Fargo S4

Just a reminder, the season premiere is tomorrow 9pm EST.

Open spoilers after each new episode, as it airs, below

Okay, not “guy”.

So far, I’m liking this one a lot better than Season 3, which just never had that “Fargo” feel to me. One thing I’ve always liked about Fargo is how it takes a couple of episodes to get the chessboard all set up before the pieces start moving.

I saw Timothy Olyphant’s name in the closing credits for the second episode, but don’t remember seeing him in the episode. Did I miss him somewhere? I’m guessing he was part of that group of cops raiding the mortuary at the end?

Yes. I think he was the leader of that group; and was the one who actually kicked the door down.

I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention, but

why did the nurse kill the Mafia leader?

I think a) she’s crazy and b) the son asked her to “Take care of him.”

agreed - but there is likely something more there since she lives accross the street from where the meeting was (with the ‘narrator/funeral home/etc’) - there is always more to something.

And who was sitting in the chair by the window while she was killing the Don? They never moved, and between the blinds in the window and the distance from the camera, I couldn’t tell who it was and if they were asleep or not.

BTW, some great character names so far… Don Fadda, Doctor Senator…

It was one of the goons assigned to guard the Don. After the nurse came in he finished the pocket flask he was drinking from and passed out.

Because she is a crazy serial killer. She later tried to do the same thing with a different old man and was caught. That was why she was fired but she had apparently been through that loop before in other hospitals so she knew how to play it.

She may have thought that the conversation with Josto meant that he wanted it done but she misunderstood. He didn’t even recognize her when she showed up at the funeral plus it’s clear that he wanted his father alive.

Yes, she is this season’s quirky sociopath. And the moment the son told her that he didn’t want his father to suffer and she needs to take care of him, I knew what was going to happen. Especially after she had just told him about being precise in her language so there would be no confusion. It was highly predictable.

Chris Rock, like Leonardo DiCaprio in Gangs of New York, just doesnt have the physical presence to be a gang leader IMO.

Better him than Chris Tucker.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I need to pay more attention and stop playing with the dog at the same time.

What did Oraetta put in the pie that she gave away? Cough syrup?

Ipecac syrup, which I believe is used to induce vomiting.

I had to stop and think where I had seen something like that before. Jessica Lange puts it in cupcakes to give to the neighbors in S1 of American Horror Story.

And flatulence too.

You’d think a robbery with extreme puking and farting would be funnier than it was…

The scenes with the Marshal were good…

Still not quite sure - this season isn’t quite holding me like the prior three -

What does she have against the funeral home family? Anything specific or just that they’re black?

Not sure if anyone else here is familiar with Andrew Bird (playing the mortician) but I’ve been a fan of his music for over 20 years now and it’s wild to see him acting. He’s kinda terrible at it but at the same time he does “weird” very well. It’s like seeing the guy you copied off in Algebra class on a major TV show lol
