If it was meant to be distancing tactics, I could easily have backed off after the opening exchanges. But I didn’t stop chasing him until I’d drawn attention back onto his comment about the book, in light of NAF’s revelation about having lost it, and everyone started piling onto the bandwagon.

After that, the case was made, and he offered nothing in the way of a defence. Job done.

Sorry, I didn’t mean it to sound like I was responsible for getting peeker lynched. I realise that the much more effective case against him was made by others, especially NSC Diver. But I did call him correctly, and I did try to get him lynched. How on earth that makes me a suspect, I cannot begin to fathom.

I can paint a possible scenario: Peeker goes on and on about you (and only you) as a suspect. No one else is suspecting you at all. You go on and on about Peeker, and no one else is suspecting him at all. Peeker has a brain fart, and says something funky about NAF and the book - not a slip, just a brain fart, no actual event on the Scum Board reflected. You call him out for it (still not much general interest in Peeker as Scum). Then, some time later, people really get to noticing Peeker. You’ve shown an interest in him all along, so you are trapped voting for him and after all, you get credit for early insight into Peeker.

But you were interested in Peeker way before there was any case on him or any reason to have a case on him. If in fact his slip was not a slip at all, but a not atypical Peeker brain fart, then Peeker’s lynch was based really on his own refusal to respond to the accusations.

I’m not saying you are Scum, Mrs McGinty. I’m just saying that you get no credit with me for Peeker’s lynch, and that your earlier interest in him is plausible as a Scum maneuver in collaboration with Peeker himself. Not definite, just plausible.

Yeah. The whole point of bussing is to enable Scum to say “But I’d be crazy to lead a charge on my own team-mate!” so the defence of “I couldn’t be bussing, because I’d be crazy to lead a charge on my own team-mate!” doesn’t really apply.

This is certainly plausible, especially considering that the cases both peeker and McGinty were making were unlikely to gather sufficient momentum to result ina lynch.

Cartainly a tactic that’s been employed by Scumbuddies in previous games.

However, it’s not enough to make a case against McGinty for it. Basicaklly, I see it as a null tell. A Scum McGinty could have done this, but a Town MGinty could also have been making an honest case against peeker.

The long and the short of it is that if any of you attempted to use a one-shot ability last Night (like Oy! passing along an item, for example), you should still have that ability to use.

In post #2199, I described how I’d gone over the entire thread. I mentioned several people whom I felt to not be Scum, a person I found somewhat suspicious (you), and a person I planned to vote for as most suspicious. That wasn’t smudging, at least not to my mind.
