Fall into a MMP

Home, waiting for my sweetie. He should be here within 30 minutes.

I made him a tuna salad, per his request when he called from the VA line. Dunno what I’ll have, but I don’t like tuna salad. Maybe I’ll just have a sammich.

Waiting, waiting waiting…

I am having an annoying Monday.

I’ve been planning to buy a car and I’ve been going to various dealers to get offers. I knew exactly what model I wanted so it was just an issue of where I’d get the best offer.

Toyota is running an incentive this month; you get a choice of two thousand dollars back or zero percent financing. I wanted zero percent financing. The incentive ended today so I needed to buy a car before today to get this.

I was careful to explain my credit history situation to the dealers before they made me any offers (short story: I have no credit history). But I was repeatedly assured “Don’t worry. We’ll make this work. It’s not a problem.”

So last Wednesday, I was looking at a dealer. They made a good offer. I had explained my credit situation and even filled out a credit application for them to submit.

I called them back Friday and told them I was taking their offer. I was again assured everything was going great. I told them I could come in that day but I could wait until Saturday. They said they were going to be really busy on Saturday so could I wait until Monday? I wasn’t delighted with this but I agreed.

Saturday, I got a call from the saleswoman (she had been off Friday) and she again told me everything was okay. I asked how the credit application had gone and she assured me everything was fine.

I was supposed to go in, sign the contract, and pick up my car at noon today. Just to make sure there hadn’t been any last minute problem, I called at 9:30 this morning and was again told by the saleswoman that everything was ready. (I called because it’s a sixty mile drive to the dealership and I didn’t want to waste a trip there.)

At 10:30, I got a call from the dealership. It was their finance manager. Ninety minutes before I was supposed to be picking up the car, he was calling me to tell me there were problems. He said he wasn’t certain I could get the zero percent and I might have to pay a higher interest rate. Keep in mind this was three days after we had agreed on the terms.

He hemmed and hawed but finally said he would work on it. But I needed to produce a whole bunch of documents that had never been mentioned before. I pointed out that I would be leaving my house in about five minutes in order to drive to the dealership at the time we had agreed to for me to pick up my car. And it was pretty unlikely I was going to pull all the documents he wanted together in five minutes. So we rescheduled for later in the afternoon.

I got everything together and made the drive. I delivered all the paperwork he had asked for. He began again to tell me that I was probably going to have to pay a higher interest rate than the zero percent we had agreed on.

I looked him in the eye and told him “We agreed on zero percent last week. We agreed on all the terms last week. I am not going to buy this car unless it’s the same terms we agreed on. Including the zero percent financing.”

He said I had to look at it from Toyota’s point of view. I told him I had made sure to raise all these issues last week and I had been told it wasn’t a problem. He said he hadn’t seen my credit report until today. I told him that I had submitted my application through them five days and it wasn’t my fault they hadn’t done anything with it.

He told me it was getting late (it was around two in the afternoon) and they probably not get a response from Toyota before they closed. He told me he would call me tomorrow.

At this point, I’m resigned to the idea that they’re going to back out of their deal. I feel they were just stringing me along to keep me from buying a car from another dealer before the incentive ended. I guess they figured they could change the terms at the last minute and I would sign whatever they put in front of me.

But I’m mad as hell. I had talked to other dealers and there were other offers I could have taken if I hadn’t made an agreement with this dealer. But now I’m going to have to start all over if they renege on me.

**Nemo **- that’s the kind of crap that gives car dealers such a bad reputation. I hope you can get your car on your terms.

**FCD **got home at 4:55. Higgs nearly melted down. Taz spent a looooooong time rubbing against his shoes - weird cat. I’m glad to have my sweetie home!!

We have supped and it was good. One of my favorite things to eat is a sweet N.O.T. with just N.O.B. YUM!

Nemo if Toyota does not want your business, then another dealership will. I have walked out of many a car dealership over the years. Some I went back to when they agreed to what I wanted, some I did not go back to even though they agreed to what I wanted just because they pissed me off. When I want a vehicle I will get the vehicle I want. Hang in there.

Never let it be said that ranting online doesn’t solve anything.

Fifteen minutes after I made my last post, the dealership called me back and said I could pick up my car tomorrow. On the original terms.

HUZZAH! Rejoice Peasants! HUZZAH!

MetalMouse (and others) I know what happened in Las Vegas. I was trying to add a :frowning: and for some reason, it didn’t come through correctly. No need to discuss it here. Just made me sad.

Also :(, Tom Petty.

3 doctor things done today. I have learned I must have back surgery, and I have eliminated yet another possible cause of the headaches. Sigh.

Question: Should I fly home tomorrow night, and then drive 80 miles home and get home around 11 pm, or should I fly home on Weds and get home around 1pm? On one hand, getting home early is good, on the other hand I’m afraid I will be stupid tired and not a safe driver. Blurf.

Yay Nemo!

Yay nemo! This also clues me as to what to expect when I trade (same credit history).

Twas Monday all day. I had very little irk when I came in and had to wait until after lunch when one of the geeks sent me the report that I will be researching all month. I think he got the clue when I began to clean the common microwave and minifridge that’s close to his desk.

I mentioned my lack of credit history to one of the dealers I spoke with and he reassured me “Don’t worry. I had a customer here last week and she hadn’t had any entries on her credit history in ten years.”

I responded, “It’s closer to thirty years for me.”

It’s bizarre. I’ve always saved up my money for things I wanted to buy and paid for them when I bought them. Isn’t that supposed to be a sign of financial good sense? But apparently I’ve somehow destroyed my credit history by doing it and nobody wants to lend me money now. The fact that I pay my bills on time every month, have bank accounts that are thirty years old, and have a regular solid income means nothing. I should have been out running up big debts to prove I’m a good credit risk.

Nemo, like you I prefer to pay in cash whenever possible, but I still remember buying some furniture about 35 years ago and being denied credit because I didn’t have any ‘history’. Went out and got a credit card from the bank, charged several things, and suddenly never had a problem again. Weird system.

I paid cash + trade for my new car in April and was done in 40 minutes, tops.

I’ll save my congrats on the new car until you report it is in your garage/driveway. If they screwed you once…

Glad FCD made it home OK, Moooomm; that’s a long drive.

sunny, if it’s affordable, I’d fly in the morning; those late-night flights used to kill me for the next day or two.

Now need to find some sustenance from the goodies I brought from the store this morning.

WHAT???

vile profanity I just turned off the news because I couldn’t take any more Vegas coverage and now this?

On top of the fact that I couldn’t get my Evil Hospital Badge this morning because somebody fubared something up the line? And I have to go to off-site training tomorrow and will probably need my badge.

vile profanities

opens up Skyrim so she can stab shit

(The good news is the new job seems much better than I anticipated. I just have to get used to everything and the information overload first.)

I had made another entry earlier, and it’s gone. Musta hit the wrong button.

Life is back to normal here. And our concrete is being poured tomorrow - YAY!!

So far, October is starting well for us.

Maybe not, at least not yet.

Nemo, congrats on wearing down the dealer.

Glad the new job is working out, BigKitty.

In the truly mundane bucket, I can report that the milk I just had with my cereal for dinner was slightly off. I wasn’t sure, and it was all the milk there was, so I had it. Definitely a weird after taste. Phooey.

Well, I did have a doughnut before work. That counts for something. It may - just may - have been a Tim Hortons.
All the talk at work was Vegas and Tom Petty. Not a happy Monday at all. And for those like me who are not superstitious at all but keep track of things with possibly bad juju -------- note that this is October AND we have a Friday the 13th coming up.

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.

**FCD **was really tired yesterday - duh! He was still abed when I left, but mostly that’s because he’s waiting for the guy who’s going to pour the concrete.

I think I was pretty tired, too. I woke once, but fell right back to sleep. I’m feeling close to human this morning.

Another lovely day ahead, and with luck, I’ll see a couple of hours of it when I get out of here. And just over 2 weeks till vacation. I can do this!

Happy Tuesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin and clear out with a predicted high of 85 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Should be a nice day out. I shall finish up cleanin’ da cave today. I did manage the bathrooms and kitchen yestiddy. I can handle dustin’ and vacuumin’ better today. We shall sup upon burgers and fries. I made the burgers last Firday but then OYKW wanted pizza so I froze the burgers. Took 'em out of da freezer and stuck 'em in da fridge last night. I do love a good grilled burgers with all the fixin’s and fries!

sunny I’d fly back in the mornin’ especially if you feel it would be safer drive wise.
Ick on the back surgery. Hope all goes well.

BigKitty glad the new gig seems to be OK.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I suppose I should get started. Really won’t take long, just gotta get it done.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Fine then I’ll just talk to myself. I have dusted and vacuumed. Go Me! I also have a load of laundry in the dryer and one in the washer. I shall mop the kitchen when I am motivated. For now I shall chill.
