**Juliet **- reminds me of one of Jeff Foxworthy’s lines when talking about dealing with babies. “When they say 6-12 pounds on the diaper box, they mean it - that’s all it’ll hold!”
Just finished the latest round on the drawing from hell. I have identified and relabled the assorted screws, rivets, and rivnuts. Have I mentioned I love my job???
I did it all personally just for you. Not really although I have seen friends and neighbors packages, trying to take same gets you the Walk of Shame real fast. Trust me ------ its been tried. Your stuff probably came from PHIL5 or 9 which is right next door to where the boxes are filled and since things are actually a little slow right now it got included with the Prime shipments. If you e-mail me a picture of the label I can tell pretty much what happened but it really isn’t all that odd. Up until this last year when we started to suck all my stuff came early though our SC; now a lot comes basically “on time” through UPS.
I don’t care enough about where my stuff came from - I was just amazed that I got it so fast, but it makes sense that they’d dump stuff in with Prime to get a full load.
Got a message from my daughter that the plumber has arrived. Here’s hoping it’s a quick and easy fix!
Uggggh. After a nice sort-of-mini-vacation at my dad’s place, I’m back in the sweatbath apartment. I didn’t properly get to sleep until about 5 AM or so. Got up too late. And the renovators next door are back, with their constant banging. At least it’s not the heavily vibrating drill at the moment. And there are constant loud high-pitched screeches throughout the day, as usual. And it’s too hot in here, especially with the windows shut.
Ugh. Same old thing. I spend much of the night trying to sleep, and much of the day being too tired to do much. Same story.
At least I think today is the last too-hot day in a while.
Maybe tonight I’ll take my multiple mix-and-match pills at bedtime, instead of waiting until 4:30 AM when I’m agitated because I can’t sleep well.
Boring morning, no sign of the tilers or painters or any other work being done. Now that we’re 90% completed, I’m getting edgy to ‘git’er done’ and start moving back into my full house.
I think some nappage may be good for me.
George, careful, you’ll put your eye out!
{{{Midget}}. Hoping for a good night for sleeping for you.
Juliet, diapers sound like so much fun…unfortunately the last ones I had to change were my father’s…
It’s a pretty day now, but was wet, miserable, and rainy earlier. Now it is dry and breezy so we opened the windows.
I woke up too early, so was a blurfy morning.
I fell asleep and woke up a short bit ago, with a cough drop in my mouth.
How nice, I could have choked to death in my sleep.
I feel better, except for the cough, and my voice disappears every now and then.
**FCD **and SIL are tearing down part of the basement ceiling to get to the kitchen drain. The plumber said it was pretty much clogged all the way with old grease, etc. So we’re going to replace it. Guess I’ll be helping once I get home.
And I just got a message from my sister - my mom’s in the ER with chest pains.
We’re working on potty training right now… it can’t come fast enough.
Kind of glad my boss is away at a conference this week. My cold + the cold medicine = kind of gorky Juliet today. I’m kinda spacey and not getting as much accomplished as I normally do. But we all have those days where we’re spacey. I’m off to make another cup of tea and get back at it…
Thanks, flytrap. Elderly parents are a constant source of worry.
Plus my sister is leaving at 3AM for Cleveland - luckily, another sister lives about 6 miles from them, and my other sister is retired, so someone can be there for her. I could always go if I had to.
I don’t know if I mentioned that the abandoned house 3 doors up has been bought, and whoever bought it is doing a lot of work. They cleaned up the back yard, mowed the grass and all.
Since then the mice have been horrible, I figure they disturbed a lot of nests. Yesterday when I was sitting outside my neighbors saw two mice running down their sidewalk. Adam walked right past them and didn’t pay them any attention, bratty cat.
Today I went out to sit on the deck with Ripple and I thought it looks different out here. I thought maybe because the sun was shining after all the rain we have had. Then I realized it’s because they new neighbors were having a huge tree taken down. My yard is getting a whole lot more sun now, all the patterns of the shadows have changed.
I also realized that if the tree fell the wrong way I was likely to get squished.
Now that the rain is gone it is such a pretty day. The AC is off and the windows are open. I already said that, didn’t I?
Going to make tacos for my son, and shrimp for me. Shrimp was on sale the last grocery run so I bought 3 bags of it. Bigger ones too, so a lot less irk to peel them. I hate peeling shrimp, but I would rather peel them first than deal with peels while eating them.
Music class is still about the Brittish Invasion, covered the Beatles and the Stones. The lastest lesson was on The Kinks, The Who, The Yardbirds, andTthe Animals. Special focus on the importance of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. They will all be covered in future chapters. Next chapter includes The Monkees and Paul Revere and the Raiders.
I’m not sure how much my son is enjoying the class, but I am loving it. He reads each chapter out loud to me as part of studying for the quizzes.
Howdy Y’all! Today I laundered, ahrned, and slothed. All in all not too bad of a day. We have consumed sup and there are leftovers for N.O.L. tomorrow for both of us, so win-win!
Sears’ warranties went downhill years ago. I quit shopping there over 20 years ago when a shaper burned out it’s motor after a month of light duty and they wouldn’t replace it. “No lifetime warranty on power tools” they said. Screw you, I said, and never went back.
That does sound good.
I made a pot roast last night, for the first time in many years. Now I guess we get to eat beef sammiches for a few days. I may even break out the meat slicer and slice it up all proper like. I usually lives in the back cupboard permanently 'cause it’s a pain to clean, but this may be a job for it.
Found a recipe for Posole I want to try but I’m not sure I want to buy a 6 pound can of hominy.
MOOOMMMM. Best wishes for a quick and complete clean bill of health for your Mother. Could be many things and not necessarily heart related. Let’s hope it’s gas.
Home. Making tater salad and that’s as far as I have got on supper plans.
Hubby had to get stitches in his hand today so he is complaining. Poor guy.
I am tahred and it’s only Tuesday. Lord help me. I am sleepy and it’s way too early to go to sleep. I need to do a load of laundry so I have clean clothes to wear tomorrow. I have my first manager meeting with the new Director so that should be interesting. I really hope he does not have too many expectations as I am already beat down and not feeling the excitement he is probably feeling.
Off to throw that tater salad together.
Oh. I called the cable company and complained about all the outages and there have been 8 in the last few weeks. I got a credit of over $43. Would not have got it had I not called. Bunch of crooks.
Perhaps I will try pork tenderloin layer with apples, sweet potato slices and onion slices.
I reported that the “rescue” Pomeranian was delivered of the Wages of Sin Saturday. She doesn’t like me, as many women do, unless I am feeding her. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) suggested that a man mistreated her at some point.
But I digress.
Nickel (my dog is Penny) has become psycho about the puppies. A gardener with a truck and trailer full of lawnmowers and other articles of his trade was canvassing the neighborhood. Psychodog began barking at him. He said to Mrs. Plant (v.3.0), “You better control your dog, or I’ll drop kick him like a football!” Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) responded, “Oh, shut up and go away.”
We picked up Chinese for supper, since the kitchen is pretty much worthless. **FCD **has about an hour of work to finish the plumbing, then I can put everything back together. Daughter and SIL will launder all the towels used to sop up all the mess. Maybe by tomorrow evening, we can get back to sorta normal. Repair to the ceiling will have to wait a while - too much other stuff has to get done.
My sister said my mom will be given a stress test in the morning, then will probably be sent home. In the back of my mind, I’m aware that she’s about the same age as her parents were when they died… Hope it’s minor.
