Favorite HBO Game of Thrones moments

The books do not exist in this thread - please say nothing about them.

Only refer to episodes which have already aired.

Dialogue, action, gags, costumes, etc. are all fair game.

“Where are the gods of tits and wine?”

Probably the Red Wedding. A lot of the snappy dialogue is fantastic, but you can find that in other shows. The Red Wedding and Ned’s death kind of change what you think can happen in television.

I really love the scene with the Arya and the Hound at the Inn though. The 10 minutes is fantastic, but my favorite part is when Polliver says “you lived your life for the king, are you going to die for some chickens?” and the Hound growls “someone is.” Fantastic menace in his voice.

One was after Dany had bought the Unsullied and she is given the Golden Whip as a symbol of her command over them. She tells them to kill thier former masters and that they can follow her or not as they please. The moment for me is when she is shown riding away from the city, the Unsullied following in formation, she starts to raise the golden whip and then tosses it in the sand, the Unsullied marching over it.

Also at Mereen when the catapults are firing wooden barrels over the walls. You are wondering what is in the barrels as they sail through the air. Then they burst on impact and spill out slave collars, chains and shackles. Powerful moment for me.

That said, freeing the slaves is not working out quite like Dany hoped.

The moment I knew I was going to love this series until it ended was in either episode 2 or 3 when Bran was about to be finished off by an assassin and his dire wolf rushed in to save him. First, it’s a great moment, but for me, I happen to love wolves and hate how they are often portrayed as evil. When the wolf is a good guy you get bonus points in my book :).

Oh my!

I was just wishing for such a thread because I would like to nominate Sam’s speech about John Snow when he explained why he was nominating John Snow for the leadership of the Knights.

It was one of the most powerful speeches I’ve ever heard on this show and I really and truly loved it.

IMHO, it was the single best moment I’ve ever experienced on this show. It was just wonderful!

Dany freeing the slaves. I love the logic.
“so when I have this whip, they will all obey me”
“yep”
“without question?”
“yep”
“Ok, kill your former masters”
(and yes, when she just tosses it that was cool)

“There’s no cure for being a cunt.” Generally most lines by Tyrion, Bronn, or Sandor. Characters like Janos Slynt getting their comeuppance.

ETA: I’ll leave this here.

Dany standing up after surviving the bonfire at the end of season 1, with baby dragons in hand.

Ooo, yes, that was a great scene.

Tyrion teaches Joffrey some manners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfyNF7v9C-I

Syrio Forel shows just what a badass he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcjQ4rQQ8H8

A favorite line that I can’t find on YouTube… Bronn is asked how he became a knight, and he shrugs, saying, “Killed the right people, I guess.”

Linky no worky.

Tyrion’s confession in his first trial. Where he confessed making the bald man cry into the turtle stew and hoped his sister ate it, among other things.

Tyrion: I once brought a jackass and a honey comb into a brothel. . .
Lysa: Stop it!
Robin: What happened next?

There is a youtube of Joffrey getting bitchslapped over and over. I’m a bit ashamed of how many times i watched it.

“All men must die”

“But we are not men”

Huh. Maybe doesn’t like if you redirect through Tapatalk or something? Try this.

From last night’s show: “Long sullen silences and the occasional punch in the face: The Mormont Way.”

Got it - thanks!

“Drop the scythe, boys!”

That entire scene – the sale of the dragon in exchange for the Unsullied – was my nominee. The total-prick former slave master has a dragon flapping on the end of a leash, and Dany reveals that Old Valyrian is her mother tongue; she’s heard all the nasty things he’s been saying about her;a dragon is no slave; kill the masters; and oh yeah, torch the city. Total bad-ass.

The end of season 1 with Dany and the dragons, probably one of the best moments in television ever.

Tyrion and Bronn’s reactions when Pod tells them that the brothel returned his money because he was such a good lover.
