Favorite glasses - a beverage-ish MMP

Blurf. Will be a nice day, and I’m planning on walking home from irk tonight. Three miles and change…

{{{Ruble}}}. The actual story is much less fun than the theory I proposed of your MIA status because you were the guy from Pennsylvania that got in trouble for being a zombie Mohammed.

**BBBobbio **- how are you planning to get *to *work? Teleportation??

kopek - I don’t know you or Muvver but in those oh too short paragraphs you did an outstanding job of showing me the window into herself. Thank you for that.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Congo - I am sorry I have been slow to respond directly to your notes - it’s not through lack of interest, it’s best described as too much going on I have “narrow minded attention span right now that tv people get I’m sure you know what I’m talking about if you S.O. is a tv photog / technician on behalf of all humanity I apologize for what you are dealing with nobody should have to live with tv people we are not human really we don’t have normal problems and it would be best if they kept us in cages and only let us out for jobs and Waffle House because nobody should have to hear us complain about what we think are problems and deal with our shitty hours and working every holiday and no we really don’t like to pick up a camera during family events I’d rather have a beer thank you yes it is amazing we get paid to do this yet I can’t imagine why anyone would want to willingly no I don’t have ADHD why do you ask?” kind of week.

So I gather Congoman runs a truck / is a vendor during sporting events? I have always lived in awe of the independent people of tv. I see how I get screwed over regularly by The Beast That Must Be Fed, I can’t imagine how it must be as an independant.

The chest cold from hell is winding down. Just found out my friend’s wife had the exact same illness and is just as far along so I think we both got it when we visited our mutual friend (who is battling cancer) two weekends ago and their son was getting over a bad cold.

Considering the big local story was 3 people in one family in Lusby died of Influenza A in the last week, 4th daughter in the hospital, I will count myself as spared.

Ahh well, good morning all!

I’d heard about the 3 people in Lusby who died, but last I heard, it was a respiratory thing - I guess later reports mentioned influenza. Very sad, and very scary…

Totally off the point - have you ever heard of residents of Lusby referred to as Lusbians?

I forced myself to get showered and dressed, then I ran to the WaWa to gas up my car and get a muffin. Yum. I’m avoiding some things that need to be done, because I can. Sooner or later, I’ll get productive. Maybe.

Oh, I’d been meaning to tell you…

my brand-new boss is on paternity leave this week, they just had Daughter #2. No pics have been observed in the vicinity of the office yet.

I’m praying the kid’s a good sleeper, because Rox (my brand-new-coworker at the brand-new-job) and I really need her daddy to be able to answer our questions, dagnabit.

Lusbians? Nope, that’s a good one.

Yeah the doctor at Washington Hospital Center I interviewed yesterday said it was “type A Influenza with a likely secondary infection to be determined tests pending.” Yes it was respiratory, and given the bout I just went through (and my friends wife is going through - she went to the doctor yesterday) I would not be surprised if it wasn’t the same thing going around.

It is nasty! And I can see how it would get worse.

I’ve been trying to start the rumor that it’s the apocalyptic superflu from The Stand.

All of a sudden, I’m second-guessing my decision not to get a flu shot…

More Uverse growing pains… It was working fine until I plugged in my Mac and tried to give one of the boxes a wired LAN connection. Now, all of the TV boxes can play live TV, but can’t access DVR recordings. I’m guessing the DVR server has an IP address conflict with something else, but the live TV server is fine. How many servers are in that little box, anyway?

DHCP is fine stuff when it works, but if Thing A had an address and Thing B was talking to it, but then Thing A gets turned off and Thing C now gets the old address, chaos ensues when Thing B tries to talk to B, expecting A. Hopefully assigning a static IP to the computer will prevent this.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll throw the main breaker and see if rebooting the entire house fixes it.

Rebooting the house. Wow. I’m more amazed that it makes perfect sense.

Either walk back, or ride my bike. Whenever I do this, I have to leave the FooMobile at work so I can go to the base on demand.

Still coughing today, but not as much. I actually only went to my observations and my first class last night. I didn’t feel that I’d be missing too much by skipping the second one and I was feeling pretty crappy, so I came home and went to bed by 7.

Today I have a midterm, although I’m not too worried about it.

Also, spare a good thought for my mom, she’s having minor surgery today to help with her chronic pain issues.

Kopek - I’m so sorry for your loss. :frowning:

Tugig - nope, he’s not independent but if we had the money to build a truck he probably would be. He works for a cable company’s sport channel. He’s the E1 for one of their broadcast trucks (the one he built). When I first met him he was a master control operator for PBS and he was embarrassed to admit that he spent his days watching Teletubbies and Barney. I think being an E1 is a step up from that but based on how he talks, some days I’m not so sure.
So my experiment with my medication has backfired on me. It took a bit over a week for it to really start working and unfortunately it seems to be taking about that long to start working again. It’s a good thing lab today was just a review of the pretest for the midterm because I had to go home after the discussion. I’ll have to do the pretest on my own.

Let this be a lesson to everyone (especially to me) - if a problem goes away after you start taking medication, just assume that it’s the medication doing it’s job and don’t test whether or not the problem spontaneously cured itself by stopping the medication. :smack:
I keep having really strange dreams about aliens. Normally I’d blame it on my current TV habits but the only thing I’m watching these days is Midsomer Murders. I’m kind of enjoying the dreams though.

It has come to my attention that we have been remiss. Thus I shall rectify the situation.

<ahem> clearing throat <ahem>

Kopek, I’m sorry for your loss. She sounds like a fabulous person to have known.

Sticky Thinking good surgical recovery thoughts!

I’m still doing OK, though I now offically have cabin fever. Still getting tired very easily walking any distance, but it’s definitely getting better.

A friend came over with her hilarious 3-year old on monday, and spent the day messing up the house and playing with the worryingly large house toy collection. She agreed that we have more toys than they do- despite the house inhabitants being two 29-year old girls (we’re clearly not women- women surely don’t have this many toy dinosaurs).

I’m going to the doctors’ tomorrow to get my stitches taken off- they’re only stick-on ones, but they’re in the middle of my back, so I can’t see to do it, and I’d like to have someone with a clue check if it’s healing properly, seeing as I apparently can’t feel normal pain. Then I can shower again without having to resort to duct-taping a plastic bag over the dressing (I got some waterproof covers from the hospital, but I ran out of dressings due to having non-stick skin, and had to buy a larger size as that was all they had at the pharmacy, and they had no covers for that size… gahh).

Seein’ as this is my first post this MMP, my current favourite drink container is a ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ mug I’ve had… ooh… since my birthday a few weeks back. I did warn you I was basically a child. :stuck_out_tongue:
I finally decided I’ve been off medication for long enough to be OK with alcohol again last night, and poured myself a celebratory Baileys… which turned out to have gone off, and was full of off horrid slimy lumps, as I found out the bad way. Today’s beer is workin’ out fine though  Cheers!

Ugh, that is so gross. Slimy lumps do not belong in any alcohol. Then again, I’m not exactly an expert on alcohol. Our current household stock consists of about 2 inches of Glenlivet which we’ve had for about 3 years, two small bottles of wine which are left over from an experiment I did for a lab last year, and 1 bottle of something I can’t even remember the name of (I do know people usually stick a slice of lime in the neck though) which is left over from a get-together we had last spring.

Don’t worry about the toys. There’s nothing wrong with a household of two “adults” containing lots of toys. We have a 32-year-old and a 39-year-old in our house and we have Legos, GI Joes, Transformers, a hell of a lot of Nerf guns, and a train. We don’t even bother claiming that they’re for when kids visit.

I’ve been a good girl (since I woke up from my nap). I realize that my head generally feels better when I exercise so I decided that sitting at my desk studying would only make it feel worse :D. So, I cleaned my kitchen, including cleaning out the fridge and washing all the shelves. I even took the trash down and brought out the recyclables. We’re getting good at this recycling thing. We used 1 trash bag in the last week and it was only 3/4 full! I think that’s a record for us. However, one week worth of recycling filled half of our recycling bin.

I’m craving Papa Gino’s. I wonder if I can convince Sweetie to bring me some on his way home. Probably not, since we had Chinese last night but it’s worth a try. I’m probably the only freak in the world who actually craves Papa Gino’s pizza. I loves it, I do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOOFAE!!!

Happy BooFaeDay!!!

Sketties were yum. Now I’m going to knit the night away.

Happy BooFaeDay!!!

Gigit, VWife wants to know if Steven Tschida is as creepy in real life as he appears on screen…
