

As far as religious names go, we do have Bethlehem in Jawja. I don’t know of any places in Jawja named Pisgah though.

Exam is tomorrow- these are just lab reports! Imagine what I’ll clean to avoid grading exams!

skim…skim…skim…Monday sucks ass, skim…

I have been to the Bong Recreational Area in Wisconsin!

I’ve been to Lower Fannys Hole, Idaho. There’s nothing in Fannys Hole any more except a historical marker.

I used to live in West Virginia. There was a nearby town called Mountain I used to drive through occasionally. Not so funny, right? It used to be called Mole Hill. In 1949, as part of an advertising stunt, townspeople officially turned a Mole Hill into a Mountain.

Another town in W.Va., which I never visited, is Big Ugly. The story goes that a local newspaper headline once read “Big Ugly Girl Wins Beauty Contest.” I have never been able to confirm that the headline was real.

That description fits all of Cottonfield County, BTW. You also forgot Chicken Corner, NC, which is near Elizabeth City (AKA Betsy Town).

Swampy, you mentioned French Lick (IN) without paying homage to Floyd’s Knob?

Just because it’s fun to say, there’s Shipshewana, Indiana, too. A little east of Shipshe are the booming metropoli of Brushy Prairie (yup, it is) and Mongo, which got the name long before Alex Karras made it famous.

Hey all,
The weather is here! Wish you were beautiful!
Love,
Wile E

There is a little place in Washington state, on the banks of the Columbia river, called Dismal Nitch. The story is that The Lewis & Clark Expedition spent six days near here waiting for a storm to let up so they could get around Point Ellice.
When we saw the sign we drove down the road there, but didn’t find much.

I’ve also been to Boring Oregon, but didn’t go to the Boring Drive-In for a Boring Burger.

I’ve been to a lot of othe rfunny places, but their names escape me at the moment.

Waiting for the grass to dry out enough to mow.

Exciting, I know.

<hijack> I’m about to pick up the Other Shoe and go to the JP’s office to apply for a marriage license. We were planning to marry Thursday morning. Apparently, there’s a 72-hour waiting period here. does math Oops. </hijack>

I lived for a few years in Normal, IL. Most exciting thing about that place is its name, IIRC. (I was little, so I might not.)

I’ve been to Pisgah, Wales. It’s not as exciting as it sounds.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks. Not too shabby.

Although my mailing address is Mechanicsville, the area where I live used to be served by the Helen post office. So if you wanted to come visit me, I’d just tell you to go to Helen, Maryland.

We’ve also got Avenue and Scotland in our county, as well as California and Hollywood. And Loveville is just south of Helen on Rt 5.

Happy Monday. It be right chilly here at the moment - about 55°F in my back yard. Supposed to drop into the 40s overnight. Yay for autumn!!!

Daughter and spousal unit are both feeling better, so yay for that. Now, I just need to stay healthy. No idea what to do for supper. Yeah, you wish you had my life…

I’ve been to Hell.

(Grand Cayman)

Turns out the JP office is not ezzactly “romantic.” Decades-old linoleum floors, bored bureaucratic clerks, etc. etc. I have to wonder about those clerks: what have they seen? Do they ever think “Oh, honey, surely you can do better than that?!

I have the receipt (and licence) in my car. Weird concept. I’m licenced, as if getting married is like shooting a gun. I have a recept: apparently, I bought a husband on my lunchbreak!

When we eloped, we said our vows in a bookkeeping office. (In FL, a notary can do the deed.) Total strangers signed as witnesses. Maybe not romantic, but we’re coming up on 27 years, so apparently, it took.

We did Bad Chinese for supper. As soon as I finish reading the comics and Dear Abby, I’m going to resume the knitting position. I expect that’ll be my evenings from now till Christmas.

In Michigan, just north of Manistee, is the village of Onekama, on Portage Lake. We used to call it “one comma” although the correct pronunciation is Oh Neck Ah Ma,

We’re having my favorite chicken, Popeye’s, for dinner tonight, woo hoo! And some Cajun rice for me, double Woo!

I need prayers and good thoughts for JDD Brother, again. He had a fall last night and blacked out which meant an ambulance trip to the horsepistol where he remains. The doc wants to do some tests and there’s apparently some concern re his kidney functioning. As I understand it, that might not be uncommon for someone undergoin’ both chemo and radiation therapy. I went to see him and he did not look great. Well, duh, he is in the horsepistol bear! I mean he looks all ashen.

OYKW has a colonoscopy scheduled for Wednesday so good thoughts/vibes/prayers etc for [del]me[/del] him would also be appreciated. Tomorrow he can have broth and Jell-O only and gets to start takin’ teh ick stuff tomorrow evenin’. Thus I shall also eat broth and Jell-O to show my solidarity. Plus, while he’s gettin’ all scoped out Wednesday I can go eat brekkie.

And that’s the excitatement from swampland.

Survived another day at work, walked the dogs, now it’s dinner time.

Prayers sent for JDD Brother, swampy.

Welcome newbies! Lenny the Squidgoat will be along shortly to “welcome” you.

Sorry, MBG ,that sucks.

Sorry about the trip, Rebo.

Soapy, Gordie would be happy to eat your papers for you. And your chair.

StG, 57 in the house? brrr.

Boo to MBG and Rebo both.

Just had some yummy pizza for dinner! That’s the most excitement that’s happening here.

Can I just say that all the “Jews this, Israel that” threads are starting to wear on me…

Mr. Bus Guy’s post and the one following have been moved hither to a new thread.
