Fear the Walking Dead: 1.02 "So Close, Yet So Far" (open spoilers)

I almost feel like they are going too fast, all the characters should know at this point is some people are going crazy and attacking people.

I did love the fact police are clued in, but the public seeing them put down zombies just leads to justified rioting because it looks like cops shooting unarmed homeless people and junkies. I liked this part, but the riot got crazy too fast.

See the characters already know the dead are rising to feast on the living, it would be way more tense if they did NOT know this yet. They just see people going crazy.

There could be more scenes where cops shoot living people out of fear and paranoia because they don’t know who is going to bite them, leading to total chaos.

They could milk the who is infected paranoia and authorities killing and quarantining people leading to more chaos and violence.

Those were non-speaking roles, right? All three of the black guys were named and had speaking roles- if they hadn’t been bitten, they could’ve been recurring characters. Could you say the same of the junkies?

Also- are there *any *black characters left in the show, now?

We’re talking about main to secondary characters, not extras. You do understand the difference, right?

Also the hugely (in)famous trope about this in this genre?

Episode 3, Mom tells daughter black people are getting sick and then try to eat people…

I am already certain this show has the same shitty writers/writing as the other one which means we are in for about 1 decent episode per season.

They weren’t all bitten. Are you talking about the same TV show?

I’ve responded to several posters who had made incorrect statements concerning the FTWD first two episodes.

Dying in a zombie show doesn’t mean they can’t be recurring characters.
So far, this appears to be the Latino version of TWD. Maybe you could start your own black version.

Those weren’t characters, they were extras.

Ninja’ed, but the point stands.

Yes, yes, we all understand that the first deaths on the show were bit part extras who were white, but who weren’t characters in any real sense. They were scenery.

The first three SPEAKING roles to die were all black. Do you understand the difference between a bit part extra and a speaking role?

Oh damn, you’re right: two of them were bitten, the other one was just killed. Clearly this invalidates my point… somehow. All three are now zombified, though (I suppose it’s possible the boyfriend survives, but since he was bitten it seems unlikely).

I don’t understand why you’re resisting this so much. It’s very clear that the three black guys introduced as characters were killed in the first two episodes.

Are you aware that the statements I originally responded to did not say that the first three speaking roles to die were all black? I’m not responsible for what someone else did not say, or hadn’t made clear. YMMV.

Did you wish to address the poster who thinks the first three black deaths were caused by zombie bites?

I wish to complain that the first three White people to be killed only had bit roles.

Resisting? Your statement was incorrect. I guess that doesn’t matter to you. It might matter to other people. It’s OK if people disagree with your statements in a pre-zombie apocalyptic world. It’s not “resisting”. :smack:

Ouch!

If anyone is curious, the show is apparently taking place in August 2010.

Are you aware that your posts in this thread come off as kind of racist?

Not saying that you’re racist, of course, but you are belaboring a point I might expect to see argued on Stormfront.

What a coincidence, I’m just beginning to think that your posts are somewhat racist. Not that you’re a racist, of course, but your posts seem to be something from an Only Black Lives Matters type of person. All lives matter, even TV zombies.

Now you are going too far! :dubious:

Nice racist spin.

Where’d the “Only” come from? That’s (meaningfully) not part of the actual slogan.

The response “All Lives Matter” is inherently racist.

Remember the Herschel farm plot which seemed batshit insane where he wanted to keep the zombies alive so they could be cured? Even though they were visibly rotting and decaying?

That plot could work on this show, protesters and family members seeing their relatives as sick and curable makes sense in the beginning.

All lives matter but some lives matter more than others?

So how many black characters are left, at this point?
