Really dragging this morning, but I’m not sure why. Altho those times I dreamed that I woke up - maybe I did wake up? :dubious: I see a long day ahead. Plus I have to go home the long way.
The county fair opens today and my usual route home is right past the fairgrounds. That road is only one lane in each direction, so it doesn’t take a lot to back it up. The other way has more traffic, but it mostly keeps moving. Still, it may be a long day.
 My condolences to your sister. Cleveland sucks at anytime, but add the insult of leaving for there at an un-Ogly hour just compounds the issue!
Doggio, my comment last week about no gator in the area, seems I mispoke…South Joisey’s got one.
Irk, then two meetings; guess that’s why it’s called twonight.
FCM, county fair, two-lanes; yeah, you might get through in the early morning ok, but coming home is going to be a nightmare.
Spidey, as a native N. Ohioan, Cleveland does not suck as much as it used too…
Happy Birthday Butters!! Enjoy the 3-day weekend coming up.
We’ll see if there is any remodel work to be done today, I’ve opened the garage door already.
Need to mail some bills and those annoying product warranty cards to the manufacturer today and hold soccer practice for the 10/11-year olds. Oh, and mow the lawn (early, it’s due to reach 96F today)
**Spidey **- the trip didn’t happen… again… My sis and her friend have been wanting to go to the R&R Hall of Fame for years. Two years ago, the trip was canned because her friend’s car was in a flood and was totaled. This year, not only did the issue with our mom come up, but her friend’s car was hit on the beltway. Apparently TPTB don’t want them in Cleveland either!
**MetalMouse **- the drive in to work is no biggie - I pass the fairgrounds around 6AM - it’s pretty much dead. But going home today and tomorrow will be via detour. I got caught in it last year - that won’t happen again!
OK, back to work. I just finished building a model and now I’ve got a new pile o’drawings to do.
So it went from a -12 to a -11?; that’s still off the scale in suckage!
I started to delete this & saw the word “Trebuchet”. What an awesome font name!
HBD, Butters
Why? Mooommm, I went to the nearby church carnival last night; very limited on the rides; which means limited on the photo ops. There was more of a midway; much of it by the church - their own food/beer tents, bingo, etc. than the carnival one.
I’m doing a little better today. We had breakfast for dinner yesterday, then just chilled on the couch. It was a Peppa Pig kind of night.
Tomorrow night, the kiddos are going to Grandma’s house. Not that Romeo and I will do anything fun; we’re going to clean the basement so all the crap is out of the way for the people replacing the furnace a week from tomorrow. So much fun.
Howdy. Thank you all for the Birthday love. I have the day off today and have had my hair colored. Gotta keep the gray at bay.
I also went around with the cable company again as my WiFi was not irking but I fixed it myself. Hate Comcast. I even got another credit for yesterday’s outage. I am up around $40 thus far. If this keeps up they will pay me to have their shitty service.
I am going to cook a decent meal for a change.
Hubby is going to pay off my credit cards for my birthday which is awesome. He was gonna pay off my car but there are only two more payments left which I can take care of. It will be strange not to have any bills.
In defense of my one-time “Big City”, Cleveland does have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a nice Science Museum with accompanying Ore Boat you can tour, downtown stadiums (baseball, football and basketball) and in general they’ve cleaned up downtown. Other parts of the city, well, maybe not so much.
ruble, no breaking!
Juliet, who says you and Romeo can’t have fun in the basement?!? ;)
City inspector was by and approved the work to date, except for the disposal which is noisy as hell (nothing loose in it, I think the grinders need to be tightened_ and also needs to have the wires fastened back. So now just got to get the workers back in and git’er done. The contractor says they’ll be done Firday, my guess is closer to next Wednesday. We’ll see.
It’s hot. Perhaps record breaking heat. 90 degrees and hoomid. Stoopid summer just won’t let go. But 63 for Saturday. WOOT! I spent 4 hours in meetings and an hour driving back to my home base. I’m just gonna loaf til it’s time to go home.
By putting a tail on the “i”, ‘Ohio’ becomes Oh no’!…& we’re not even talking about [del]Oh No[/del] Ohio in general, but Cleveland specifically.
Cleveland football? You mean the city/team that B[del]ud[/del]Light has prepositioned Victory Fridges - beer coolers that they’ll remotely unlock so the [del]inmates[/del] citizens can celebrate if the football team somehow happens to win a game? That Cleveland Browns football team?
Metal Mouse, I smiled at the suggestion… but our basement is not a place for romance in its current state. Musty, dank, cold, cluttered. And we’re both working full workdays before cleaning Friday night, then cleaning for 4-5 hours. A better bet would be in the shower after we get all gross in the basement
And isn’t Michael Symon from Cleveland? He’s got a nice restaurant or two there.
Butters, they all suck. Comcast sucks. Spectrum (formerly waste-my-Time-Warner) sucks. DirecTV/AT&T sucks. They all suck. It’s a matter of who sucks the least for what you need in your area. But at least you’re getting credits!
Who is Loretta? And where did she once belong? And why does she have to get back there?
All these questions and more circling around my head this morning.
Happy Birthday, Butters!
Looks like we’re gonna have to change our e-mail program. Eudora is messing up and is no longer supported.
yeah symon has blogs and such so he knows where to eat there …… look up something like Symons 10 best places to eat in Cleveland ……… you should find a list
And yeah unless your rich enough to have your own personal broadband setup (I know someone who did and wow it was like 1-2 k a month to keep it running…) its just a fact of what Juliet said you pick the one that sucks the least …… or in most places whp ever has the local monopoly …… for us its TW/spectrum ….
On a personal note holiday hell is beginning to descend over this house like a green cloud over a desert outhouse ……. it wont end until January 3 or so ……
My aunt was one of 7 kids so there wasn’t a whole lot and the first familes kids were there to help raise the second family and what there was to get the favored ones got it so she goes over board on the holidays and decorating for them ………
Howdy Y’all! I had quality cee-mint pond time and I cleanded both fridges. Sloth and productivity! Win-Win! We supped upon ham 'n cheeze omelets, grits, and toast. 'Twas good and easy to fix.
This is a pretty good day! The sound of a lawnmower awakened me from my nap at 1500. I looked outside to see what was up. It wasn’t my yard man, and I pretty soon figured out that it was either a Good Samaritan or a scammer of some kind.
Turns out that my next door neighbor’s Dad came over to cut the son’s yard and just decided to do mine as well. We talked for a few minutes, and I asked if I should pay him for doing the cut. It’s a half-acre and is not an especially easy job, so I figured if he charged me 150% of my normal yard cutting payment I was ahead. He refused any payment. Then he offered to spray plant killer on my weed beds!
There are some kind people still around.
Talking with the neighbor I found that he was laid off a couple of months ago, so I happily pointed him to my Company’s website–I know we have openings for his kind of experience, and further that if he names me as his referrer I stand to gain a tidy sum in the form of a bonus.
