Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

Classic mafia argument tactics. Choose the points you feel most able to answer, and ignore the rest. :stuck_out_tongue:

As I alluded to in my response to Cookies, in my experience the best way to catch scum is to observe their patterns of behaviour. Oftentimes, they will give themselves away by repeatedly making comments which, taken individually, may seem perfectly innocent, but when taken together show up a desire to excuse or disguise behaviour that might otherwise seem scummy.

To the discussion at hand, the truth of Roman’s claim is practically irrelevant. If he doesn’t flee, then he gets lynched, regardless. The salient question concerns what he ought to do if, in fact, his claim is genuine.

Yeah, sorry about that, I was typing fast because I had to get to work and left out Mrs McGinty. Glad people were able to figure it out (mostly) without me.

NETA: And yes, “waffling” is a one-word summary of the same issues you were having with Oredigger’s post. Indecision and saying-one-thing-doing-another is a Scum-tell, but I think it’s more true if the target is Town, because Scum knows that their target is Town so it’s harder to come up with a definitive case. Basically, if Romanic is Town, Oredigger looks bad, if he’s Scum, Mrs McGinty does. Does that make sense?

Makes sense to me, and I sort of agree with your reasoning for Oredigger. I agree less about Mrs McGinty and feel that Normal Phase fits that mold a bit better if **Romanic **is scum.

I respectfully disagree on both our parts, but since I’ve already made my own case will make Mrs McGinty’s instead this time: if Romanic is mafia, what does Mrs McGinty have to gain from doing anything other than saying “wow, looks like a bad slip, vote Romanic”, especially at the time he came into the debate? WIFOM? Surely that can’t be more than a null tell, at worst?

NETA: I do agree about Oredigger, though at this point I’m not expecting Romanic to be town.

Yeah I guess it’s time for me to depart, like many of you have said. Good luck.

I leave this cabin and hit the road.

If Roman is scum, you’d have to assume I was behaving in a remarkably stupid manner if I too was his scum buddy.

Assuming I’m not quite that foolish, my actions would seem more suspicious if he turns out to be innocent, since I could then be accused of PIS.

I think this might be another cultural difference. While I don’t really agree that you look bad if he is scum, you have no concept of the type of double switchback reverse psychology that regularly gets employed by players in these games. Acting overtly scummy has provided scum with *great *cover in the past.

Again, I am not buying the case on you, I was just able to follow DB’s logical train of thought.

Can we get a vote count?

[Assuming this works and he’s town]

It’s a pity we couldn’t have known you longer. Given what you said, I think we had to treat it as a PIS. I’m sorry that we were wrong, it would have been nice to hit scum on Day 1.

So I originally had a weak case against wanderers, and now oredigger is pinging me hard. I’ll need to reread to determine where to move my vote. Sadly I can’t do that until later tonight.

In additon, would you mind maintaining a link to a current player list and maybe each day start and end somewhere? I know its a bit of a pain, but it would be greatly appreciated

In this situation this is a perfectly valid question. There is no reason for anyone to be voting Romanic who also believed him to be town.

INT - THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

The attendees are gathered in the kitchen. Some have already picked up violent instruments of persuasion - butcher knives, barbeque forks, rakes, very large spoons, etc. At first, there is crosstalk, but eventually it becomes clear that the talk has settled on the person of Romanic.

PERSON WITH BUTCHER KNIFE
He knows the number of the demons! We must feed him to the Great Machine as a first sacrifice!

PERSON WITH BARBEQUE FORK
Verily, but first we will pierce his heart, to ensure that he cannot harm us while we bring him unto the Machine.

PERSON WITH RAKE
And… ah… cover his body with leaves, so that… uh… he will be covered with leaves!

PERSON WITH SPOON
Guys?

PERSON WITH BUTCHER KNIFE
Let us seize him now!

PERSON WITH BARBEQUE FORK
And strike!

PERSON WITH SPOON
Guys?

PERSON WITH RAKE
Why are we talking like we’re from the fourteen century?

PERSON WITH SPOON
So, has anyone seen Romanic?

They look to Romanic’s chair. He is gone. From outside, we hear the sound of an engine - not a wood chipper, but something much more powerful - roaring to life. The PERSONS look at one another, the bolt for the door.

CUT TO - CABIN EXTERIOR - LATE AFTERNOON

From the perspective of the guests, we see a long road leading away from the Cabin. Barreling away, down the road, is a giant 18-wheeler. The camera cuts to a view of the passenger-side mirror; we see a reflection of Romanic, head reclined against the seat, arm cocked out the window, his only thoughts of the road ahead. As the truck fades into the distance, we can make out the license plate: “ASS CUM.”

PERSON WITH RAKE
Hey, there’s a road leading away from here? So we can just call for someone to come and -

Four or five GIANT TREES fall into the road, blocking passage.

PERSON WITH RAKE
Never mind.

They return to the cabin. Taped to the door is a brief note. They read it as we hear Romanic’s voice.

ROMANIC
Dear friends: I am very sorry I couldn’t stay to enjoy your promised hospitality. Alas, the siren song of the road overcame me, and also, I prefer my spleen unmutilated. Good luck; I do hope you’ll find those Deadite things eventually, and if any of you ever pass through Palm Beach at any point, please feel free to look me up.

CUT TO - The Woodchipper. It looks pensive.

Romanic, the HITCHHIKER, who was pro-Town (Special), has left the game of his own volition. He will win or lose with the Town.

All votes previously cast by or for Romanic are cancelled. I will post a vote count presently. Any player who targeted Romanic with a Day action (if any) must resubmit their action or it will target no one.

Day One continues. Because Romanic has left with ample time remaining in the Day, the Day will not be extended, and will end as planned at around 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, October 9.

I wouldn’t mind at all. I just don’t know of a convenient way to do it. Suggestions are welcome.

Welp, here we go…

vote Oredigger

Sorry, Romanic. Not much the rest of us could have done, though. Hope you’ll be back for more.

Well, that’s that

Vote: Oredigger

No, I understand that.

But I wasn’t acting overtly scummy (or, at least not consciously); I was allowing a connection to be made between myself and Roman in the event that he turned out to be a villain, despite there being no chance of his surviving the day.

Given that very few of you know me, I’d have to assume that some people would find my actions under those circumstances to be highly suspicious. Thus, I would make myself much more likely to get lynched, having achieved nothing for my hypothetical mafia team in the doing so.

The alternative, that I as mafia might defend Roman knowing full well that he was innocent, requires no such assumption of idiocy. In fact, it’s not something I could ever see myself doing. But you guys have no way of knowing that.

Last time I hosted here I think I put the links in my sig space that way people could see them just by clicking on my profile.

Well, I’m about half way through reviewing the first 11 voters on Romanic with nothing yet.

Since I figure I’m about to pick up a bunch of votes and it can’t hurt to try and save the town from adding to our 1/2 mislynch for the Day any one want to consider not voting for a lynch toDay?
