Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

This is why it’s vitally important that I’m never granted a position of any authority on this board. I’d soooo pull the plug on the board for a little while one minute before the the launch of the Day.

Well how long are you going to make us wait to start Day 1. Sheesh.

AIUI, flesh = muscle. Skin is not muscle.

Relevantly, parchment is made of sheepskin (or other bovine skin). It is not made of mutton chop or (roast) leg of lamb.

I am not certain of the difference between “skin” and “hide,” though.

NETA:

I think it is extremely cruel of the mod to post tantalizing bits of fluff that we can’t do anything about.

DNETA: To the mod, I do actually know when the Day is set to start, in case that was not made clear by the smilie.

You’re worried about the mod’s cruelty in a horror-themed game?

Not worried, just pointing it out.:stuck_out_tongue:

So, who feels that a mass claim is a good idea?

(Sorry to spam the thread like this but I only have about 15 minutes in which to post for the next several hours so I want to get it all out of the way right now. Also, the 60 second buffer blows.)

pub league poker for me tonight, so will be away for Day start. Cya tomorrow people…

Straight-up mass claim, NAF, or are you proposing some sort of limitation?

Having not read the original Evil Dead game (I almost said ED, then started thinking of Bob Dole), I’m not sure if Scum was provided with fake claims. Were they?

I don’t know. I frankly don’t have an opinion yet in this game, but I like the topic as an early Day 1 discussion point. I usually find it enlightening.

Has a mass claim ever been a good idea? I haven’t seen a game where the idea wasn’t sneered at by the spoiled onlookers. Granted, I haven’t seen many games.

Here’s an interesting idea. How about posting a couple of sentences from our role PMs? If story hasn’t provided fake PMs for the Scum, it might be tough for them to fake his voice. If he has, then if we pick a couple of sentences that don’t give away who we are, it won’t provide the Scum any additional info.

I’m not necessarily proposing we do this, but it might be an interesting experiment.

I know it’s worked at least once on this board. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the game, it might have been Screamers, but basically on Day 3 a mas claim shrunk the game into a power and vanilla pool and it was pretty easy there to test the power roles and systematically kill the vanillas.

Confirmed my PM, ready to go.

Getting a publicly displayed generic town PM has already put this game on a different footing than the Mahaloth games, I think. Even if no one likes Iceman.

Yes, in fact there have been several games that were either broken or just plain won on the strength of a mass claim or variation on a mass claim. It’s not always a good idea, but sometimes it is and there is precedent.

Early in the game a mass claim of roles is only a good idea if the moderator screwed up. Story would never let his game be broken by a simple Day One mass claim.

Towards the end of the game a mass claim can be valuable, but in general I’m opposed to early claims absent a reason to believe that it will be beneficial.

NETA: re drain’s idea, I don’t know that it will get us anywhere in this game since Story posted a generic PM already, but it’s worth a shot. That is to say, that while I don’t know that it will help I don’t think it could hurt, and if we have another T/F cop it might help if we do it right.

Don’t know about that game, but in another game of his in which I was a member of the scum team, we had one complete and one partial role claim provided to us, along with a few other tidbits (such as some safe names to claim). We could have handled an early mass claim in a pinch, though it would have been a PITA. It certainly would have changed the game entirely, which is the main reason I dislike such things. Give me at least a couple of days to hunt scum the honest way before I have to enter the drudgery of dissecting the grammar of role claims and the like.
