Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

Ok got my role.

I’m glad that I’m not the only one who’s thinking that picking up the book would be an interesting thing to do. Before I do does anyone have any information, previous game or special knowledge, about the horrible things it will do to me?

Same here, except I don’t think I’m going to risk the book, while I’d have likely already pushed any large red buttons I came across.

In fact, are there any large red buttons in the cabin? 'Cause damn, are they ever fun to push.

Also, confirming my role PM.

Each time the possessor read from it, s/he got additonal powers, but if s/he’d read too far, his/her head would have exploded. Also, destroying it at the end took out the remaining only-mostly-deads. I’m not sure what would have happened if the Book had been destroyed before the end - i.e, whether or not the Deadites would have been able to continue creating only-mostly-deads. At any time, destroying the Book would have destoryed whatever only-mostly-deads currently existed.

Confirming receipt of role PM.

i was in a private plane one time going to see a spurs game in houston. hammered all to hell. there is this button that says do not push when in flight by the window next to me. now why the hell would someone provide libations and that kind of shit to curious george.

so of course i pushed the sumbitch. sucked all sorts of shit out of the cabin. i mean it only opened a couple of inches but shit that was a wild ride. we did a blitzkrieg dive on columbus just to re pressurize.

PM Confirmed.

Not sure what to make of the book. Judging from the colour I’d expect it to be more helpful to scum than town but that’s always a dangerous way to reason.

Confirming!

Is this from the previous Evil Dead Game?

Yup, as a previous owner of said book, reading it did what Oy! said. At least in the previous game, it did.

I’d be rather surprised if it worked exactly the same way here. And, since the Necronomicon does tend to be more evil than good, I’ll be laying off o fit for now.

NETA:

o fit = of it

just to clear that up!

What I remember from Evil Dead the one with the book could (might not be entirely correct) at Night:
-read the book to discover a new power
-reading it four times was bad
-reading a fifth time got you killed
-use one of the discovered power (not sure what but I believe investigation, stop the lynch were among them - the more powerful the more you read)
-when you died your killer/last voter got the book (perhaps here we get to PM for it again?)

And note for those how didn’t follow Evil Dead: the Dusk/Dawn post would contain clues about the Night actions (explicit like an investigator reporting result as a knocks, and implicit as the girl sleeping with a someone losing her virginity (doctor protected a masons but lost her power after that)).

So when is 3 PM EST? I imagine it’s gonna be quite a rush for the book ;).

On preview: ah, yeah, the half-deadites could be sacraficed by the scum with the book to stop the lynch.

Interesting you’d say that. Trying to “scare” off town from going for the book?

Well, let’s get this thing going.

I put in a request to get the book. I am curious as to what it will do and fear not for my life.

Yes. Here is the description.

Confirming receipt of Role PM. Thanking Scum for leaving me alone.

Man, I want to read the book. BIG SHINY BOOK. How bad could it possibly be?

Confirming PM.

I am extremely tempted to pick up the Book, but I think I’ll refrain for the moment.

Just to let everyone know, I will be out of town from Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon/evening. I won’t have access to a computer, but I may be able to access the board from my Blackberry. Going to the coast for a few days and I don’t know what kind of cell reception we’ll have. So it looks like I may miss the end of Day 1.

With that in mind, I’ll try to refrain from being* too much* of a pest right out of the box like I have in the last 2 games…but come Day 2, look out

Damn you, I was waiting for the start of the Day to send in my request.

I’m not registered for that board, sorry.
The following outlines the powers that may be used by the owner of the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, according to the number of times the book has been read by its owner.

READ ONCE:
Thing Forgotten: Using this ability, the owner of the book may place it into an extradimensional pocket. While it is in this pocket, it cannot be used or read. However, if the owner of the book is Night killed while the book is hidden in this way, the book will automatically pass to the player chosen by the owner to receive it, and not to the owner’s killer.

READ TWICE:
Seance: This active power may only be used at Night. The owner of the book may ask three questions of any dead human player. The dead player will answer via knocking sounds, up to three. It is incumbent on the questioner to direct the dead player with regard to what will be signified by a given number of knocks. Knocks will be heard by everyone, in the Dawn post following the use of the Seance, and will be heard even if the owner of the book is killed.

READ THREE TIMES:
Final Passage: The power, which may only be used by Day, eliminates one half-dead Deadite of the user’s choosing (elimination will occur at Dusk).

READ FOUR TIMES:
Safe Haven: The owner of the book may go into the extradimensional pocket with the book. There, both owner and book are completely safe while the owner reads. The book’s owner may not use any other power

READ FIVE TIMES:
The Curse of the Dead: This power may be used at Night or during the Day, but takes effect at the end of the selected period. It places a curse on the selected target, which lasts for one Day/Night cycle; if that target is Night killed, (s)he will take his or her killer with them when (s)he dies. If that target is lynched, (s)he will take with him/her the person in closest proximity (ie, the last player to place a valid vote on the lynchee). Because the owner of the Necronomicon must concentrate to maintain the spell, (s)he must forego reading the book or using any of its powers during the active period of the spell.

READ SIX TIMES:
Master of the Dead: With this power, the owner may restore to life one player as a zombie. The player in question may return to the game and participate, but will neither count toward the win condition nor have the ability to vote (for game purposes, a zombie will not count as 1/5 Deadite for the purposes of calculating the win condition). However, his/her powers, if any, will be controlled by the owner of the Necronomicon. The Inquisitive Fool may even use this power to gain control over the powers of the Deadites, or Freddy/Predator. However, the effect lasts for only one Day/Night cycle, after which the zombie’s connection to the living world fades and it disintegrates.

READ SEVEN TIMES:
Dark Whisper / Obliteration: This power will differ depending on whether the book’s reader is a Deadite or a Townie. A Townie will be told that the power allows him/her to communicate with any deceased player; that deceased player will whisper the name of the person who killed him/her into the ear of the book’s owner. A Scum reader will be told that the power is an extra kill. However, any player attempting to use the level seven power will fail, because, you know, sucked into hell.

READ EIGHT TIMES: Go straight to dead. Do not pass go; do not collect $200, or any amount. The reader is sucked directly into Hell.
Note to all eager beavers: as indicated in the color, no one may pick up the book until Day One. The first (chronological) request received after Day start will be the one that counts.

Book book shiny book.

So how many of us are going to be sitting here with our fingers on the proverbial red button 58 minutes from now?

Thanks, Oy!
