Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

I’m surprised that this page is slipping past my school’s web filters

The current page of the idlemafia game ha gone banned on me

Yet more ‘low fat’ behaviour from Hal.

I must ask again: is it usual for him to stay away from all subjects of controversy, popping up only to offer the occasional one-liner, to make some comment on general tactics, or to kick a guy who’s already on his way to the gallows?

Pretty much.

I’m generally only in-game during my workday (although not exclusively). I work for a bit, then get some reading done – lather, rinse, repeat. If a post twigs at me, I throw into Notepad. If it’s later addressed, I’m probably not going to bother bringing it up again. If I have a quick mention of something I find relevant, I’ll offer it up.

As we get a couple of days into the game and I get more of a feel for who I deem suspicious, I get into a lot more detailed postings*. But for now, yeah, you’ve pretty much got me pegged (although I still have no idea where my vote is going to go for today).

By the by, this weekend is, woohoo, Knoebels’ Phall Phun Phest – we’ll be hitting the road tomorrow morning and not returning until late Sunday. I’ll have web access at the hotel, but won’t have much time to be using it. I’ll get a vote in before we leave, but that’ll probably be about it until next week.
*Although I’m often dead by then.

I’ll have you know that as a teen, we didn’t have a pool nearby, but we have a large number of bridges that go over the deep-water boating lanes. I wouldn’t have just asked you to jump, I’d have said “Follow me, this rocks! Wooooooo!!” <Ker-SPLASH!>

@Hal

If you are scum, I have to congratulate you on the calm and reassuring nature of that post.

If you wanted to see me demonstrate the opposite of calm and reassuring, you should have seen me when I went to check my backup e-mail account (the one where SDMB-related stuff goes) a little while ago.

Holy crap, it doesn’t take long for a e-mail subscription to this thread to get to browser-crashing levels. So much for that idea…

/snipping ensues

I think I prefer this suggestion.
As the book is not related to a single player or power, I don’t see why the moderator would respond to PMs from NAF but not to questions posted here.
I see no harm trying to get answers about the book directly from the moderator:

Story, once the book is taken from its pedestal, does it stay in the possession of the player who took it or does it return to the pedestal once it’s been read?

**If a power role takes the book during the Day, can they still perform Night actions during the same cycle?

If a power role takes the book at Night must they forgo their Night actions for that same Night only or all successive Nights they are in possession of the book?**

If a player takes possession of the book at Night, do they have to wait until the following Dusk before they can read it/use it?

Can the player choose to pass it to another player directly or must it be returned to the pedestal first (and then requested via PM)?

If the player who is in possession of the book is killed, does the book pass to the killer or return to the pedestal?

A person who takes the book will receive answers about its function at the conclusion of the Day or Night on which they obtain it. Everyone else can refer to the initial post.

Vote count coming soon.

Does that mean I shouldn’t expect an answer to my pm?

VOTE COUNT

Oredigger77 - 7 votes - Drain Bead (716), special ed (717), lilflower (732), Idle Thoughts (733), Normal Phase (766), Texcat (798), NAF1138 (845)

Chipacabra - 2 votes - USCDiver (812), One and Only Wanderers (814)

Mrs. McGinty - 1 vote - peekercpa (755)

NAF1138 - 1 vote - Oy! (758)

One and Only Wanderers - 1 vote - Telcontar (803)

No, you original vote was a non vote - a weak vote would have at least some reason why I would be scum while yours was just randomly picked from some people who hadn’t posted in a while. You stirred up nothing and when I barely posted anything after even you forgot about it.

Only read up just now but it’ll do for now:
Vote Chipacabra

About the Book: I’ll actually favor NAF keeping it (or picking it up again) for Tonight. I doubt a quick read will give much of a power and my bet is that scum would have more important things to do.
Then someone else could take the Book for a cycle and check what NAF tells us about it.
Leaving it untouched might be wise but it’s just not gonna happen. The danger to cycling it around might be if it was some bomb mechanic (powers that effect those who’ve read it). If it is picked up by someone else I prefer it to happen during the Day since then everyone can see it not just ‘interested’ observers.

My in-laws are passing through town on their annual migration. I won’t be able to keep up with the thread for the next couple days. I apologize for this lack.

Less than 50% of players are voting?

That’s not good this late in the Day.

Well, here is something unusual. I actually do like the cases for both Chipacabra and Oredigger.

I’ll call it right now and say that at least one of them is scum.

Oredigger seems more suspicious for the reasons previously given, but part of me thinks that scum frequently look fairer and feel fouler.

Having said this, Chipacabra does not look good either.

Hmmmm…

Vote Oredigger

Don’t just leave a vote on if you are not confident in it.

I still have a hairy eyeball on Wanderers, but my vote is going to

Oredigger

lilflower already jumped on it, but I’ll just reiterate this post:

If he is Scum and saw that the early voters for Romanic were all Town, this post would have accomplished smears on a bunch of Townies while lynching another one. It could cut both ways if there were actually scum in the early voters, as he could try to cash in Townie cred if an early-voting scummy turns up dead. I also just fail to see why jumping early on a slip is more likely to be a scum behavior at all. If the slip is juicy and controversial enough and generates a couple of initial votes, the scum can waltz in and join the bandwagon at their leisure.

hehe, I could see story having the Book be a mad bomber. If half of the players still alive have read the book. The Book wins and everyone else loses…

or wait. Do you know something Natlaw?

ohhhh…so you’d like to create a chain already.

You know, one of these guys is sScum, so if we miss on the first one, we get the second one.

I’ve used to think this was Scummy. Then I saw it work once (I’ll try to remember where) However, you don’t really have any link between the 2 of them. It’s not as if the cases are even mildly related. (Like Oredigger accused Chip or there was a counterclaim or investigation). Nothing. You just seem to be trying to set up he next lynch. And it feels icky to me.

Maha isn’t the first to suggest I was trying to distract from the Oredigger bandwagon. FWIW, any timing involved was purely coincidental, having more to do with when I woke up and got around to posting than anything else.

Vote Oredigger

 • the scum jumping early on a “town slip” comment
 • the reluctance to join the bandwagon with lots of scum but joining anyway
 • the “sticky” vote comment
 • leaving the vote on Romanic despite believing the claim
 • leaving the vote until he got time to look for another case
 • encouraging Romanic to use his power and leave despite believing he was Town
 • suggesting a no lynch when he came under pressure

I did this with you and Astral in LOTR…

No one was talking about my vote on you, the discussion was my original vote on Rysto. My vote on you was a bog-standard move that didn’t pay off so I ignored it.

Look, guys, I realize that no one payed any attention to Harry Potter, but the kind of crap I’m doing now WORKED there. We caught a scum when he overreacted to my early random voting.

For the millionth time: My votes are not the point. I was looking to see how people react to them. I thought I got such a reaction from Rysto, but enough people are telling me I’m wrong that I’ll accept it for now, but with misgivings.
