Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

Picking apart PMs word for word isn’t my strong side.

But I can see why an action - as Mahaloth has claim to be able to use either Day or Night - could have a “once per game” in the PM. To make sure the player don’t think it can’t be used both Night and Day.

While I can see odd things in the posted PM, I can’t help thinking that Mahaloth didn’t have to post the beginning at all. No other claiming have.
So it seems to be providing us with information we’d never ask for, if not provided.

Evil dead had standard roles from horror of the ‘victims’ for Town. Though, Vincent was from another canon, wasn’t he?

I suppose my assumption isn’t accurate.

Vote: Mahaloth

Seriously, folks. I just checked again the first post of the game and he is listed as “Guest” under his name, like a title.

So is special ed, who just voted for me. Am I having display issues?

I have special ed and story both as Guests. I can’t upload screenshots from work, but I can try to take a picture of the monitor with my phone and upload it that way.

I wouldn’t. I did in another game and I think screenshots as proof are (correctly) viewed as not in the spirit of the game.

What an odd thing if some see story as member and others as guest. I have no idea why that would be.

Am I right that story was offline when I viewed my PM, which is why it said “offline”.

Texcat, do you get that?

Story, ed, and Mahaloth all in one shot.

No need; I see the same.

I really really hate meta-game crap like this.

Screenshots of a PM? Bad. Screenshots of a display in the game thread? No problem, I think.

Maha, it’s not that you are seeing “guest” and others are seeing “member”. It’s the fact that EVERYONE sees “guest” but in your quoted role PM it says “member”. It looks as if this was either made up or copied from a time when **story **was a member, like maybe during Evil Dead I

Wow, that is interesting. Story was a member during the first Evil Dead game. So were alot of people, since that game predated the whole ad campagian nonsense.

I assure you that the PM that I posted (quoted at the top of this page) was a direct cut and paste from the PM I got from Story. Those were real powers - though I probably snipped out anything incriminating since I was a human deadite in that game.

It’s like fish in a barrel!

Vote Mahaloth

I know votes carry over from one day to the next, but can votes be placed at night?

From the Rules post (emphasis is from the original):

Oh, absolutely. Except that I prefaced that whole bit with:

The whole point of the exercise is to make an educated guess as to if someone is telling the truth or not. I’m really, really hoping she is, and that this plays out as she claims, but no, I have no idea if she’s full of it or not. Hell, she could be malicious 3rd party with her own win condition that we’re about to play in to. Just taking a chance.

On to more pressing matters:
Vote Mahaloth
And might I just add, I really hope this is a mislynch and that the whole PM bit was an honest mistake. I’d be happy to trade a now-unpowered townie for the knowledge that his “two 3rd-party players” info is correct. If he comes back as non-town, that juicy bit of info gets immediately flushed away – that, in short, would suck.

I’m in no rush to vote. Will re assess this when we see who comes through the night alive.

Oh and whilst I think on. I am going to Moscow on Monday. I believe the hotel I am in has internet access though, so it shouldn’t affect my accessing of this thread, but if I disappear, that’s what happened.

Exactly. Mahaloth is either a newly vanilla’d town or up to no good. His lynch could either be beneficial to town or very beneficial to town.

My original reasoning was that the posted PM was from the first ED game and it was never used. However, that role was never used in the original. The scum were given cover roles, but I dont’ think that was one of them. I’ll have to go back and double check - though I have now idea how.

More telling, however, is that Mahaloth wasn’t in the first ED game - unless he’s changed his name since then. Which would mean that he got the PM from one of his cohorts. If he does come up ass cum, that might lead us to another.

Lemme see if I still have access to the scum board from the first ED game (if it even still exists)

I actually agree. I noticed this about my role and I think it’s worth it.

Kill me, folks. I’m vanilla town and it will confirm me as such.

And, it will teach everyone that the PM’s are odd(and perhaps so it the message board) so we don’t kill anyone else for similar reasons.

I want to play, but I’d rather win.

If anyone can Night Kill me, do it.

If Maha got it from Evil Dead I, he did so early on (but not too early, because his post count when Maha copied his message was 2955, and it’s only 2957 now, with one post in this thread.) Because if I go to Evil Dead I now, I see storyteller as a Guest. On this board, member status and post count always contemporary, not contemporaneous with the original post.

I can’t reproduce anything like Maha’s PM post with my own PM. I can’t get a post count, and I can’t get it to say anything but Guest. I also can’t get it to show his location, although I think I would if Story were a Member.

I get everything Maha’s message had except whether or not the poster is online if I try to copy a PM from a true member. The online/offline bit may have to do with my browser; I use Opera, which is non-standard.

Impossible though it sounds, I’ve got to wonder if Story’s membership expired just after Maha made his post. Because for the life of me, I can’t imagine why Maha’d bother putting that stuff in if he were making up a PM.

I can’t see making a case against Maha based on this. It makes no sense for him to have made it up, and I can’t figure out any way he could have cut and pasted that info nefariously. Scum and Third party boards (if any) would not be on the SDMB; they’d probably be on BladeRunner or another board. In any case, I find it highly unlikely that Story’s profile on that board would be so nearly identical to his profile here - same name, same location, so nearly identical a post count (storyteller has made exactly two posts on the SDMB since Maha posted his purported PM, for a total of 2957, which is what he’s showing now.)

However, I could easily see Maha’s role being a Scum role slightly tweaked. There’s nothing inherently good in the text, and finding out how many Third Parties there are would be useful for Scum. What I can’t really reconcile is why he would then tell us, Town.

So Maha is WIFOM.

The closest I can find is the Role of the Sorority Treasurer:

[ Exalt | Smite ] The Sorority Treasurer (MASON)
« Thread Started on Oct 11, 2008, 9:40pm »
Welcome to the game; you are the Sorority Treasurer

ALIGNMENT: Town
GENERIC: Mason
WIN CONDITION: All Deadites have been vanquished, and there is no chance of an exclusive win for any third-party.

BACKGROUND:

There is a group likes yours in every horror movie. There are three of you, and you always walk down the hallway in a row.

You’re the Smart One, the organizer and third-in-command, the one who carries her blackberry at all times and knows everyone who knows everyone. You are the Treasurer of Xeta Xeta Xeta. The sorority President planned this weeklong party, and the VP set it up, but it was you that collected cash from everyone, cut the checks for the caterer and the kegs, and made sure the e-Vite went out well before the invitations to all the lesser Spring Break Activities.

And the party showed signs of being a smash hit, until the dying and the hideous complexions and the demons.

Those bastards have no idea who they’re dealing with.

POWERS:

  1. Apart from your ongoing responsibility to set a good example to the teeming masses with your sense of style and razor wit, you are also confident that XXXX, your President, and XXXX, your Vice President, are neither heinous Deadites nor working against the interests of the halfway decent people in attendance. Use this information as you will.

  2. You have one bit of interesting information at your disposal that no one else possesses, not even your Xeta Xeta Xeta sisters. Because you maintained the list and collected money from attendees, you know that 28 people are paid in full and are students in the area. Since 30 people are present, that means three of them are crashers. You assume the Deadites will have taken the place of genuine, fully-paid students, so the question of who the two deadbeats might be remains an open one for the time being.

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES:

If both the Sorority President and Vice President die, the ability to break ties will pass automatically to the Sorority Treasurer, assuming the Treasurer is still alive.
