How are some of you able to draft 4-5 superstars for your leagues? Smaller teams or less players per league? The league I am in, the teams are so large, and the the number of players are high enough were you get 1-2 superstars max. The winning is based on how good your 2nd and 3rd wide outs and RB’s are. Oh course, we got stuck with an autodraft as a few whiners did not want to take the time for a real draft.
Oh well, at least there is plenty of smack talk!
How do you guys handle those who sign up, but never play (leaving a roster full of IR and waived guys). Boot them or ignore? So far three W’s handed out before this assclown finally showed up (after talk of booting him started).
My league only has eight teams, and we are all fanatic enough that the games get played. In the past, when players would drop out, we would either try to find someone to play the space or set the lineup by highest player rank for that team. No trades or free agent pickups for the abandoned team- this guards against players raiding the team for all the best NFL players. We usually found someone to finish the season for the team, though.
This was my roster for the past week:
QB- Bledsoe
RB- Holmes
WR/RB- Jerome Pathon
WR- Isaac Bruce
WR- Troy Brown
TE- Sharpe
K- Elam
DT- Denver
Back to the OP: I forgot to bitch about Shannon Sharpe. Don’t make me look for a new tight end, dammit!
See if you can get the Coach to give the Bus the ball a bit more will ya- he is killing me. A couple of weeks ago I needed 4 lousy points from him on Monday night football- result, elf6c loses. Sigh. . .
I only play in leagues that I either know the owners, or have the commissioner’s word that the people involved are going to be active. Public leagues are worthless. I also don’t play in leagues with more than 12 people, as more than that gets too burdensome. Plus, the dilution of talent gets too thin, and it becomes not who drafted the most consistent team, but who got the luckiest that week.
Good post Munch. I went and counted-- we have 14 players with decent sized teams each. Combined with the manditory autodraft, luck played a large measure of sucess, along with skill at picking your supporting players and scanning the waiver wire and rising rookies.
I like 12- or 14- team leagues. Makes it so deadbeat owners don’t muck up too much stuff. I’ve been getting so fed up with them over the course of this football season and the last baseball season that I’m starting to try to figure out how a dispersal draft might work.
Steelerphan, in an 8-team league you have GOT to have a better RB start than Jerome Pathon… ?
Funny, in one league there’s a guy who hasn’t showed up since the draft (he started Bettis on bye last week), he’s got TD in his flex spot, and he’s 3-0. In Week 2 he beat the biggest smack-talker in the league, which was satisfying, but I’ve got him this week and I’m worried… Ricky should put up monster points against KC, and I do NOT want to lose to someone who doesn’t even play. Not that Garcia’s been so great for me, but he’s on bye this week, and my best option to back him up is Brad ‘Rumplestiltskin’ Johnson @Cin. I was able to grab Lamar Gordon, so I’m hoping he gets the nod this week against Dallas, but even if he doesn’t I can pick between Thrash vs Hou, J.Smith vs NYJ, Moulds vs Chi, and McCardell @Cin to fill 3 spots. I’m having trouble picking 2 of those 4 right now, I might just bench Gordon and start a WR in my flex spot instead.
