Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

I still think we need two more…

So I would be Town, right?

[quote=“Normal_Phase, post:67, topic:555493”]

Hey!

Renata is incredibly better than “Normal phase” if you ask me

I can’t believe you picked that name! If you were trying to pass as someone else, too late, Renata Normal Phase told me everything about you!

P.S: yeah okay, strikethrough doesn’t work here?

If you still have room, I’ll play!

Use [ del]text[/del]. [del]Like this.[/del]

If you’re still one person short, I’m interested. I don’t think I’m going to last too terribly much longer in the Halloween game over on Idle’s board

One thing though…I don’t know when you’re planning to start the game, and I’ll be out of town next Thursday through Saturday. If that works for you, and you still have a place, count me in. If not, you can keep me in mind as an alternate.

I’d recommend making the non-spoiled thread free to read for everyone. It’s not fair that replacements are pulled from the thread, yet active players are killed for reading it.

It is difficult to be a sub, and the peanut gallery can be very wrong. It seems like a reasonably even trade to let subs have access to the crap-shoot of unspoiled public opinion in exchange for their service of helping the game to continue as balanced as possible in the unexpected circumstances of a player needing to leave.

The player list is complete. It is as follows:

All registered players, please turn on private messages here at the Dope if you have not already done so. Night Zero will begin within 15 minutes of this post. It will be an unusual Night Zero, so I encourage all players to read the post that follows very carefully in order to understand how the game will begin.

Back in a few minutes.

Here, then, is how it begins (with color excised for clarity purposes).

Please read very carefully.

In a few minutes, each of you will receive a PM. The vast majority will receive the following PM:

The players who are Scum will receive messages to that effect. They will then be given a chance to meet and to select one player from the pool of players who received “not yet Scum” messages to complete their team. Once they have chosen, the actual roles will be randomized and distributed, and Day One will begin. No other powers or abilities will be available during Night Zero.

Meanwhile, it is now Night Zero. The rules will be posted presently. Feel free to discuss this wrinkle, the rules, or anything else; there are no post restrictions of any kind in this game, and anything may be discussed by Day or by Night.

The Rules

  1. The Day/Night Cycle
Each game Day will last for five real-life days, and each game Night will last for two real-life days. These numbers may be slightly adjusted for moderator convenience.

The Day/Night Cycle thus lasts seven real-life days in total; in some cases, the Moderator may choose to shorten either part of the cycle if there is a compelling reason. However, all players will be given the opportunity to object privately to such a decision if it ever occurs; no cycle will be shortened if any player objects.

  1. Posting
There are no post restrictions. As long as you are alive, you may post whatever you like, wherever you like, whenever you like (subject, of course, to the rules and guidlines of the Straight Dope Message Board). You may quote your role PM, and any PM sent to you by the moderators. You may discuss strategy by Day or by Night. If you have access to outside boards, you may post to them on any subject at any time. If someone claims a post restriction of any kind, they are lying; lynch them.

PLEASE NOTE: You are also permitted to edit your posts. Other players may frown upon a choice to do so, but the Moderator will not intervene in any case of post editing.

  1. Off-Board Communication
Is permitted via officially sanctioned methods only. For the record, no game-related private messaging among active players is permitted.

  2. Voting
You may vote to lynch another player by using the now familiar vote storyteller construction. You may do this at any time, Day or Night. Whoever has the most votes at the time a game Day ends will be lynched; there is a method of resolution for all ties, but it will not be shared at this time.

The following is unusual, and important: once you vote for someone, you vote stays active forever until one of three things happens:

(1) you remove it, using the unvote storyteller construction;
(2) you die; or
(3) the person for whom you are voting dies.

The vote count is not automatically cleared at the end of each lynch; if sachertorte has six votes and storyteller has five votes at the end of Day One, then sachertorte will die, and storyteller will begin Night One with five votes.

  1. Participation
There will be no hard and fast rules regarding participation, except this one: please participate. The moderators will determine the adequacy of each player’s participation in a context-sensitive fashion, and will issue warnings, prompts, and removals as necessary. All discussion about a player’s participation level will take place in private; the moderators will not discuss participation, prods, or potential modkills in the game thread under any circumstances.

Broadly speaking, all moderator action, notably modkill, is subject to the discretion of the moderators. NOTE: There will be no voting requirement whatsoever. As long as you’re posting, you don’t have to vote at all, ever, as far as the moderators are concerned.

  1. Power Role Actions
Power Role actions may be submitted at any time at all, even in advance, but must be clearly labeled with the Day/Night for which they are intended. If you are a Doctor, for example, you may send a PM on Day One saying “Self-protect Night One, Night Two, and Night Three, then protect CatinaSuit Night Four.” These orders will remain in force unless you change them. I’ll emphasize this for clarity: because of this rule, any actions submitted without a specific Day/Night designation will not be executed.

The lynch and Day actions (if any) always resolve at at the beginning of the subsequent Night; Night actions always resolve at the beginning of the subsequent Day.

Dear lilflower: Please turn on your PMs.

Cool. Can’t wait.

Don’t know if anyone cares, but I got a PM as described by storyin post #110.

Why would you say that Oy!? Did you think Story was lying?

No, it’s just standard in the games I’ve read to confirm when you get a PM, so I thought I would in case anyone cared.

Yeah, I also confirm receipt of pm matching story’s #110 post.

I must say, that is a neat little twist. I like it, well done.

Confirm receipt of initial PM.

Am I correct in assuming this is the Night Zero thread?

So votes accumulate and carry over? That’ll be interesting. : p

Confirming, also.
