Fargo S4

Still not thrilled with this season, but still watching.

Did you notice the company name on the truck which carried away all the guns which Chris Rock sold, at cost, to the Fargo gang? Treehorn Trucking - probably a reference to the family of Jackie Treehorn, the wealthy porn producer in The Big Lebowski. Maybe his dad or grandpa.

Very sorry to see Doctor Senator get whacked. He badly mishandled the two Mafia guys there in the coffeeshop, and then wasn’t ready when the guy with the burned cheek came gunning for him. I couldn’t figure something out, though - he and his driver got shot in full daylight. Next we see Chris Rock and his crew, illuminating the scene with their cars’ headlights because it’s completely dark out… and the police are only then on their way. Why the delay?

The Mafia own the police, and besides, it was only inwards.

…And episode 6 was pretty actiony.

This didn’t make sense. Every time previously when he met in that restaurant, he had a lot of protection. At least two guards watching over him, actively watching what was going on. No pretending.

And now he walks into the empty cafe, with no bodyguard (not even the driver outside acting like one). He deserved to get whacked.

Only real explanation could be that he was there as normal to eat, and didn’t arrange the meet. But even then, why has he got no protection? When nearly at war with the mafia?

Chris Rock is just not good. I wish they had gotten an actor for that part who had some actual menace and gravitas to them. Someone like Michael K Williams or Idris Elba would have killed that role.

Would have been 100% better if Doctor Senator was in chage and C. Rock was the constigulare.

The relationship between Satchel and Rabbi Milligan is pretty interesting. It seems unlikely but Rabbi was once in the same position as Satchel is, so he’s empathetic.

He is Ok, but yeah, no gravitas.

I know its Fargo and all but how did Gaetano survive getting shot in the back of the head? She missed and only got his ear?

She missed anything vital?

I watched the first episode and I maybe started the second one. I was really excited for this season to finally come out, but it certainly hasn’t hooked me. The only reason I dropped into this thread was to see if anyone else felt the same. Apparently, I’m not the only one.

Kinda makes me want to start the whole show ever again and rewatch S1-3.

Color Palette is probably what you’re looking for. Cinefix (youtube) has done a few videos on this, specifically getting into directors like Wes Anderson and David Fincher (and others). Also, you can look up videos about color palettes used in shows like Breaking Bad and Six Feet Under.
As it turns out (and I say that seriously, symbolism goes right over my head), the choices for set colors is more than just what looks nice.

ETA, here’s the first one I found, they have others and other youtube channels have their own (very good) break down of colors used in movies as well.

Watch “Pushing Daisies”…

The season is definitely picking up the pace - won’t know for sure until the final credits roll, but it looks to be worth the setup.

When I first watched that and recommended it to friends, I told them to wait until they got a blue ray DVD player and an HDTV to really experience it.

It was one of the reasons I finally went for HDTV - totally worth it.

Yes. You can see the bullet graze the side of his head above his ear leaving a shallow cut. I don’t think she missed though. She moved her aim on purpose to only wound him, not kill him.

Cable here, and yes, the sound did have a problem. It was like street noise would come in over the soundtrack.

A slightly better episode, I’d say. Spooky to have the ghost right there in the dark behind the girl as she blew out her birthday-cake candles.

Nice touch to have the flashes and sounds of gunfire, and the shouts of the men downstairs, come up through the radiator grille as the two women stormed the Mafia hideout.

Also a good aerial shot of the three cars driving through the wintry Missouri countryside.

So now Rabbi and Satchel are on the run - reminded me a little of The Road to Perdition.

The smile of the nurse after she’d silenced the moaning patient was chilling.

Well, I’m out. Too damn dark visually to see who’s who and there’s just no real attraction or hook with the show.
