Favorite Fictional Foods?

Coors is pretty widely available; that’s probably pretty close.

I want some Uterbraten.

Amelia Bedelia’s unique… uh… “cuisine.” :smack:

For some reason, when I was little, I assumed that Scooby Snacks would taste of caramel corn and I wanted them so badly.

I also thought cotton candy was a flavour of ice cream because I’d never seen it before in real life before I saw it on Scooby-Doo. They had it on one of those cotton candy cones.

As for me… my bones are so brittle, but I always drink plenty of… “malk”?

Call me a little strange, but ‘dish of the day’, from hitchhiker’s guide.

Gimme a 24-ounce sirloin, medium well, just lightly salted and a dash of pepper

me: I’ll just have a green salad, please
Dish: I know some lettuces who would be very put off by that

Spoilers for the coda to ‘hitchhikers: the quintessential phase’ (Not sure if this is only on the extended edition.)

The entire gang find themselves back at the ‘Restaurant.’ Random gets into an argument with the dish of the day, insisting on the ‘veggie option’ (Random is previously established as a vegetarian in the radio version, turning down Arthur’s ‘perfectly normal beast’ sandwiches on Lamuella.)

Ford, in high spirits, calls to the waitress and asks her to bring over “a talking cauliflower.” The waitress turns out to be Fenchurch, who had decided that the Restaurant was as good a place as any to wait for Arthur to show up again. She agrees, but things get a little chaotic and I don’t believe we actually hear what the cauliflower has to say.

I’d try a can of Zgwortz.

I’ll have some Cruncheetym Algae Chips with BouncyBubbleBeverage, if you please. (We’ll see if anybody gets that reference.)

I’ve had a horror of fast food ever since reading A Stainless Steel Rat Is Born (the eponymous character and his mentor hide out in a futuristic, automated transparently-satirical fast food restuarant called (IIRC) McSwineys.

I’ll also pass on any beverage emitted by the NutriMatic Drinks Dispenser. “Share and Enjoy[sup]tm[/sup]” indeed! Go stick your head in a pig, I say.

Stranger

The Algae Cakes that featured prominantly in the Major Matt Mason Big Little Book.

BTW–I make no claims, but here is a recpie for Lembas. I’ve never had any, & if it stinks I don’ wanna hear 'bout it.

I’ll take that *Soylent Green * if you’re just going to throw it out…

Bubbly Pies from Pern always sounded great to me, too. And I know it really exists but I’ve always wondered what the hell Turkish Delight is and how or where to get some.

Trania

but only in the presence of Clint Howard.

I’m with Ponder Stibbons. It doesn’t matter what it is, everything tastes good with a bit of New Shimmer on it.

It’s even better if you wash it down with something that tastes almost, but not completely, unlike tea.

How about some Kentucky Fried Lizard Parts from Zelazny’s Nine Princes in Amber? Maybe not.

What I really want is one of Sunshine’s cinnamon rolls from Robin McKinley’s Sunshine. Or her Bitter Chocolate Death. Or zebra pinwheels. Almost anything but maple cornbread, which just sounds yucky.

StG

Oh come on, how can you go wrong with a nice sausage inna bun?

I’ve been scouring my grocery store shelves for Purple Flurp, but nobody seems to carry it. I want me some Purple Flurp!

The whole meal from Babbettes Feast movie … http://www.fays-home-cooking.com/Babbetesthemedinners.htm

A jellylike sweet made stiff and chewy in texture (similat to nougat) by the addition of plenty of cornstarch, I think. Flavored with rosewater and nuts and dusted with powdered sugar. You can find it in any Middle Eastern grocery. But I’ve never heard of it called Turkish Delight outside the pages of Narnia. Its real name is rahat lokum. The two words are of Arabic origin, meaning “comfort” and “morsel.”

RE: Turkish delight. If you can’t find it around, try looking for a US-made candy called “Aplets and Cotlets.” It’s available here on the west coast, more prevalent around Christmas. There are also other flavors marketed as “Fruit Festives.” They’re all an American version, made by a family who wanted to reproduce the candy of their homeland. Similar in texture, but a bit more palatable to this American’s tastes. Fruit flavored with nuts. Aplets are made with apples, and Cotlets with apricots.

I want to try a porcuswine burger.
