The last quote doesn’t say that the claim was that it always means “Fuck you.” Even if it only means “Fuck you” some of the time, the claim as you stated it would be true. So your claim that it was “made up” is false, and also intended to be misleading.
But the first quote suggests that you now do acknowledge that you sometimes use it to mean “Fuck you.” Just so long as we’re clear on that.

Speaking generally, Shodan is very good at what he does. And part of what he does is distort his claims made earlier, often on a previous page of the same thread. So extensive use of the multi quote function is advised. Also, be sure to stay on message.
It possible, even probable, that you lack the mental and moral capacity to understand when you are lying. So technically, you may not be lying in the same sense that a dog can’t be lying. But that doesn’t make my statement a lie.

Context is your friend. My post was in response to a question by MrDibble regarding posts to which I had referred in an exchange with BPC discussing what had occurred in the ATMB thread. The posters, there, were not Modded because he was choosing to interact with them. The topic of any poster’s behavior in this thread or this forum was never an issue.

I’m definitely favoring Shodan in this exchange, but rather than try to track the back and forth to convince you, there’s a different point I’d like to make. Although Shodan once said that his sign off could sometimes mean “fuck you” (and some idiot became obsessed with that remark) doesn’t necessarily make it true. “Fuck you” is a catch all substitute for a lot of more precise insults. It can cover “yer an idiot” and “yer not worth talking to” and a dozen other dismissals.
It might have been equally accurate for Shodan to say that sometimes Regards meant Yer worthless and contemptible. More accurate. I don’t know if phrasing it that way would have kept the obsessive idiot from becoming obsessed, but maybe, since it doesn’t use the forbidden insult.
But all this is conjecture. Maybe Shodan was being precise and literal when he said that sometimes it meant Fuck You.

When I said his “Regards” were meant as “fuck you and everyone looks like you”, I wasn’t *quoting *the sorry chucklefuck. I meant the general sentiment, not the specific OMG naughty forbidden words.
It’s just self-evident to me that his sig line is meant as snide, “I’m not touching you !”-style form of deniable insult, disparagement or dismissal. Because, as I said, I’m from a social milieu where that kind of chickenshit jackassery is ubiquitous. And just as obnoxious.

Respectfully the population is those who have been surrounded by pitchforks in the past. That’s a smaller number than the quantity of conservatives on this message board. You could divide that population by liberal, conservative and other and see how the mods respond to the flood of complaints from each subset. Not a conclusive tests (most tests are not) but I do believe it’s an informative one.
No thanks: I value my sanity. And apologies for implying that you needed to dig that stuff up: it wasn’t intended. Also, it isn’t the greatest measure, because the Dio ban discussion thread was cut off prematurely. It’s possible that if it went on for 8 pages or so (and we know it would have if given the chance) that a broader and more valid range of complaints might have arisen. Doesn’t help my case, but what can you do?
FTR, while I disagree with the decision to ban him, I wouldn’t call him a victim. You get your warnings and you take your chances. Also FTR, AFAIK most of the complaints were due to his participation in IMHO and MPSIMS, which I visited less often.
