"Family Guy - The Quest For Stuff" game

I would like to get some friends, so I have set up a facebook account.

If someone would like to send me a friend request, my fb name is 68xr7gte

How far are you in the game (as far as levels go), how many characters have you uncovered, how much land have you been able to uncover, etc?

I have been slowly moving through this game, but the tasks are painful. Add the items you have to “win” through your free characters going into a 6 hour task 10 times in a row is just mind-numbingly bad.

I have also noticed that the eye shadow item is not being given to every characters outfit that needs one. Not sure if this is a current glitch, or if they fixed the way it was originally working, but if I have to earn all the eye shadow icons for each outfit, it will take me forever.

I still only have one worker, which means I get one section of land cleared a day and usually one building or whatever. I haven’t farmed houses in this game like I did for TSTO, because I don’t have the space, and even if I did, I can’t afford to tie up my one worker like that.

I guess if I were to buy another worker or two things would speed up some, but I am not exactly sure why I need to speed up.

I am always strapped for cash, but that doesn’t really surprise me. What is helpful is when you have 15 or 30 minutes and you have 5 or more of the characters free. You can put them all on 1 minute tasks and put together some quick coin.

I have 9 characters, I think and am mid-teens level wise. I haven’t made a fake FB acct, and I’m not using my real one. I believe TinyCo is going to make a non-fb friends mode, so I’ll do it that way if i’m still around.

I wonder if there is a limit to how many things the found goods apply to. I’ve had eyeshadow apply to two tasks, but maybe it doesn’t go to 3, 4. I should be trying to save up for Meg, but I keep getting distracted by other things, like opening the wharf.

I had 5 eye shadow, just got hooker peter, no more eye shadow, hate to say i told ya so…

Well, you were wrong.

Sort of, anyway.

I have had a number of things being recorded on up to three active lists. I’m not sure when it happened, but when another eye shadow/compact thing popped up on another list, it seemed to be a standalone. So, yeah, I have to collect 5 more of those things, but not the total of 21 or whatever it was that I would have had to collect.

I am currently getting double credit for eye-shadow again, as well as hair spray (i think thats what it is).

I don’t have any idea why the double credit or triple credit is given or not given, but for the most part, if I have had two or more lists that have the same item on it, both get credited when one item shows up.

I uncovered the wharf today, and that was a big mistake. I recently got rid of those damn kids running around, and now I have 6 or 8 pirates running around. They are annoying, because they get in the way of my taps. If you hit one of those pirates, another window pops ip, telling you what to do with them. You have to kill that window and try to tap the original thing again.

That’s annoying. It is also annoying to tap and get a flowerbed or whatever in the background, and the name of the item pops up. Too much tapping on this game.

I am on level 15, and I have 8 or 9 characters… Meg and Shamus are next but I only have one construction worker, so it will take a while. Not to mention, money.

If TinyCo comes out with a non-Facebook version, that will be great. I still have no other towns to visit, but I haven’t really tried hard. I am not sold on this game yet, so I have only posted my account name here. But I only think a few people are even reading this thread, so I suspect there aren’t many players who have abandoned TSTO.

Never mind.

Can anyone help me?

I just released shamus, and one of the tasks associated with him to get his arms and legs back is to put a pirates ship in the ocean.

One problem. There IS NO pirate ship.

Anyone know where or when this thing appears?

It should be on your build menu if you started the wharf. It might not be a task, but if you go into the “store” part and click on buildings or decorations, it does show up. It can’t go on the water. :frowning:

Well, my wharf is there, but there is no pirate ship.

I also have the lighthouse complete, but I cannot find the ship anywhere.

This is actually reminding me of one of the complaints I have. When you get a task that directs you to build something or buy something, my game doesn’t take me to that item. It always drops me off into the first menu of stuff, at the far left regardless of what it is.

I guess I’ll keep looking for the Pirate ship. Thanks for your help!

You have to buy the Pirate Ship (it costs $500).

Hit the shopping cart button. Then select the decoration menu (it’s the one all the way to the right). Scroll to the right. Keep scrolling through decorations until you get to the boats. The pirate ship is there, I promise.

Yeah, shopping cart is what I meant when I said build menu. My bad. Not the clipboard.

I found it!

How odd that you cannot put it in the water.

Thanks for pointing out the location.

Anyone still playing? My OCD compels me to keep at it, but I have to admit that the level of repetition required just to unlock one character or one skin is getting a bit tedious. I largely blew off the circus special this past weekend because the level of effort required for a freemium player seemed insurmountable.

I agree with this almost exactly. I keep telling people it’s not a very good game and they keep saying ‘well, it must not be that bad if you’re still playing it.’

What I don’t like about the repetition is the common/rare/chance/etc BS. Just tell me how many times a character needs to do something to unlock something and I’ll do it. For example Chris needs 5 pieces of Heavy Metal. To get that, I can put Joe or [someone else] on a 12 hour task. I do that over night. I get really sick of waking up and finding out neither of them got it. It took me about 2 weeks to get them. Instead, just tell me, to get that item, I need to put Joe on this task 15 times, I’ll work that into the schedule.

Right now, I’m trying to get some kind of bracelet (amongst about 45 other things) for Lois. It’s a 2 hour task, I need, I think 5 of them. Rather then having me put Lois on two hour tasks all day for a week to get them, just tell me you need her to do this task 15 times. I can work with that. It’s a real let down to not get it.

Fairly similar to Tapped Out. Gripes so far:

  1. I would have rather had a Futurama tapped out before Family Guy

  2. When the game asks you to build something, it doesn’t take you to that item, you have to find it in the menu yourself.

  3. One of the tasks requires real money, and I assume it will be clogging up the task bar forever…

OTOH I do like that clams seem to be much easier to earn than donuts…

I’m still here.

I mentioned the repetition of the same tasks over and over the first time it came up. I believe it was for a Peter outfit, but it is all the same. Currently, I have four outfits that are close to completing, one completed but not yet created, because the most annoying thing I have found is once you collect all of the ridiculous crap, you have to wait 12-24 hours for the outfit to be generated. Why make a player wait up to a day for an outfit when you spend all that time sending characters on the same tasks, over and over.
I also blew off the Circus event completely. I am weary of the different things roaming the town, because when you accidentally tap on a bull or a clown or a pirate or whatever, it pauses the game to tell you what you have to do to clear it. That is amazingly annoying when you have multiple things in the town, along with 12 characters. I have all the bulls right now, and I just stopped getting clowns, so I tapped them quite a bit by mistake.

I will list my gripes, many probably share the same.

  1. when you have to build something or buy something, selecting the task takes you to the start of the decorations list, regardless of what the thing is you need to buy. Just take us to the damn item!

2). The repetition of tasks for the same item. I have the same frustration that all of you do regarding the placing of everyone on long tasks before bed, only to wake up and not get the item. When you list something as “rare”, what does that translate to in terms of number of tasks to get one? The worst one is a whip for lois. The item has “epic” as its descriptor. Does that mean it will take 20 tasks for one rope?

3). I don’t like the way menu’s pop up. For instance, when you are clearing checkmarks or coins floating above a building, it should let you clear that first. But if I have a checkmark on a building like the Griffin house, instead of clearing the task or coins, it gives me the list of tasks going on inside the house and how long each one of those has left. I don’t care about those right now! I want to get all of the money, check marks and XP icons off the screen. This one truly drives me bonkers on the griffins home, because some characters use the house regularly, plus Quagmire’s minute task is used there as well. So when I have 5-10 free minutes and Quagmire is free, I send him on 5 one-minute tasks. Each time, I have to wait for him to leave the house and go down the block a bit before I can reset him. And if Lois, Peter, or Chris is in the house, I get to see that first as well as how much time is left before the finding money in the cushions thing runs its course.

4). This weekend’s circus thing was really poorly planned, at least from a freemium player’s perspective, but I imagine for everyone. There was no way you could collect everything without spending a significant amount of real money. That’s fine, I guess, but why force us all to have Chris hit clowns in the face with pies if there was little chance to get Pee Pants Peter? I was able to get the stuff for the clown outfit, but since I started Joe’s cop outfit before completing the pee pants outfit, I will have to wait and hope they don’t pull the plug after midnight tonight.

  1. I didn’t really even understand the circus themed event. There was no warning about it, it just showed up on a splash screen. Was there a show tie-in? I didn’t get it.

  2. the sound still is working half-assed. Sometimes I get all of it, most of the time I get the background music and no characters, and rarely I get characters and no background music.

7). Using only one person to build everything really makes the game crawl. Which is what i am doing. I have three different things that I have to build or repair to get other things freed-up, but you either buy clams to get another builder, or wait. i wait, because…

  1. i rarely have enough money to do more than one thing at a time.
  2. another gripe I have (that i also have with TSTO) is the inability to spin buildings around completely — and anything else for that matter - which makes for limited placing. I hate this. Even though it is stupid, and an imaginary town, I wish I could create it the way I want, even if some buildings are acing away from me.
10). I have not had any extra cash to do anything like “house farming”, which is fine, but as a result, the town is barren of any decorations.

On the positive side, there is no Krustyland type second screen to visit every day.

And has anyone noticed how TSTO has basically forgotten Krustyland? But that’s for another thread.

Has anyone decided to use a Facebook account yet? I still have my secondary account ready if anyone wants to visit another town. Just let me know, or send me a request. Either way, I would like to see what it is like to visit other towns, and if the clams pop up a bit more frequently than donuts on the other game. So far, I have 0 friends, which makes my game visits short. But I am interested in having a few friends if anyone else has a Facebook account set up.

One question.

Anyone have Brian yet?

I am currently trying to get Brian, and a few of the items you have to get for him can be “supposedly” procured by clearing a bull. However, you can’t clear a bull until you acquire Brian.

WTF? They have put Brian in an infinite loop, and he has to have 14 things collected that are rare and extra rare. I doubt I will see him anytime soon.

I really hope I get rid of these Bulls soon, but I can’t clear them without Brian. The only thing that may make sense is if bulls continue to roam the town after Brian is created. Anyone know?

Clearing Bulls is just one of the ways to get bones, you can also Make Dr Hartman practice surgery, Make Lois practice Tai-Jitsu or Make brain damaged horse lick sugar cube off of Peter’s butt. Not that I have the horse yet.

But it is odd that they put the Bull thing in there, maybe it’s for the future. Maybe for people playing later down the road things will happen in a different order.

I also found a typo where it said “Have Peter do Peter’s Taxes”. It took me a few days before I realized that it should be “Have Mort do Peter’s Taxes”.

I really like how when you click on anything, you can exit out of selecting it by clicking elsewhere in Quahog. It now bugs me to no end in TSTO to have to find that tiny little arrow and click it when I tap a house by mistake, for example.

But I’m about ready to give up. This circus event REALLY grinds my gears. Or i should say “grinded” because it’s over and I didn’t get the fucking clown outfit. Clowns were supposed to generate once every hour for a max of like 4-5. I woke up to like two. I put Chris on nose-picking duty and checked every hour yesterday and did not get a clown every hour. Plus you’re supposed to get the second kind of clown once every 4 hours and that didn’t happen either. I am two fucking pies (or maybe even one) short of the clown outfit. I get that they need to make money, but making an event that is impossible for people to finish in the timeframe is bullshit. Supposedly it might happen again, but I don’t know if I want to stick around for it. I don’t care that I didn’t plop down money for the premium stuff. That’s fine. But I don’t like setting a really high goal and then having bugs fuck it all up. tsto broken easter baskets, I’m looking at you too

I could use my clams to get the clown outfit now, as the price dropped because I’m so close, but I don’t want to pay to get something I should have gotten for free. And I’m not liking the game enough to contact tinyco and ask for help. GRINDS MY GEARS.

Yeah, the clown thing was super annoying. I was lucky to see two every couple hours. Especially after I got all 60 of the cotton candy things because I assumed the other items would be doable.

I’m still on the fence on whether to keep playing or not.
