Didn’t the Counselor lady use her key to get in?
Gloria’s name was Gloria.
As for what color the folks left in the show are, I don’t keep track. I’ve not seen this episode yet, is the boyfriend alive?
That’s not what the slogan is saying. The idea behind it is that the current status quo is that black lives don’t matter as much as other lives, as evidenced by their increased likelihood of being incarcerated or even outright murdered by police. That’s the state of affairs we live in.
The slogan “Black Lives Matter” is a call to address the inequity, to stop allowing black lives to matter less than others.
The response “All Lives Matter” is to flatly deny the inequity, and is a tacit affirmation of the status quo.
I think we can write off Gloria as having died before the show even began. The trope of the writers killing off black people is so well established that one has to wonder if they are doing it on purpose this time.
Tell me, how many millions of people do I need to know and living situations do I need to consider before it’s ok to think it was unusual?
Probably the real issue is it’s getting harder and harder for me to excuse TWD/FTWD’s flaws, so it doesn’t take much to kick me out of them.
Oh. Do go on.
Tell us more about this “Only Black Lives Matter” movement you speak of and how it pertains to this show…
What difference could it possibly make?
From what I can tell from doorhinge’s posting history is he’s more of the type of white guy who thinks racism isn’t as prominent or much of a reality anymore. Like a racism denialist.
Which is still a form of racism I suppose, or an ignorance of the world around you. YMMV.
Hahahaha. You’re a hoot. All Lives Matter means that all lives matter. Including the lives of the actors, directors, writers, and casting directors of zombie shows. Your attempt at intimidation has failed. All live matter. Long live the zombies.
Um, because one of the complaints about the original show is that the black guys get killed off? I mean, it’s like a thing we’ve talked about here, and everything.
And in the first two episodes of the new series, *all *of the black male characters got killed off.
In case you didn’t notice, everyone’s been crying foul on FTWD not just continuing 'The Black Dude Dies First" trope, but pushing it to its limits.
After you explain Ellis Dee’s obsession with Stormfront.
Except I’m pretty sure a lot more white characters have been killed off than black ones. And they haven’t killed off any of the one Asian characters!
Really though, who gives a fuck?
(Underline added)
Who is this “everyone” you believe you speak for? I’d like to know who I’m addressing.
It’s a figure of speech. Get a grip, dude.
Well mostly no one, really. But the trope is such an eye roller at this point, it seems they’re willingly trolling us with it.
It’s a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE show. In case you don’t understand the premise, most of the characters will die. Horribly. And then they will have to be killed again. And again, in some cases.
You can try and make this a racial issue but I don’t believe eVeRyOne is buying your spin.
I seriously suspect he’s trying to pedanticize (not a word) his position. Or something. He seems to be really trying to avoid admitting that black men have a really short life on the two series.
It’s a zombie show, dude. EvErYoNe dies except for the hero.
Quite a few viewers of both the original show and this spin-off have noticed the tendency, and find it worth discussing.
You’re under no obligation to join in, of course. But by the same token, it’s really not up to you to shut down the discussion, either. (I apologize to the mods if that observation is considered to be out of line in this sub-folder.)
