Because if you expect something, than what you get might be less than you expected. If you expect nothing, if you do get nothing you get what you expected. If you do get something, you get MORE than you expected.
Ah. I generally agree. But if I have an employee, I expect more than nothing from that person. If I get nothing, out they go!
What about things like respect and honesty?
I expect to be respected by people and I expect courtesy. If I didn’t expect some degree of respect * (what a tongue twister that turned out to be) * then I would be opening myself up to be a prime target for being treated like dirt. If we don’t have some level of expectation then we could easily become victims to those who would abuse that lack of self-esteem.
I expect nothing. And recieve it.
