That post amuses the hell out of me. I HAVE BEEN THERE, Drain Bead, even if not so much right at the moment. Scum overdose, REPRESENT!
Oh yeah, confirmed, and I’m not yet scum.

Is Night Zero a full 48hr Night to put us on Mon-Fri/Sat-Sun Schedule or are we just waiting for the Scum to choose their buddy?
Little bit from Column A, little bit from Column B. We will not start until the Scum have chosen, but we also will not start until Monday or thereabouts… I have a show tomorrow (Sunday) and will be incommunicado for most of the day and early evening, so I’ll probably start the new Day on Monday morning (assuming all necessary events have occurred).
So you plan to have Days run Mon-Fri and Nights run Sat-Sun?
Confirming.
I’ll say up front, I’ll vote for anybody who edits their posts. That’s an almost-perfect certainty. I was scum in the last game, and I accidentally implied that I knew, for a fact, that Sauron was the godfather. I caught my mistake seconds after posting, but hoped nobody else would notice. This is the kind of mistake scum makes, and it’s exactly the kind of thing editing will hide.
On top of that, a gambit I hoped to use but didn’t end up following through on was “pretending” to cross-post to the straight dope something I had intended for the scum board. I’d then edit it at the very end of the 5-minute time-frame, but give folks enough time to see it. I planned on incriminating Drain (who was going to die that night anyway) and a vanilla townie in the post.
So, fair warning. I will always assume the worst about your post if I notice it’s been edited.
<snipped>
Ha! and then you gave me hell for calling you out on your little PIS!
What, did you expect me to admit it?
Same here. If “NETA” is good enough for almost everyone in almost every game, I don’t see why it can’t work here as well.
I can understand a Moderator saying “Go ahead and edit your posts if you want to” though; that makes the job just that much easier for the Mods and makes us police ourselves (which we’re going to do anyway).

fuck gd no preview.
vote story
yeeps and peeps.
woot the fucking woot.
trying not to offend oy
oops
Oh sure…but you wouldn’t back me up and vote for the Mod in the *other *game…
A no-edit policy is helping the mafia because they’re trying to find good reasons to vote, and this policy is providing an easy way out if a townie mistakenly, or not, edit one of his post.
I think if someone edit his post, he should be questioned, not immediately voted for. As I said, if you are paranoid about edited posts, you can subscribe to the thread by email (and always receive a copy of the original post). We don’t need to go berserk every time a post is edited when a countermeasure exists.
To me claiming a no-edit policy like this is suspicious because it provides YOU with an easy reason to vote for someone, and if it happens only twice in the game, that’s 2 times where you can vote without being questioned, and I don’t like it.
So what does NETA mean anyway? No Edit T… A… ?
Not Edited To Add
Not Edited To Add
It stands for Not Edited To Announce.
A no-edit policy does not help scum. If a townie has made a mistake, they can clarify in future posts. They do not have additional information to accidentally let slip. Their mistakes will typically be grammar or spelling. If they’ve seriously screwed up their case on someone, I find it doubtful they’d realize within the 5 minute editing window, and I don’t want people substantially changing the content of their posts anyway.
Scum, however, are liable to make slips at any time. They have the most to gain by editing. A lack of editing allowed USCDiver to re-read my posts and catch me as scum last game. If I had been able to edit that post, it would have looked suspicious, but less suspicious than posting facts I shouldn’t have known.
I hope I’m making sense to you. I believe we’ll find scum 9 times out of 10 by voting for people who edit.
To each their own, but I think you’re underestimating the intersection of two very human behaviors: typos and forgetting that you aren’t supposed to be doing something that you usually do for some novel reason.
Even though I’ve played enough Mafia to be start drooling in a different way depending on the subtle sound variations that are possible with a bell, it is not inconceivable to me that I could make an edit on auto-pilot regardless of my alignment at any given time, and than any one of yousguyz is capable of it as well.
NETA: two very common human behaviors…
I don’t understand, you were saying that NETA should be enforced and now you say that a townie can clarify his mistake in future posts? If a townie can do it, a scum can do it too: If he slips, he can claim a spelling mistake.
You sounded like you would not give a chance to anybody…
and now you’re giving a way out to anybody if they argue?
Who it benefits the most, town or mafia, is up for debate. I’ve seen townies claim something they should not have and edit their post when another townie pointed out how harmful it is. And of course I’ve seen the mafia slip and edit all the same.
Again, there’s a countermeasure: if you want to see the original post, subscribe to the thread by email.
My point is that mafia players are trying to find good reasons to vote, and NETA is giving them one. In a perfect world, no townie would ever edit their posts, but this isn’t a perfect world. If we go by this, the mafia will get an easy pass for many votes unless we’re all good townies and nobody ever edit their posts, which I guess is reasonable, but I think it will happen anyway, for various reasons.
90%, I like these odds! Idle Thoughts edited post #180, I think everyone should vote for him tomorrow!
Seriously, 90% can’t be right. I’m not going to argue about how this cannot be right, because it should be obvious that 90% is too high.
