Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

I do have a helpful piece of advice for new players here.

Saying what amounts to:

  1. Everyone thinks I’m an idiot.
  2. I see no point in trying to help because you are all obviously wrong in this instance, and therefore will be wrong in every single instance.
  3. I will no longer be accountable for my actions, any voting I do will be the fault of the other players.

will not get you:

  1. pity
  2. a free pass
  3. out of being held accountable.

From what I see, Suburban has a very weak case. You’ve stated that you wouldn’t do what you did if you were Scum. Oy and I have pointed out that ‘scum wouldn’t do that’ doesn’t work around here because Scum very well might do that just because people might think Scum wouldn’t do that (especially noobs, which you may or may not be depending on which posts we reference.)

This is your new defense?

  1. You’re a victim?
  2. No one has a good reason for making you a victim? (I guess we’re bullies)
  3. Someone you think is possible Scum is voting for you in an attempt to avoid being lynched himself?

What would happen if you were to get 2 votes?!

I shudder to think

damn, I’m being snide again, but at least it’s game related.

“Why does he hates poor Smeagol? What has Smeagol ever done to him?”

No no, this one was good. Posted on the heals of two quality posts a one liner is acceptable.

I’m now going to make good on my offer to shut the hell up. I think everyone will be happier that way.

Well it’s a little late for that isn’t it? You brought up a number of points and they should be explored.

Everyone gets their turn under the spotlight eventually. Now, it would seem, is your time. I would really really like you to point out the instances where you feel you have been unfairly attacked, at least partially because maybe you HAVE been unfairly attacked.

Shutting up doesn’t help anyone.

Aww, Grammy, don’t be upset. I hope you’re not, really. :frowning:

Whoa, whoa, whoa. What happened here? To me, this seems like a gross overreaction on the part of Mrs McGinty. I know the feeling, as I’m a MUCH pissier player as Town than Scum (what was the game where I voted to lynch myself and then lived for Days afterwards?), but I don’t see the defensiveness as wholly necessary. So the current lynch leader thinks you’re Scum. Why care so much? It almost seems contrived. At least when I get pissy, it’s because I’m on the receiving end of an improper bandwagon. There’s no reason for this reaction as far as I can see.

I think it does.

Up to now, I’ve defended myself against every slur, answered every question, and all it’s ever served to do is bring attention onto me, and off the genuine suspects. If people want to vote me based on the same weak crap I’ve been facing since day one, then I say bring it on. Or, if people want to assume that my present frustration shows me to be scum, then the same applies.

I could, and indeed already did, make exactly the same argument.

Here’s the thing. Nobody other than Suburban Plankton was attempting to bring any heat onto you. The only heat coming onto you was self-inflicted based on your gross overreaction to what essentially amounts to an OMGUS vote.

I went back and looked at Mrs McGinty’s posting history. It wasn’t really all that difficult, because there isn’t a lot of substance to it.

His first contribution is the defense of Romanic (Post 530). “Having played umpteen games with the guy, I’d say one of his standout traits when playing as mafia is his attention to detail. To make such a huge error early on would be somewhat out of character.” He also puches Romanic for an early roleclaim, in both Posts 530 and 539.

In Post 678 he places a vote for Hal Briston for “pre-justifications for future scummy behaviour, negligible contribution to town efforts, and repeated attempts at hiding in humour”

Post 701 - he says “To the discussion at hand, the truth of Roman’s claim is practically irrelevant.” If it’s irrelevant, why the push a bit earlier to have him make it?

After this, there’s a bunch of back and forth with peeker, which has already been covered. In amongst all of this, in Post 1042, is her vote on peeker.

Post 1690 - another smudge at Hal for lurking

Post 1699 - attacks me for ‘supporting peeker’

Then there’s some back and forth with me…

Post 1938 - Votes Telcontar with no comment (not that much was needed)

Post 2185 - votes for me, following Normal Phase’s lead

After that, some more back and forth with me, and most recently is his temper tantrum because everybody is suddenly smudging him.

All in all, not a whole lot of actual participation, even though it appears that he’s been very chatty. A surprisingly large number of his posts were made in the back-and-forth arguments between him and peeker, then more recently him and me, and now between him and ‘everyone’. But the only real arguments of an kind I can see are:

“Romanic is ulikley to be Scum, becasue he usually pays more attention when he’s Scum”
“peeker is Scum, because he was suspicious of me and then wouldn’t properly answer my questions”
“Hal is Scum because he’s making ‘fluff posts’”
“Suburban is Scum because he was suspicious of me, and he defended peeker”

He seems to have a fixation on me (at least since peeker’s demise), and I don’t see much effort at all to locate Scum anywhere else. When he voted for me earlier today he said “I’ve still got a few leads to chase up on other players”, but gave no indication of who those other players might be. And now he’s decided to take his ball and go home, so I don’t suppose we’ll find out.

The only reason i actually placed my vote when I did is because Mcginty basically asked me to, not because I thought the case I had was strong. But the more I look at things, the more comfortable I am with it.

NETA: I’m pretty sure I saw upthread that Mrs McGinty is in fact a man. If I’m wrong, please replace every reference to ‘he’, ‘him’, and ‘his’ with ‘she’, ‘her’ and ‘hers’ in the post above, and please accept my apologies.

Seriously. You need to get over yourself. Pointing out that bussing happens isn’t a smudge. Pointing out that there are other possibilities than the one you mentioned isn’t suspicion, beyond the base level suspicion that EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in the game has(barring things like Masons knowing each other etc). There was no huge push to get suspicion on you, at least until you pulled a Telcontar and blew up at the very thought that someone might maybe possibly think you are anything other than Town. (I am btw totally copyrighting pulling a Telcontar.) Before this little exchange/topic/whatever (dare I say debacle? snerk), I would have put you in basically the same boat as most of the players in this game. That is, nothing concrete, just the usual base suspicion that more or less everyone has. But this reaction? It’s so very similar to Tel, and sort of peeker. Ok, it’s like the opposite of peeker, but the concept is the same. They both overreacted to something that wasn’t all that big a deal. You’re doing the same. That said, I’m still not willing to vote for you, since there’s someone else more suspicious.

SP, this idea that Town just kinda wanders along and never thinks about anything, or that Scum micromanage every single post down to the placement of commas is flawed. Peeker for instance shows that. If scum made sure of every single thing they posted, then he never would have made the initial mistake he did. And speaking for myself only, I know that as Town I always know exactly what I’m saying and why. Why wouldn’t you? I expect to be held accountable for the things I say, and one of the keys to being held accountable is being able to explain why you said it. Not only do I expect it, I want it. That accountablity is one of the strongest tools Town has. Why would I want to deny that?

That defense, along with the original case, plus the lack/weakness of the defense to said case, leave me voting you.

While I’m here, one other thing. I think we can move Drain into the 90% confirmed pile. Mass blocks, or in this case basically skipping a Night entirely, is ALWAYS pro-Town. Sure, there are pro-town things that might not have happened, but the block itself is still pro-town. I see no reason to doubt a mass block happened, and I find that Drains story matches with it better than the vague possibility that maybe a spell occurred. I understand that listing her as vanilla in the PM when she really isn’t is weird, but I think that’s a discussion for after the game ends rather than now. 90% of course is not 100%, but that’s mostly because the only way to get to 100% is via death. It would take something extraordinary to get me to vote for her.

A quick note on McGinty: she did take a very small amount of heat earlier from Drain, here and here; still, the morning’s reaction seems pretty far over the top.

Well that was an interesting “night”. I was hoping something would have happened because everyone I have had a strong suspicion of (except for NAF(which I really don’t anymore)) is dead.

I really don’t have the time to start a 45 page re-read to find a new candidate, but I’m just gonna have to start plugging away at it.

If I had to vote right now, it’d be McGinty. I had no really tell on her(him) before the recent blow up, but it looks pretty bad.

Aw hell, I’d hate to be accused of baseless smudging…

Vote Mrs. McGinty

Not only for the recent ,IMHO, unprovoked outburst, but also for the threat to just shut up. If you don’t participate, you don’t help town. And, for now, I just don’t have a better candidate.

I’ll make sure to put it in the wiki after the game and credit you

Just because I find it hilarious!

Moving on…

This is something I was wondering about as well. And I really read it as an “non-denial denial”.
Coming out defending what you didn’t do but in a way that would leave you open to saying “but I might have done it - just didn’t do it based on what you’d think was my motivations”.

Forgot the vote

Vote Suburban Plankton

Yeah, I am.

Between the Ras lynch over at the org, and some bad stuff at CFC, I’m seriously fed up with people playing the man instead of the ball. Here, it started on day one with the Roman thing, and I don’t see it changing until I’m dead. When people are happy to buy the most convoluted crap in the name of branding me scummy, there’s really nothing more I can do.
