Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

He’s not on line here or on Blade Runner. And he hasn’t posted on the SDMB since day before yesterday.

Here, I am here, dammit, I’m here.

Life is complicated right now. I and everyone around me are essentially OK, but - well, complicated is a good word.

So please forgive me for this:

Suburban Plankton, The Crooked Local Politician, who was Town (Vanilla), has been lynched.

I promise spectacular, remarkable color at the end of Night, which will occur at 3:00PM EST tomorrow (Monday) unless everyone desperately needs an extension.

Sorry for the delay, lack of color, and for my confused inattention during the last two weeks or so.

Blah.

And don’t worry about it, storyteller.

Hope things uncomplicate themselves for you soon, story…

When you have the chance, I’d like to be spoilered.
@normal,
I told you so

GO TOWN!

Hoping for things to become less crazy; good to hear it’s not because someone is hurt.

Crapola. Sorry SP. Hope things start simplifying for you, Story.

So I did a read-through on Total Lost - wall of words preserved because what the hell, I have it all noted down:

140, 155, 160 - will more than just Frown on edited posts
158, 252, 255 - odd back&forth with various players on “you are not yet scum” messages
247, 248, 250, 275 - fluff
377 - in favor of snip-claim
384 (to Rysto) I’m not saying that because it worked in T2 we should do it here as well.
388 - At this point I can’t see Town getting any useful from a claim. But I still like the idea of us claiming a bit from our role-PM.
418 - still in favor of snip-claim; scum must match snips with false claims.
447 - I do think they have fake Role-PM. That’s my point. We would force them to pick one fake PM and they would have to stick with it.
It’s the stick with it part I like so much.
450 - Okay, I’ll let it [the snip-claim] go.
But yes - I still very much feel it’s a good idea.
452 - fluff
491 - I don’t believe this is an recruiting game (other than the mechanism already pointed out by the Moderator). That’s based purely on the gut feeling that the Moderator of this game don’t strike me as a game-designer that would find twists like that okay.

Also - 4 scum with 30 players?

I’m not going to vote on that.

1050 -
For the record: I agree with both NAF’s and Ed’s way of handling Oy!-post. I was going to ask the same when I read it.
I can see Drain Bead has a strong feeling otherwise. I’m fine with us disagreeing on such matters. I just wanted to make it clear that I think all things are up for discussion. And that Oy!'s post was a great topic to discuss.

1052 - fluff

1057-8 - votes Chip (half an hour too late) for making a weak case and posting “I can’t see anything scummy” too much

1063 - fluff
1073, 1075 - accuses chip of fishing Oy; distinguishes what she had been doing earlier from fishing
1098 - advising NAF re book: “So I think either you should use it or you should give it up.”
1109 - isn’t it an assumption that Story gave out fake claims
1123 - “After re-reading I can see I might have jumped to the conclusion that a book-power can only be used once. However I don’t think the assumption is that off.
So IMO Town using the powers in the book will prevent Scum from doing so.”
1125 - explains reasons for thinking powers are one-shot
“Because it seems that knowing what a power does would make the power even more useful. So I jumped to the conclusion that once a power was used and “revealed” it wouldn’t work anymore.”
1278 - doesn’t have book; wonders if town power role stole it; explains why NAF might want to be vig’d instead of investigated.
1279 - day review - there are votes for NAF based on the book; agrees with Astral’s case on Omi; doesn’t understand Idle’s vote on Guiri; doesn’t see peeker’s case on mcginty; votes OAOW for misreading Idle.
1308 - defends her vote on OAOW to Ed
1395 - disagrees with Oy’s assessment that she (total) had been distracting attention from the book
1396 - finds it odd that people are assuming there will be a normal mafia cop
1407 - “I’m finding the peeker-situation very confusing.
To me (and I’ve read it over and over again) it looked like peeker just posting without thinking.”
1454 - to lilflower: 2. “Scum will never do that” isn’t getting us anywhere. However “Scum will do anyhing” is just as pointless. To try and look for motivations behind actions is (IMO) the way to move forward. If I see someone accused of being scummy based on an action I try to figure out what Scum would gain from that action.
1489 - I really can’t see why a vanilla Town PM from Peeker could provide Scum with anything.
1494 - fluff
1507 - “And the “slip/mistake” Peeker made would only make sense as a Scum-slip if the 2 or 3 is the case.
So I can’t see why if Peeker flips Scum, NAF is Scum as well.”
1508 - fluff
1525 - argues against Telcontar, that NAF wasn’t really getting that much suspicion for holding the book
1538 - queries Telcontar re: his assertion that vanilla PMs in Evil Dead 1 were identical
1543-44 - if scum didn’t steal book, might have thought Idle had.
1638, 1693 - fluff
1935 - votes Telcontar, doesn’t like ending day early because she often misses several lowercase-days
1960 - queries Mahaloth re: random mafia and what happened there.
1961 - fluff
1962 - thinks scum must have stolen the book
1977, 1989, 2056 - fluff
2057 - PM artifacts CAN sometimes catch scum
2061; 2125 - doesn’t find PM artifacts conclusive, but there was a case on Mahaloth before.
2176 - suggests Drain ask Story if she still has the spell
2238-2239 - sees SP’s discussion of how Town don’t necessarily have defenses thought out as a non-denial denial; votes SP
2240: counsels McGinty not to shut up
2242 - Asks Oy what she thinks about the lurkers/low participants
2245 - explains “non-denial denial”
2269 - doesn’t think NAF’s vote sucks; agrees that she’s playing off-style somehow
2272 - more on non denial denials
2274 - disagrees that Guiri’s being subbed out means Guiri/Tom is Town; scum could have been spoiled too (or PFK)
2290 - suspicious of McGinty for not noticing that Oy had mixed him & lilflower up in an earlier post
2294 - also sees SP’s non-denial denial as an apology in advance for future slips
2301, 2303, 2305 - did not cast a vote yesterday (clarifies that she did in fact vote for Tel - says on Day 2)
2336 - vaguely remembers earlier ping on SP; doesn’t like mislynches but if we have to have them then early and ahead is the best way
2337 - asks Mahaloth if he finds anyone behaving in a non-pro-town manner
2388-90 - replying to Mahaloth noted that she messed up the day count (had earlier claimed to vote Tel on Day 2 - instead did so on Day 3). Still thinks snip-claim would have helped. Clarifies time difference.
2400 - would actually pick a loud person as a fellow-scum.

I’m getting a net Town reading, I think; the snip-claim thing from day 1 reads as a sincere strategy idea to me, and I’m impressed that she was arguing against a NAF lynch for “what’s the scum motivation” reasons on Day 2 at a time when NAF looked pretty lynchable. I haven’t played enough with Total to make much of a judgment as to whether she’s playing within her normal style or not.

Yeah, sorry things are conspiring against you, story. The colour is brilliant, but don’t feel it’s a priority.

And sorry to you too, Plankton.

EXT – THE CORNFIELD NEAR THE CABIN – BEFORE DAWN

*We see a flash of activity: a blade sweeping through the air.

Jump cut to: the grim face of special ed, locked in evidently mortal combat.

Jump cut to: the shadow of an unseen assailant, flashing across the ground in front of him.

Jump cut to: The blade, again; it extends from ed’s arm in place of a hand; it is poised to strike.

A series of additional jump cuts – ed’s face, the blade, incomprehensive movement, unmistakably combat. Then, a blood-curdling shriek.

Dawn begins to creep across the sky. The camera pans across the field. Garden furniture has been destroyed, wreckage is everywhere. Blood pools in multiple locations, some thin and red, some viscous and black. Slowly, the camera pans up the body of special ed. His eyes are wide open, and he stares blankly at the sky.

His face is not human.

Gathered around the clearing is the rest of the group, their expressions disgusted.*

NANOOK
Ed was a Demon.

LILFLOWER
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

BREWHA
Is everyone all right?

NAF1138
Me, I’m too old for this shit.

The camera cuts to NAF1138, slumped against a tree. A giant, gaping chest wound gouts blood all over his neatly pressed pants.

NAF1138 (weakly)
Tell… Riggs… he owes me twenty bucks.

*NAF1138 slumps to one side and at last, dies.

Five days from retirement.*

special ed, the King of Blades, who was Scum (Strongman), has been Night killed.

Along with NAF1138, the Grizzled Cop, who was Town (Vanilla).

Day begins here, and will end on Saturday, 11-6 at 10:00AM EST (please note time change). Night end PMs will be going out presently. Happy voting!

Huh. Did NOT see that coming. Didn’t think that anyone would go after NAF at Night, didn’t have a Scum read on ed at all. But good job and thanks to whoever did!

Damn! Whoever is killing the scum at Night, great job!

So now it’s time for me to claim. I am (or should I say “was”) the Stand-By (PM below). I took over Idle’s role when he died and had one Night to use my power. Last Night, I touched Total Lost.

Here is my original PM:

Here is my PM from story once I asked for Idle’s power:

I wasn’t able to use my power until last Night and here is my response from story toDay:

Wow. Nice shooting, vig or serial killer!

First reaction is that this looks good for Mahaloth; Ed’s pursuit of him over the past couple days does not seem buss-ish to me.

Whoohoo, go town. We are dominating this thing.

Sucks to be dead, but…meh.

Spoil me please.

So anyone want to volunteer to review ed’s interactions?

Well, that’s a good result, really. We lose a vanilla, but get a scum killed along the way. Kudos to whoever made that happen.

Has anyone seen the book?

I am keeping my vote on Total Lost for now, by the way.

He was very much on me, or at least it seemed so to me. While I assume he played his game as “townie” as he could, he was definitely aggressive. I did not notice any particular difference in his style of play, though.

His main beef with me was that I voted Telcontar early, then celebrated it when Tel died and was scum. This, according to him, bothered him since I had also celebrated in Random Mafia(hey, I bragged in that game) about getting scum and then ended up being scum myself.

That’s my main impression of him.

Oh, and having read lili’s post:

Unvote Total Lost

Just one thing for the moment. Ed is an excellent busser. He faked me out rather well in the last game we played together where he was scum (about captain). However, probably not this time. Bussing would be rather insane under the circumstances.

Mahaloth did what he says he did, looks like.

how sad

Well, that’s very good news. Good riddance to bad rubbish indeed. I had wondered why Ed had absolutely no suspicion on him when he was so prolific.

In post 2417, posted Saturday morning, Normal Phase had this exchange with Suburban Plankton:

Now, Normal’s a very savvy player. But what was there about Chipa’s death that kept her laughing for, what, three weeks?

It had to be some kind of coincidence. I mean, the whole thing is pretty coincidental to begin with, if we accept it at face value. Just the fact (assuming Normal is telling the truth) that Chipa died protecting someone who someone else decided to kill is pretty far-fetched for a first night.

The humor has to be because Normal targeted Chipa for something. But what? I think a Watch is unlikely, since you’d think she would have seen who killed Chipa, and she doesn’t say that. But a Track is possible. She could have Tracked Chipa, only to find that he Protected her and died for his pains. That’s enough of a coincidence to be very funny, but in her shoes, I’d feel terrible Survivor’s Guilt. But she’s an experienced player and I am not.

Another possibility is that she Protected Chipa. I don’t know exactly how story would have played that scenario, so it’s pretty iffy. The likelihood is that if Normal had protected Chipa, Chipa wouldn’t have died. But the Martyr role is a strange one; maybe Protection doesn’t work on those who die in a Protective capacity. If so, again, I can see the coincidence being funny to Normal, but in her shoes I’d be annoyed.

The most sinister possibility, and also by far the funniest, is if Normal herself targeted Chipa for the kill as a Third Party or even a second Scum Kill (in that case, MHaye was the other Scum Kill and Normal was targetted by a Third Party). That would be very funny, because her kill would get snatched out from under her by a Protection of herself. Chipa’s still dead, so Mission Accomplished, sort of, but what a tangled web!

So I could have Tracked her last Night, but I wasn’t at all sure what I’d do with the result. If her object died, what would I say? If her object lived, what would I say? I didn’t want to blow her wide open as a Power, although to some extent that ship has sailed - she can’t just be vanilla and have seen Chipa die protecting her - I can’t see any game mechanic for it, and it wouldn’t be funny anyway.

So I decided to ask you good folks, what do you think?
