Favourite things...

Today, it’s my blue suede shoes. They are as comfortable as they are stylin’.

These new low cut jeans from Mexx are fittin’ just right too.

Me? I’m digging on the Louis Armstrong I just downloaded into I-Tunes.

And that yummy Culver’s cheeseburger I’m on my way out to get right now.

I got me a cat sleeping on my lap…Everything’s Jake.

Right now my favorite thing is poker. I’m definitely obsessed.

I’m also loving my new blue sneakers, which I’m wearing today with jeans and a blue George Mason University sweatshirt (go Mason!).

Nachos. In fact, I think they’re what’s gonna be for lunch!

Listenin’ to some Van Halen, and not having to do anything untill 4:00 are doin’ me pretty good right now. Ahhhhh… bein’ a lazy bastard… nice thing to do for a change.

Looking over the JazzFest lineup. Keb Mo is a foaf and he will be there!!

Just saw the new Ravinia line up for this year.

I’m so good to go, man! Steve Miller, Hootie, and Cheap Trick.

Raindrops on roses and…
Sloppy Joes

The marshmallows in Lucky Charms cereal.

When the dog bites, / When the bee stings, / When I’m feeling sad…

I put my pajamas, dig out a good book, make a cup of hot chocolate, and curl up on the couch,

…and then I don’t feeeeeeeel so bad.

This Red Bull is quenching my thirst superbly.

The motorcycle is still my favorite thing, even if it’s been here since August.

Second up would be the new silk dress I just bought for a special occasion. It’s even more my favorite since it’s the first article of clothing in a single-digit size I’ve bought for about 4 years. Yay for pumping iron!

A pan of freshly made Rice Krispies treats made with real butter.

Spring is aaaaaalmost here, and the snow was melting like crazy today. We’re going to have Spring Day soon (maybe even this weekend), and that is my absolute, favouritest day of the year.

And those Jamaican Chicken patties from Safeway are just fantastic, too.

I bought a leather notebook holder back in 1973. It closes with a snap. It holds a spiral notebook about a 5" by 8" size. There’s no telling how many notebooks it has held over the years. I probably have them all.

The leather is really scratched up now. I’ve made only two intentional marks on it: A “W” at Walden Pond and a “P” in Paris outside of a house where Hemingway lived.

Everything goes into this notebook: Poetry, grocery lists, packing lists for trips, comments I overhear, music I like, strange names and phone numbers that no longer make sense to me…

It is the thing I own which is most essentially me.

The current Guinness in my hand. I’m sure I will like the next one just as much.

My youngest kitty sleeping on my pillow in the bedroom, keeping it warm while I’m up all night with the usual insomnia.

I’ll regret saying this later… but I just dug out my old CDs, and ripped a song onto my harddrive to load up in my iPod… and now I’m shamelessly belting out Cyndi Lauper’s cover of “I Drove All Night”. Maybe I’m a little buzzed, but I sound good. Cyndi’s my girl.

I’ll blush over that one tomorrow. For now, I hope it wakes my husband up and turns him on. And that is one of my favourite things, too.

I drove all niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight to get to you… is that all right?

My PC.

Bacon & tomato quiches, sitting eating breakfast or lunch as the rest of the world goes by (I’ve been enjoying eating breakfast outside the bakery here in my home 'burb, seeing folks I know and saying hello.)

Libraries.

A cast of dozens of other things that make life just cool.

I love my hot water bottle. It doesn’t have a cord, so I don’t get tangled up in it. No electrocution danger, either. It keeps my feet cozy for quite a few hours, and since I have to get up and pee anyway, I can refill the bottle then (with warm TAP water, you pervs!). If I remember to put it under the blankets about half an hour before I go to bed, then my sheets are deliciously warm, instead of ice cold.

And I love whiskers on cats, too, not just on kittens.

I really love my garden…

As it’s been so (relatively) cold in London, all of my bulbs have been late in coming through - and its been such SUCH a long grey winter. Yesterday it was finally mild and last night it rained, and WOOOOSH! At last! Spring has Sprung! My Daffodils, Crocus, Narcissi have exploded with lovely vibrant colour. Mixed with the primroses and winter jasmine it looks so colourful and beautiful (rather than a builders yard) at long last!! It was just an enormous pleasure this morning to go and sit with a cup of tea and look at all the pretty flowers I grew, and to appreciate the rewards of all that hard work nuturing them.
