Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

But things did change for weak Ash, who gained some powers over time. Cookies can relate that better than I can, since she was weak Ash.

However, there was also Evil Ash:
Welcome to the game; you are Evil Ash

ALIGNMENT: Scum
GENERIC: Special [Rank: 2]
WIN CONDITION: Deadites control the voting (ie, there are more Deadites than non-Deadites, or there are an equal number of Deadites and non-Deadites and the Deadites control the tiebreaker).

BACKGROUND:

In the smoke-strangled hell dimension from which you come, you were a general, perhaps the greatest who ever lived. Vast legions of slavering imps upon armor-plated hellbeasts stood constantly ready to march and kill upon your orders. Under your merciless direction, your armies slaughtered all those who opposed the rule of your master the Pit Lord, and enslaved all those who did not resist. Bloodshed, loathing, and unspeakable agony followed you like a loyal hound; it was the best of times.

Until the day when, just before torching the house of some mystical seer, you cast your eye upon a strange, magical pool. Therein you saw a face that turned even your own blood to ice: your own face, but… different. Hideous. You saw your own cragged and scaly skin, covered in splendid sores and pustules, rendered repugnantly smooth and pale. This being had no horns, no talons, and only the two eyes. From the moment you saw this vile perversion of your own magnificence, you were consumed with the mad desire to slaughter it.

You did your research. You found that this… thing… called itself “Ash,” and inhabited another plane of existence, along with billions of like monstrosities. You slayed the necessary foul beasts to obtain a Big Bad Mofo Sword capable of finishing off this Ash should you ever meet it. You performed the necessary rites and rituals, linking your fate to the fate of your new nemesis. But still you despaired: how were you ever to find him?

And then, a miracle: some unknown force has drawn you into another world - into Ash’s world. And you know that the Ash is nearby. A showdown between you is inevitable. You will find the Ash, and you will destroy it - and you’ll join with those who would wipe out the other monstrosities, in the bargain.

But first, some vital info: There are six members of your little army. The others are the your an Assassin with the rather excessive title of The Prince of Blades; a disembodied Moose Head; a Skanky Vampire Demon; and a pathetic, forgotten peon whose name is irrelevant. In an ironic twist, you are led by a human, a twisted sorcerer played by the most Famous Actor in the picture. You are individuals, but you are collectively bound by a dark magic far beyond the ken of even your leader. This magic propels you all toward a common goal, and allows you to be certain of the loyalty of all six of your fellows (translation: consider it mod-confirmed; there is no Scum traitor in this game).

The same dark magic enforces a rigid hierarchy among you, and you personally rank second only to your human commander. The surviving Deadite with the highest rank is responsible for making decisions for the Deadite collective; if the Deadites should ever wrest the influence needed to break ties away from the wretched humans, that power falls to the highest-ranking living Deadite.

All right, enough talk. Let’s get out there and do some damage. Try not to end up dead. Well, deader than you already are, I guess.

POWERS:

 1. You are connected to Ash, and as long as he lives, you cannot be Night killed except by him. Conversely, as long as you live, Ash cannot be Night killed, except by your sword (see below).

 2. You carry the Big Bad Mofo Sword, the most lethal weapon ever forged in the fires of your infernal home. You may use this sword to carry out a kill on behalf of the Scum collective, if you are chosen to do so. Please be sure to read the section entitled “About your Kills” on the Scum Board (http://deaditechat.proboards.com [password: thepit]) for more details. Even Ash will die on the blade of your Big Bad Mofo Sword; use it well.

And, actually, McGinty’s claimed role here looks most like Almost Human’s “Creepy Guy with a Shovel,” whose role I am hunting down right now.

Fair point, but it gives me too much credit. Coming up with something so perfect straight off the top of my head, and writing the claim to fit so nicely with storyteller’s style, is far beyond my skills.

And, while I don’t expect any of this to convince people of my innocence, there’s also the question of why OAOW’s results were so oddly specific in the first place.

Sorry, I’m not following you here. What is it you think I’ve lied about?

The one I meant was the one MHaye fake claimed (I believed him :frowning: ).

You claim to have blocked anyone targeting Idle Night Two but as far as I can tell I wasn’t.

Oh, here it is:
Welcome to the game; you are the Questionable Hillbilly

ALIGNMENT: Town
GENERIC: Special
WIN CONDITION: All Deadites have been vanquished.

BACKGROUND:

Other guys come onscreen to the raging brass of John Williams, or, perhaps, if they’ve got a particularly handsome visage, a nice groovy '70s beat. You get dueling banjos. Other guys are missing their lost love, or their Amulet of Infinite Kickassery. You’re missing most of your teeth. You run a gas station, or maybe a seedy hotel, and you smell of rye and tobacco. When the kids who are the heroes of the story encounter you early in the film, you supply the inappropriate remarks, vaguely threatening countenance, and slobbery leers that drive them into the creepy cabin in the first place.

But you know what else you have? A great big damn shotgun. S-mart’s top of the line - double-barreled Remington; cobalt blue steel; hair trigger. And a conscience. You’re the dummy who creeps into the woods after the kids, hoping to save them from their own recklessness. And, you know, to peek at some of the prettier cheerleaders while they’re showering. Hey, I said you have a conscience, not that you’re dead.

So lock and load, Bobby Jim Bob, and try not to drip tobacco on the floor.

POWERS:

 1. Your shotgun contains a total of two shells. If you are ever attacked by Night, you will fire off one of these shells to defend yourself, frightening off your attacker. If you are forced to defend yourself twice in this way, the second time you will be shooting to kill. If you’re attacked and out of shells… well, maybe they’ll serve Everclear in Paradise.

 2. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can choose to use your shotgun in other ways. You can target another player and stand guard over them with your weapon; if they are attacked, you’ll use your shotgun to fend off their attacker as described above. Note that Power #1 is an automatic power, triggered by an attack; if you’re standing guard over someone and both you and they are attacked, you’ll take care of yourself first, and your charge if you have ammo left.

Firstly, I didn’t protect him. I set up a trap to kill anyone who killed him.

As for my reasons, they were as follows:

*Based on events to that point, he seemed fairly likely to be innocent, and very unlikely to be lynched.

*He seemed like a very experienced and clever player.

Hence, someone who non-teammates (whether mafia or third-party) would prefer to be rid of, and someone who any town vigilante would be unlikely to target.

The reasons were much the same as those for ed, with the added point that Normal Phase and I have played a ton of games together, and I’d feel a particular satisfaction if I avenged her murder.

By that point, I was increasingly convinced of Normal Phase’s innocence, ed had slapped me all over the thread in the wake of my foolish outburst, and my PC had died. Absent the opportunity to properly research and consider my decision, Normal Phase became the default choice (a position made more secure after her role reveal).

I meant that the protect and trap powers made little sense as day powers. By the letter of my role PM, I could use them, but it’s hard to see why I’d ever want to. I never suggested that I couldn’t daykill.

Hmm… That is a little odd.

The exact wording:
1A - To protect yourself or another by firing a warning shot at anyone who approaches your target. This will also prevent your target from being acted on by any other power. Will use one shell, even if no one actually targets your target.
I guess the phrase “prevent your target from being acted on” means I prevented your action from affecting Idle, while the canceled night prevented you from making the action in the first place. Otherwise, I can’t explain it.

Here’s the results PM I got after Idle’s death:
You stood watch over Idle, firing a warning shot to discourage anyone from approaching him, but your efforts were insufficient to save him from whatever caused his death. You have two shells remaining.
(Note: I didn’t get results PMs for the untriggered traps I set on all the other nights)

Hal Johnson is right about brewha Johnon being right!

Rrbba!

You’re saying by that that no one approached me last night (besides you)? If true, does that make the block on TexCat proportionally more likely to be the cause of there being no kill? (Or conversely, brewha lying, I guess.)

I have a few issues with you saying you’re not capable of fudging up a Storyteller-style role PM. From my experience of you, you absolutely are.

With Cookies looking a likely PFK, I’m now wondering if the events of last night might have cooked up between you and OAOW to make you both look good – he accuses you, but you have a nice explanation … and if either of you does go down, the other doesn’t look to be on the same team.

I’m not remotely sure about any of this, mind you, but I don’t want the above possibility to be forgotten, going forward.

I’m having a horrible week from a time-to-participate standpoint; apologies to anyone who’s expected my input.

No, I used a different power on you:

“1B - To set a trap. Choose a target (not yourself), and you can blow anyone who kills your target straight to hell. Won’t help the initial victim, though. Requires two shells - remember, this is a horror movie, so nothing you shoot dies on the first hit - but no shells are expended if the power is not triggered.”

You didn’t die, so it wasn’t triggered.

Thanks, but you over-estimate my skill as a villain. Remember, I haven’t had tons of experience like you have.

A truly fiendish plan. I almost wish it were true.

huh? N2 dead were Omi by Cookies, Astral by Tom Scud, Idle by self, and Rysto by scum. Not sure what Mrs. McG had to do with any of it.

If McGinty is lying then she probably wasn’t protecting Idle but probably trying to kill him. The problem is as you point out that we already got three other kills that Night so McGinty being another isn’t that likely (so I might be wrong about how Story resolved our (claimed) powers interacting).

Ahh. Idle would have been a likely target for scum, since he was going to brand at least one of them. Though by the same token, I suppose he was also a likely target for protection. Do we think that Ed’s extra kill would have a one-time thing, or would it be every night? That’s the only likely way for 2 scum kills isn’t it?

USC Johnson is right about Hal Johnson being right about Brewha Johnson!

Rrbba!!!

Anyone wanna explain what the heck this is all about?

nevermind…

Y’all are a talkative bunch.

We don’t have cookies on this side :frowning:

The Prince of Blades, special ed’s predecessor in Evil Dead 1, had the following abilities:
1. At Night, you may carry out a kill on behalf of the Scum collective, if you are chosen to do so, by utilizing any of your assorted and sundry sharp things. Please be sure to read the section entitled “About your Kills” on the Scum Board (http://deaditechat.proboards.com; password: thepit) for more details.

 2. You have the opportunity to earn as many as two extra kills, by any of the following means (each one will work only once).

2A: You may earn one by being either the first or third vote on a lynched Townie.

2B: You may earn one if at any time you have received more total votes over the course of the game than any other living player.

2C: You may earn one if at any time there are four times as many votes cast in a single Day than there are living players in that Day.

2D: You may earn one if every living Scum player receives at least one vote from a non-Deadite player in the same Day.
The ScumBoard linked to doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

It’s not clear how this would have worked out, as the person who played The Prince of Blades was lynched on Day 1.
