I’m still trying to work out the details of that claim myself (and yes, I agree, things to seem to be a bit contrary there), but I don’t know if I’d read too much into the “indigestion” thing – I just took that as a writing flourish.

OK, there’s something wrong with this, although at this point I don’t know if the wrongness is on the part of OAOW or storyteller.

Item 2 says that cookies had to create a spawn on Night One, and that that player would have indigestion the next Day. But nobody, not even stanislaus, reported indigestion on Day Two, and I can’t see any reason why a player would not have, unless either storyteller forgot to tell them or they somehow magically knew what indigestion meant (that they were now a Host and would have to Die).

Later in Item 2, it says “Should your Spawn’s Host be killed by any means, your Spawn will die, and the world at large will see evidence of its life and death. If this happens, your primary imperative – to reproduce – will again take over. You may choose another target and produce another Spawn on any Night following the death of a Host. Until you do, you may not kill.”

Now I read “If this happens,…[y]ou may choose another target and produce another Spawn on any Night following the Death of a Host” as an example of an exception proving a rule, if anybody remembers the Master’s column on this topic. That is to say, if a sign says “Parking permitted between 9AM and 2PM Mon-Fri,” it means that parking is not permitted any other time. If cookies could produce a Spawn on any Night following the Death of a Host, that should mean that she could not produce one any other time.

Yet the final statement: “Cookies would have won if she and the bearer(s) of her Spawn were a majority of those left alive.” strongly suggests that there could be more than one Spawn active at a given time.

Also, this activation business described in Item 3: “Remaining Spawn will take over theor hosts when reaching maturity, 4 Nights after implantation.” I’m not sure what Day toDay is, but I’m pretty sure that it is is Day 6 or 7. If stanislaus was implanted on Night One, he should have been fully Spawn yestereday, yet he pushed for Cookies’ lynch, plus the color showed the Spawn bursting out of his chest when he died. I don’t think Stanislaus was fully Spawn yesterDay.

What I’m driving at here is that this whole Cookies description is self-contradictory and very confusing. The fact that Stanislaus never reported indigestion is strange, especially when he did complain of indigestion in the color just prior to his death. So I’m wondering, is this description of Cookies’ powers real, or made up by OAOW? If it’s real (but confusing and somewhat inconsistent), then we need to take a serious look at Nanook and Total Lost, one or both of whom is now almost certainly active Spawn, because they seem to be the only ones who didn’t vote for Cookies to be lynched, if TexCat’s tally is to be believed (she herself Final Voted Cookies in post 2843).

Also, according to OAOW’s role claim in post 2612:
There was nothing in Wanderer’s post indicating how Cookies used her powers the Day she died. Again, I don’t know if this is Wanderer’s strangeness or storyteller’s.

The whole thing is rather suspicious.

Can you use your powers only once? I remember Tom Scud asking about this, but I don’t remember your answer. Your PM does not indicate that you can use them only once, but your play seems to indicate it. IIRC, you’ve used all of them now. Does that make you essentially a vanilla now?

I wondered this myself, but the first time i tried to reuse a power I was told that i had to use each one once before getting to reuse any. I now have all 4 available again.

Ok, I’m not buying it. Nowhere in there is there given any mention that Cookies could have had multiple simultaneous spawn, making that “s” in “the bearer(s) of her Spawn” stick out like a flashing, neon sore thumb. That, coupled with unstory-like typos and the fact that I found him very suspicious anyway, make this an easy call for me:

Since we’ve heard for the other actors, I’ll just put out that I protected brewha last Night. For me that confirms him as town as either he blocked scum (but we already have a death scum role blocker) or I protected him from a scum kill (and Meeko is not on the scum team so I doubt they would be killing on of their own).

My reasoning not to protect Normal Phase was that I didn’t see her investigating much useful while she was the most obvious target to protected as confirmed town. brewha’s block however might help stop kills/find possible killers so I thought him more valuable. That also goes for OaOW tracking but I’m was less convinced that he is town.

I think it is more likely he blocked a scum Hal Briston though and the latters case ‘you faked the alien PM’ seems really weak. If OaOW is scum he probably a scum investigator who sold his soul for a scoop he could sell. Fake claiming the powers he did would have been way too risky.

I’m tempted to ask MrsMcMinty to take him out to prove her power but if she is an scum with an actual Day kill that wouldn’t help much. Having her around trapping until closer to lynch or lose might have her actually kill a scum.

Natlaw protected me
McGinty set a trap on Natlaw.

Now, if I understand it correctly, Natlaw’s attacker would have taken a 12 ga blast and perished had Natlaw been attacked.

So, that leaves two options. Either scum tried to kill me and Natlaw prevented it or Hal Briston tried to kill and I prevented it.

That means that I am either town or PFK. I can not envision a scenario in which I am scum after last night’s event. Well, unless Natlaw is lying, of course.

I realize that this seems pretty biased for me to point it out. I welcome anyone to poke holes in this analysis, though.

Stakeout: Allows you to Watch a player of your choice; you will learn who targets them (but not what was done, nor what your target might have done to others).

Zoom Lens: Allows you to follow a player of your choice and learn who, if anyone, your target targets and what type of action was taken (Investigative, Protective, Aggressive, Other).

Police contact: Allows you learn the role name and generic power description of a player of your choice.

Friendly coroner: Allows you to choose any dead player, and you will learn the nature of that player’s power, as well as how (s)he used it on the Night (s)he died.

Nothing in the “Friendly coroner” writeup to suggest he has any power-absorbing abilities.

If Natlaw had been murdered, then his attacker would have perished. Had the attack failed to kill him (say, if Natlaw had defended himself), then the attacker would have been unharmed.

Am I the only one who read that as “My power only lets me know how they used it at Night if they were Nightkilled”? I’m not sure where you all are getting the power-stealing from.

Sorry for not being around, it’s been one of those weeks. Wife is apparently suffering from depression and hates her job. Hopefully things will get better.

I don’t know where you guys are getting the idea that OAOW was saying he could use the power. My interpretation of the comment in question is that he would learn what power, if any, the person used the Night they died, and since Cookies died during the Day, that part was irrelevent.

Interesting though that Texcat and Hal, two people who are very suspicious right now, jumped all over it. Especially Hal, since his total contribution to this game has been a power claim that is on it’s face worthless and something that a scum wouldn’t even need a power to know, and to come in a few times and jump on stupid “slips”. Go back a few Days for a paticularly egregarious example of this. He posts about doing a full reread. Then someone else points something that maybe could have been bad. Hal, after his full reread, decides that THIS is by far the most suspicious thing he’s seen all game. Really? A full reread and the best you can come up with is a potential case of gloating? That wasn’t even gloating? That strikes me as a desperate grab at anything and anyone for a bandwagon. Exactly the sort of thing a scum who’s seen multiple teammates go down would do.

The wording is a little ambiguous, but I too read it as OAOW saying he would learn what the ability had been used for, not that he would take the ability over.

This, on the other hand, has my scum alarm ringing loud. It casually asks us to wave off two huge omissions - by story in the role PM, and by OAOW when he role revealed.

Also, I’d wager the scum have an investigative role that looks a lot like OAOW’s claim. And I’d say that his use of the ability fits quite neatly with that idea, what with the first night Stakeout on NAF (when the latter was likely to be investigated), and the Zoom Lens on me after I revealed my role but not my powers (leaving the scum wondering whether I could protect and, if so, who I deemed worthy of protection).

I read OAOW’s statement quite a few times before I posted. I don’t know why I was blind to the meaning of “tell” me the use of the power, instead of “give” me the use of the power. Sorry if anyone was accidentally caught in the poo slinging.

I agree with Mrs. McG about the reuse of OAOW’s powers. It seems odd that it was omitted from the PM, when other PM’s like Oy’s were very explicit about whether her items were re-usable.
