Oy!: You’re talking to a group of players for whom the difference between “a” and “the” in the same sentence has lead to Days of debate and soul-searching.
I bet most of you know this, but if someone is paranoid about post editing, they can receive a copy of original posts, by email, when subscribing to the thread. This way, no matter how a post is edited, you will always have the original to refer to.
Romanic, at least twice we’ve had games where scum have posted something to the main thread that they intended to post to the scum thread. That’s the kind of thing that the no-edit rule is intended to address.
Hah, so that’s what you discuss during 5-day phases! (I’m used to 48-hour phases)
Yeah, I’ve seen similar mistakes. It’s sad really to win/lose the game on a mistake like this, when the fun part is trying to figure out who is mafia based on thread behavior and game actions. I have no problem with someone editing/removing his post if he makes a blunder like this.
That raises an interesting question.
I wonder how many people (in the history of the GB, Idle, SDMB, MP, FB games) have accidentally (as scum) posted in the game thread, giving themselves away and who they are?
Cookies did in Firefly and Santo did in Cult of Sekham…any others I’m forgetting?
Presumably the edit was for grammar but it could be for a slip. I agree that both town and scum have reasons to edit which is why I said earlier that I don’t think I would vote for someone simply for editing. To me, it’s just one more thing to worry about in this game.
Drain Bead, in all the games you and I played in together (about 4 or 5), there’s only been one that you weren’t scum in (Pleo’s first Conspiracy game). I also remember being suspicious of you (and showing it) in all of those games except Conspiracy I.
