"Family Guy - The Quest For Stuff" game

By the way…

I haven’t had sound or music in days, which is a bummer.

I do love some of the tasks they have for Peter, like dancing the Shapoopi, but without any music, it’s a bit boring.

I hope they clear out some of the bugs soon. I wasn’t around for the Simpsons rollout, so I have no idea if this is similar, better, or worse than the Simpsons. I have to say, the one thing that HAS been good is the connectivity to the game. I have rarely had any trouble logging into the game, which is completely different than my experience with TSTO.

Right now, poor Quagmire has a gerbil running up his pant-leg, and this task has been repeated about 6 times in a row now. He has some funny tasks, like his Giggity walk, but he doesn’t get any bonus prize with any of his other tasks,

Oh, I had about half a day a few days ago where I just could not connect to the game.

My interest is flagging. It’s annoying to have to build up the funds to buy a building and then still spend a day and a half doing tasks to actually unlock the character. Not a fan of the fact that everyone’s tasks have different time limits. I don’t like feeling like I have to check in every two hours or I’m letting characters go to waste.

I’m still new at it, and I’m enjoying the atmospherics. We’ll see if it gets too repetitive.

I am thinking of deleting it. I stopped watching the show because of what I found to be too many domestic violence jokes. I don’t find it funny and it was relentless. I’m not advocating it be canceled or censored, but I don’t have to watch it when I’m uncomfortable and triggered every episode. I haven’t watched it in years.

So, of course, one of the tasks is Lois and Peter beating the shit out of each other for 8 hours. And it was a required tasks. I was hoping that creeper dude, the one who likes Chris and I’m blanking on his name even though I know it starts with an H, would be premium so I wouldn’t have to use him either, but apparently he’s coming up for me soon.

I’m not sure entirely yet what I’m going to do. If I have to get creeper dude, maybe I can store him right away or not finish the tasks. And maybe I’ll never have to do the Lois/Peter task again. I knew the game would have the same sense of humor, but I was hoping that not everything would carry over and I’d give it a chance. I gave it a chance and I’m not sure it’s going to be for me.

Fair Rarity, i think the guy you are thinking about is Herbert.

I am still trying to get Lois. This has been over two days of repetitive tasks, and now I am down to one last glass of wine. It is getting very old to have Jerome fluff out his afro.

Right now, I seem to be in a pattern of collecting $2000, spending it right away on something, like land clearing or a building, and starting over. It’s like shampoo: Lather, rinse, repeat.

It’s frustrating on the one hand to only have one worker to build things with, but I never have the money to build two things at once anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

I haven’t seen the Peter-Lois fighting yet. That won’t bother me too much if I only have to see it once or twice. I have had my fill of the Quagmire gerbil task, though. I don’t want to ever run it again, nor do I want to make Bonny twerk or sell Baked goods. I keep saying this is just the beginning, to give it some time, but each day nothing has really changed.

There are a few tasks I really like. Peter’s Surfin’ Bird is fun, as well as his Shapoopie. If you want to see him dance the Shapoopie, make sure he is visible first. I accidentally started him on the Shapoopie task while he was invisible behind a building, and I had a hell of a time trying to find him.

The game is much better with the character commentary, which I got to hear today for about 10 minutes.

One thing I wish they had was a way to find where all the characters are at any given time. I often forget who is doing what, and I have to tap all the buildings just to find everyone again.

Oh well. It would be nice to take a breather for a bit instead of constantly doing tasks for lipstick or whatever. So I think after I get Lois, I will do exactly that… Take a breather. I need to bankroll some cash anyway to clear some land.

Howdy all,

Well, I have stopped to do a bit of a game inventory. And here is where I am.

I am currently on level 9, and since they don’t tell you how many points you need for each level, i have no idea when I’ll hit 10, although the bar indicates I’m about half-way.

I am also in the process of trying to find Lois. I sent her on a task this morning, but I can’t find her anywhere, and she isn’t in a building. The only thing I can come up with is that the task I put her on has placed her behind one of the buildings, but which one, i have no idea.

I have two different outfits to create, one for Peter and one for Quagmire, that require the “eyeshadow” item. 5 for one outfit, 6 for the other. There are 4 different tasks that supposedly give out the eye-shadow, however. I have yet to see even one of them. These outfits won’t be seen for a long time in my game.

There is only one way to get the gerbil, which sucks because I am sick of the whole gerbil joke. It’s not funny after seeing it for a week straight.

Has anyone spent real money yet? I would hesitate because of all the trouble they have had with the game thus far.

I’m getting annoyed with all the tasks changing time. I went to go send someone out on a 4 hour task and right before it started I realized it was only a one minute task. I started to worry about how many times I had sent that person out on 1 minute tasks and then exited the game only to see that all the characters had their times rearranged. Kinda silly if you ask me.

OTOH,With TSTO, I get annoyed putting everyone on the same task over and over out of repetition. But not because I have to watch them do the same thing (Which is what this avoids) but because it takes the challenge out of the game. Sign on at 7 am and put everyone on 12 hour tasks, sign on at 7pm and do it again. Make adjustments if my day is going to be different. If I get out of work early, then I put them on an 8 hour task in the morning, 4 hour after that and 8 hours over night. I can do it with my eyes closed. I’ve always thought they could make the game more challenging if you couldn’t repeat a task and/or you had to do all of a person’s task before you go do one again. For example, if you do Homer’s 8 hour task, you’d have to do his 30 min/4h/12h/24h before you could do the 8 hour one again. Man, my schedule would be a train wreck, but I’d be signing on a lot more often.

A bunch of the beginning players had their first task changed to be one minute. It made grinding the ‘oregano’ for unlocking Lois pretty easy!

Yeah, the task changing time is a real odd thing. But now that I know it is there, I can at least look for it.

The thing that is really bugging me is the things you have to collect for characters and outfits. I am up to 14 eye shadows, and one task to maybe get one.

Sorry. 17 eye shadows.

Peter pulling his eye out for 6 hours is the only action right now I can use to get it…

I just found out that each outfit that needs eye shadow to complete it gets credit for the same eyeshadow if one is found.

I finally received an eye shadow prize at the end of a task, and when it moved up to the right hand corner of the screen to move the bar to show progress, all three bars came up on the screen, and each bar moved one sixth of the way over.

Instead of having to find 17, you only have to find 6. Much better.

I hope this is the case but I don’t believe it to be.

That’s the way its working for me

It is the case. If you need something for more than one person. When you get it, it applies to everyone.

Has anyone lost their automatic clam when visiting Oliie’s town?

The last two days,mI have not received a clam when I visited, and I also noticed that they have lifted the restrictions on adding friends through facebook. However, I cannot add FB friends, and get the same error as before.

I thought I would get at least one clam a day, but that was taken away. Is this still working for everyone else?

There are so many bugs in this game, it is unplayable.

  1. i have had the tasks stop subtracting time when I leave the game. The latest time was this morning. Last night, I set everyone to 6 hour tasks (except Mort, who was on a 2 hour task). This morning, when I check ed the game, less than 30 minutes had been subtracted from each task.

So, I checked the help section, and they claim this is a “rare” bug. If rare means every other time you enter the app, well, then yeah. I see their point.

I checked the game again before writing this, and a whole 5 minutes has ticked off the tasks.

  1. i still cannot do anything with Facebook, the only way to get moving in this game and (i assume) accumulate clams.

  2. clams have stopped coming to me when I visit Ollie’s town. One clam is one clam. Especially when i can’t add anyone thru facebook.

  3. speaking if FB, that is supposedly fixed. Anyone able to use this feature yet?

  4. sound still continues to be a problem.
I know I don’t have to play this game, bit I want to stop playing TSTO, and i’d like something to take its place. I guess stopping both would be the answer, but apparently, I like tapping things on a screen.

Anyone else frustrated, or are my problems with the game unique to me?

I’ve had no problem with task time or sound. I have stopped getting clams from Ollietown; I just figured that that freebie ran out. I have not attempted to work with FB at all.

I haven’t had task timing problems either. I don’t ever use sound on this or Tapped out so I don’t know about that. I used to get one clam every time I went to Ollie’s and now it’s more infrequent but it still happens sometimes.

Thanks for the replies, all.

Right now, I could live with just about everything, but the losing of task time, especially overnight, really stinks.

Here is their help file’s answer to this problem and how to solve it.
Problem: Timers don’t go down when away from the game

Known issue: in rare cases, players may experience lost time or return to see their characters’ actions with more time left than expected. We are working on a fix for this issue.

If you’re experiencing this issue, you can avoid it by the following steps:

  1. When you’re done with your play session, first MINIMIZE the game using your Home button
  2. Once minimized, “force close” the game by using your device’s force close feature
What in the hell does this mean? I think step one (i am on an iPad) means when I am ready to exit the game, I hit the little round button at the bottom of my iPad. This is what I would consider my HOME button,

But what does step 2) mean? How do you “force close” a game that is already closed? And what is my iPad’s “force close” feature?

If anyone can shed some light in this, I’d appreciate it. I will try to do what these directions are telling me to do, but I don’t know what they mean.

Thanks

PS . Please help. I have been forced to watch Peter and Quagmire spooning for a day now. It is a bit uncomfortable, especially when they wiggle to shift places.

I’m still playing, seeing if I get super into it. It’s not growing on me. I’m annoyed I got another “resolve marital issues” task, but what really grinded my gears today? A grammatical error in the game. I got the sea captain (Seamus?), the one with wooden arms and legs. He has a bit of dialog with Peter and the game used “it’s” instead of “its” for possessive. When I see that on message boards and stuff, it doesn’t bug me too much, but when it comes from something professional, well, like I said, it grinds my gears.
