Favorite nursery rhyme?

Just wondering if anyone had (or has) a favorite nursery rhyme - especially of the English, Mother Goose variety?

My favorite was Bobby Shaftoe. (Bobby was a great role model of how to be a real man…)

Bobby Shaftoe went to sea,
Silver buckles on his knee.
He’ll come back and marry me,
Pretty Bobby Shaftoe.

Bobby Shaftoe’s fine and fair,
Combing down his golden hair.
He’s my love for evermore,
Pretty Bobby Shaftoe.

It is with a measure of sadness that I must report that Andrew Dice Clay pretty much spoiled nursery rhymes for me. I can’t think of one he hasn’t had a better version of.

Sorry. :frowning:

Having said that, one of the favorite cartoons I have ever seen involved a Charles Addams or Gahan Wilson or somebody whose work was in the ghoulish or macabre vein those guys perfected. Anyway, this one was of an old lady sitting in a porch swing with a little girl reading her nursery rhymes. The caption went something like:

“Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon…
Preposterous!”

OK, it’s time I shared this with people other than my family. We (my brother and cousins) took great delight in spouting this rhyme when we were young, and I recently shared it with my own kids and husband. They feigned outrage but died laughing:

Milk, Milk (while pointing to each boob)
Lemonade (while pointing to crotch)
Around the corner (pointing to butt)
Fudge is made

Let the hilarity begin!!
